...are looking for reviews of Brighton pubs and nightclubs then I am sorry but you are reading the wrong review. You are not entirely out of luck however, as I know that there are a good few reviews of just such places only a couple of clicks away from here.
Apologies to the many of you who know the town and say; 'RICHADA you've left out this, that or the other' - I'm sorry, but this is MY review. I am sure that there are many interesting places not ... ...I started to really SEE Brighton and enjoy it for what it is.
Like many people who have lived in their own home town for many years I tended just to take it for granted. You want to go shopping; you know where to go, where to park etc. My parents did not take me to the beach or onto the pier when I was young, several of the famous places that I list below they never took me to and in all honesty I just accepted their word that such and such a place ...

Advantages: Lively, eccentric, varied Disadvantages: Expensive, considerable amounts of traffic
Recently granted city status, Brighton has traditionally had a reputation for being a destination for a convenient day-trip or a dirty weekend, but such fleeting visits barely do the area justice. Spread out along the coast, around 50 miles south of London's outer fringes, the city has enjoyed a rather successful decade of regeneration and growth. This has brought a number of new developments (with the long-standing promises of much more to come), ... ...- however, this does make Brighton as an individual entity feel a little on the small side for a city; although this need not be a bad thing.
The main traffic hub of the area is probably the Old Steine, a roughly half-mile long opening between the buildings, where a congested one-way system carves up a series of parks and monuments, running from St.Peter's Church at one end to Brighton Pier (the one which isn't derelict and crumbling) at the other. ...

Brighton to many is London-by-the-sea to others the destination for a dirty weekend. I have lived in Brighton for over 20 years, I even tried to leave once but soon realised what a mistake I?d made! Over the years the Town (now officially a city) has outgrown these popular preconceptions and has developed into one of the liveliest centres for tourism, culture and entertainment in the south of England.
*HISTORY* Up until the 16th century Brighton ... ...in the early 17th century Brighton became the largest town in Sussex. The town became known as a health spa due to the supposed medical properties of the seawater that would cure many diseases. The growing Royal interest of the Prince Regent (to become George IV) led to the building of a outlandish Palace the Royal Pavilion, on the outside taking its influences from the domed palaces of India. Later in the 19th century with the opening of the London ...

...his practice from Lewes to Brighton to capitalise on his success. The treatment was not by any extent attractive. It involved a strict regime of rising early, bracing walks, obligatory bathing in the sea (immersion was compulsory) and also drinking the seawater at regular intervals during the day. Patients were offered the option of mixing it with milk if they found it unpalatable. And with the palace came parties and people and debauchery. But George (or Prinny as he is still affectionately known in the town) ...

Advantages: fun, unusual and full of things to do and see. Disadvantages: partly spoilt by bad planning, very poor train link.
Brighton is somewhere I’ve always tried to avoid. I associated it with Tory party conferences and fish and chips on the beach. My first trip to Brighton confirmed my original suspicions – a once great town blighted by bad taste, poor planning and naff amusements. A stroll along the seafront will provide enough examples of what I mean. A beautiful pier left to rot, whilst the ugly high rise block towers over its skeletal remains. ...away from home, living in Brighton for two years......
Brighton is in the sunniest part of England, making visits from June to September a gorgeous time to visit. It's during this time of year the city is packed with European tourists, foreign language students, English day trippers, motorcycle gangs, and South Coasters coming for a shop. The rest of the year it can be dark and dreary, with a constant down-pouring of rain. At times the rain seems ... ...for a while. Buses to Brighton however are cheap and affordable.............
Enjoy the seaside, but don't count on swimming. The water is cold and polluted. For that matter, don't even count on sunning yourself at the beach. Most of the sun-starved natives settle quite comfortably on the beaches -- filled with smooth rocks the size of a chicken's egg. Most of the fun is gained from walking down the boardwalk, people-watching, and visiting the two ...

...Contrary to popular belief, Brighton is not a relaxing, cultured or enthralling destination. Far be it from me to suggest that Brighton is a tacky and decadent city, but it is. Brighton in Sussex is arguably the premier resort on England's south coast. It has a special place in the affection of Londoner's and is sometimes referred to as "London-by-the-Sea".

Then there is quaint area called The Lanes which houses yuppy restaurants, clubs, and shops selling antiques. Brighton, houses that uniquely and eccentric ...
