The Skys the Limit - Overhauled

Advantages: Modern airlines with friendly staff
Disadvantages: Difficult staff when paying for extra leg-rooms seats for children over 12

Britannia Airways are owned by the Thomson group and serve three main holiday companies, Portland Direct, Skytours and Thomsons, all owned by the World of Tui. As a result, in recent months, some of the planes have been upgraded and are being resprayed to display the turquoise synonymous with the company with small red Tui logos dotted on the wings and body of the plane. Flight only deals can also be booked through Britannia themselves or on-line ...
...rows ahead - and although Britannia do not allow children under the age of 16 to travel alone, they are more than happy to let children sit on their own. FOOD This has always been of reasonable quality, but presentation has declined somewhat over the last few years. From the of Summer 2003, like most of their competitors, Britannia now charge for food on planes, rather than it being included in the holiday price. The charge for adults is £10, and ...

...for' and I think with Britannia you do. If you are travelling within Europe with Britannia let's face it - you've bought a cheap flight there's no denying it, and I think for the price you pay you get excellent value for money. We cannot expect schedule airline service on a charter 'bucket' flight! Anyway I went to Larnaca with Britannia last year flying from Newcastle and I was impressed with the flight. The cabin crew were friendly and very polite ...
...I was also quite impressed with the food (apart from Breakfast on the way back), but the drinks were expensive to buy so my advice is take your own soft drinks (you have to buy alcoholic ones on board). The inflight entertainment was ok - a few repeats of BBC programmes, but they helped pass the time. You didn't have to pay for headsets like on some other planes. Yes the seats were cramped, but no more than any other charter and it's bearable for ...

Brittania airways, a large company flying out of most airports. But how good are they? Well, I fly regularly with my family and have used several airlines. Brittania is connected to bargain type holidays, package holidays. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is not at all personalised. Everyone is just a pound note sign to the company, well at least that is how it feels. The planes are not at all roomy, people are packed in like sardines. Leg ...
...is rather unpleasant. The staff are reasonably pleasant, but are extremely pleasant when they try to sell you something, such as duty frees etc. I am sure they must be on a commission for sales! The planes themselves are quite up to date with many new planes on the fleet, but because of the very fast turnaround time at airports the cleanliness when you embark could improve. The food served is very basic and airliny (if thats a word!), it could ...

Even with slight mishap's likesome of the inflight entertanment tapes going missing the crew took it in thier stride. Only if you absolutely must

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: the other passengers

A friend found some super cheap last-minute flights to the Caribbean for the four of us (two couples), I was thrilled and not about to say no just because it was a charter flight. My boyfriend was less enthuastic, and thankfully more realistic about what eight hours in sardine tin hell would be like. For a supplement of £40 we could get "upgraded" to larger seats (a little larger then the Virgin economy seats), which we did at his insistance. I cannot ...
...unless you're under 10 or a professional contortionist the regualr seats are basically unbearable on a longhaul flight. Imagine taking a commuter train to the Caribbean and you get the idea. The food, while not fabuolous, was edible; but again my resourseful boyfriend had packed us sandwiches and munchies so I only just tasted it out of curiosity. The cabin crew were very polite and helpful, which is unfortunately more I can say for the other passengers ...

I bet u aint been this numb

Advantages: Smooth flight and good food
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable and some delays

I recently flew to Philadelphia(USA) and back to england with BA and I thought it wasn't what i was expecting. I had a high opinion of BA and had been lead to believe I would be travelling on a luxury plane as the flight lasted for 8 hours!, but I found it was cramped, had only around 2 decent radio stations on board which were just recordings that got continually played and there was only one screen for the movies which wasn't very well situated ...
...long journey I would make sure I got one of the planes with the personal tv screen in the back of the headrest of the person in front as it allows you to watch what you want. Another bad thing was that there was a 4 hour delay at USA on the way home then about a 3 hour delay in Heathrow, but I can't grumble as it was for our own safety i guess. If I had to do it again I would make sure I got a good more luxurious plane. Otherwise everything else ...

A Good Service

Advantages: Well heard of airline
Disadvantages: I don't like flying

...I'd heard Britannia were a good line and I was not to be disappointed. For those who have not heard of Brittania, or don't know much about Brittania they are part of Thomson. So be warned...if you go on a Thomson holiday you are more than likley to end up on a Brittania Flight. For me personally, after my one and only experience with Brittania I wouldn't mind flying to all my holidays with them. But like I say, This is just my opinion on the one ...

I have had better flights

Advantages: Not many
Disadvantages: Could have been more professional all the way throught the flight

I have flown with Brittania Airways once June this year as I was a shareholder with Thomson Holidays. As soon as I got onto the plane (I think it was a boeing 747 (the big plane) I knew that I was not going to enjoy the flight. The staff were panicing, they looked untidy, and some were short tempered. The flight was slightly late departing by a few mins, passengers still walking about just before take off, and there was no control by staff to calm ...
...was normal tv, so I got fed up with adverts all the time, and everyday tv programmes. All I wanted to do is relax and chill out for when I got to the destination. I could not even do that. When the meals or drink came round, the meal trolleys hit me with the staff not even appologising and the distribution of drinks were in no order in giving out, with the staff talking quite, so if you were looking the other way, then you missed out on the round ...

Not perfect but not too bad

Advantages: Very punctual
Disadvantages: Bad service

I went to Florida recently from Manchester Airport. The treatment was ok but Not the best, we were one of the first to check in so we had some time to loom around. when we finally got onto the aircraft we were greated by some very sad looking individuals. We got on and found our selves to be put into some of the most uncomfortable seats your can imagine, we weren;t near a window either so there was nothing to take your mind away from the lack of ...
...8 hour flight. The only thing that I could say that was good about the journey out there was that it was on time, and there were minimal delays. I had to put up with some very ignorant cabin crew who in my oppinion need to learn something about customer service, they were all very rude, and I couldn't wait to get off that plane. Luckily after a good holiday the flight back was much better, the cabin crew were very pleasant, and weren't rude of ignorant ...

Do not fly with Britannia!

Advantages: Can't actually think of any
Disadvantages: Where should I begin?

I flew with Britannia last summer when I went to Florida. The flights weren't the cheapest, so I thought that they can't be too bad. When we booked the flights we were told that we would have televisions in the back of the head rests, so the first thing we noticed when we got on the plane was no TV's, just 3 14" ones at the front of the cabin, and having a 6 foot plus man sitting in front of you dosent help. We had paid for our seats as when we ...
...might not sit together, so at the thought of nine hours sitting with complete strangers went through my head, we paid extra for the security of seats together. When we had boarded the plane we sat in our seats we had booked only to realise that the video compartment was above our heads, so we had to put our hand luggage quite far down the plane. Also we had rude staff who slammed the compartment shut everytime they went into it. The food was OK, ...

Never again...

Advantages: Cheap, basic.
Disadvantages: Cramped, rude staff, cold.

I flew Brittania recently and I can honestly say that I would never fly with them again. Of course, one never expects luxury on a package holiday flight but passengers should expect at least a certain standard. I flew to Gran Canaria on Brittania from Birmingham airport. The flight out wasn't too bad because obviously I was excited by the holiday. I was still rather cramped though, in fact, too cramped. I know airlines have a profit to make but ...
...air hostesses were surly at best and ignorant at worst! On the flight home, the aircraft was very cold - too cold in fact. When I asked for a blanket because I wanted to sleep and warm up, I was told that there were only 10 blankets and that they'd all been given out. I thought this was awful. I was very glad to get off the plane in Birmingham, I was cold, stiff from being so cramped and hungry because the meal they gave out was so awful that ...

The single parents' guardian angels

Advantages: Pleasant and extremely helpful cabin crew.
Disadvantages: Cramped seating when you're sharing your seat with an infant.

I travelled to Menorca with Brittania as a last minute passenger with my daughter who was seven months at the time. Imagine the luggage, the pram, the changing bag, hand luggage and baby in tow and only one pair of hands. I wasn't looking forward to the journey, it was baby's first trip and my first trip with baby. The cabin crew on the Brittania flight were fantastic. They helped me with my extra bags, held my daughter while I took my seat and kept ...
...couldn't have been more helpful. I even managed to get some lunch and feed my daughter without a problem. The cabin crew on all flights should be given medals, they have a lot to contend with on each flight and the crew on my flight treated me like a VIP. I arrived de-stressed and ready to enjoy my holiday (That's a different story!) ...

Very nice !

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

The planes they use are all very nice, and have good safety records. The airline itself has an excellent safety record. They make a strong emphasis on the importance of safety before the plane takes off. The air crew are all very nice, friendly and helpful. The captain informs you of flight details as well as the on board computer system, which can be innacurate on occasions. On a number of ocassions the pilot (s) have let me go up to the cockpit ...

And people say Easyjet is bad...

Advantages: Lets see oh yeah there is no........
Disadvantages: Were do we start read the opinion and you will see

Last year i went on holiday to Ibiza and had to fly with what was supposed to be a good airline. Well that is what i thought anyway. We arrived at Mancester airport at 6.30am because we were flying at 9.00am and had to book in and all that. so we book in at 7.00am because they had to check all the bags because they had, had a bomb threat and was told it was going to spain but they didnt say were in spain. At 7.45 a message came over the speakers ...
...must board ontime. So at 8.25 we all started to board the plane and as usual everyone was trying to board all at once. we got to the gate and were told at the bottom of this alley way kind of thing we had to get on a bus that would take use to the plane. We finally got to the place were we had to get on the bus and was told it had just left and would be back in a minite after it had dropped the first lot of people off. So the bus came and we all ...
