Advantages: Cheap! Central Location. Disadvantages: Soft Pillows, dirty bathroom.
...I stumbled upon this, the Britannia Hotel. Located down New Street, Birmingham, and at just £35 per night as the advanced fee – it was a bargain. == Finding The Hotel == Being pretty poor at most sort of planning, I didn’t really take much note of exactly where the Hotel was, just that it was somewhere down New Street. So, it actually took us a bit of finding, but that was mainly due to us not knowing Birmingham at all. All I remember now, is it ... ...Room == We had room 225, located right at the end of the maze-like corridor, on floor two. Opening the door, the room was pretty much how we expected it to be – as basic as humanly possible. Two Beds, sat next to each other, with a tiny set of drawers to their right hand sides. A TV, and a little dressing table, that had the Kettle on. And, to the right of the room, a door to the bathroom. The room was clean, and smelt fresh, which is always a good ...

A lot of my friends don't even know where the Britannia is despite walking past it every day! This may partly be because the entrance is down a side road called Union Passage, which is between the Britannia and Primark. There is a revolving door at the front (plus wheelchair access door) which takes you into the main reception area. The decor is quite ...

...previous review) and was the Britannia in the city centre, it cost me £47 for a double room bed only, a friend also staying the same night paid £42 for a single.
Arriving at the train station my previous visits 'beer compass' directions sent me for a walk around the outside of the train station but from the exit through the shopping centre it is literally a walk of a minute at most (note to self shoving through groups of football fans is a bad idea). ... ...more central than this one. The hotel itself has the entry through Union Passage just off the main street. The revolving door is quite heavy but there is a wider wheelchair accessable door to the side. The reception is small, and old fashioned looking. Booking was a very painless experience and thankfully after the previous disaster, on arrival the the hotel I walked straight to the desk gave them my name, spelled my name (not sure the girl quite ...

I stayed at this hotel for work purposes on Monday 3rd March in a single room on the sixth floor. We paid £70 B&B.
My initial reaction was to be extremely negative about this hotel, however, on reflection i think it is important to point out some of its good points. I would not say it was an enjoyable experience, however, it was adequate and i've had worse!
On the plus side - This is a proper city centre hotel - right in the centre of town, close ... ...is perfect.
The kettle and toilet were clean, which is always a good start!
The member of staff who booked me in was pleasant and helpful. There was an error with our booking, we had 4 rooms booked, but only two of us were on the list. She gave me the list to check through - which had other guest's names and personal details on - i thought at the time this was a little unprofessional, but she was doing it for the right reasons, not laziness or ...

Advantages: near shops, train station, everything walking distance, price Disadvantages: dark room lit by lamps
I booked the room on-line as you get discount off the room. I booked a single room for £42 which was usually £50.
The outside of the hotel makes it seem run down but inside the decoration is a traditional style. Best thing about this hotel is that its right in the centre of Birmingham, in between the shops and opposite the train station inside the Palisades. So if your going to staying Birmingham I would recommend this hotel over Travelodge on Broad ... ...The room offer modern facilities including TV, Telephone, Hairdryer, Trouser Press and Tea & Coffee making facilities. Its own restaurant and bar within the hotel. Room service. Staff are friendly and helpful. ng
Room is dark though its just lit with lamps which is quite annoying at time. Bathroom was clean and had shower gel and soaps in there. Bed comfy and I slept well, it was not as noisy as the stay on Broad Street. ...
