Advantages: Free travel and vouchers galore Disadvantages: You could be saving forever to get those flights!
...time, the UK's national carrier, British Airways, had launched its own version. Air Miles, set up in 1988, differs from most other programmes in that it doesn't require participants to take a flight in order to collect miles. The firm signed up a whole list of partners who give away airline miles to customers who buy their goods and services. When you enough miles have been collected there are a whole host of things to spend them on. Not least of ...

Advantages: Destinations, choice, collection opportunities, ancillary products Disadvantages: Can be low availability, hard to accrue enough points for long-haul
...excellent value. Flights are normally British Airways but with the 'One World' alliance, you can use them on other airlines as well
ANCILLARY PRODUCTS
The call centre can also offer you good rates on accomodation (of all ranges) and car hire. There is the option to exchange miles in return for money off ancillary products but it is not a good conversion rate and wouldn't reccomend it.

The British Airways AirMiles Scheme gives you air miles as a reward for doing what you do every day - spending.
My main source of generating the miles is Sainsburys. The reward points that that supermarket give you for every pound spent or special offer bought can be exchanged at the rate of 40 airmiles for 500 points. These points really add up quite quickly especially when you take advantage of the extra points awarded ...

Advantages: good discount Disadvantages: must shop in certain stores to collect
I was looking to book two week in Cyprus for this summer, and having recently received a flyer from Air Miles I thought I would try their in house travel agents for a quote for a holiday I had seen in the First Choice brochure -
Brochure price £1482, redeem 450 air miles and the price is reduced to £1052. Quite a saving.
Air Miles can be collected in the high street from Shell, Sainsbury's and Homebase plus many more specialist retailers.
It should ...

Advantages: free flights to lovely places Disadvantages: to slow to collect
I have been to Paris (twice) Brussels, Stuttgart, Amsterdam and Majorca (guess what team I support) to watch the footy with my miles.
Offers on hotels are very good and the staff at customer services are always trying to help.
My only one point of concern is that there are only a limited number of flights to europe from Edinburgh unless you go to LHR first.
Why 550 miles to Paris but 700 to London?? This eats into your miles when you have ...

Advantages: easy to collect, free travel Disadvantages: limited departure airports
I have been a collector of Airmiles for several years now, and have managed to collect over 5000 miles. Mainly, my means of collection has been through Sainsburys, and this seems to be the easiest method of collection for me. This year I decided to spend some of my airmiles. I have been to Paris with my son and husband flying from Manchester to Charles de Gaulle with BA. To celebrate my husband's birthday, we flew to Jersey, again flying from Manchestger ...

Advantages: none that I can think of Disadvantages: Trying to book flights with them is almost impossible
I have over my working life saved up BA miles in order to visit my family in Australia. I have tried for three years running to book two business class seats only to be told that none were available. When I wrote to BA I received a letter back saying that these flights were only available to the select few and that I should consider going elswhere. I now have 430000 useless airmiles.
I have also been told that my miles will be cancelled unless I ...

As a regular traveller I try to take advantage of all types of offers from all different sources. A reliable and good source is airmiles. Collecting is easy, fron Sainsburys, Shell petrol stations, Natwest cards etc etc. The only place I really collect mine is from Sainsburys, and they soon mount up. They are a good lever for discounted family holidays as well as free air travel. I often look and then check the package holiday that I want through ...
