A review of the Club Europe product

Advantages: Superb bargans if booking fixed dates for travel
Disadvantages: A lack of consistency in the overall product

...Introduction British Airways (BA) seems to evoke strong emotions from its customers; a real love hate relationship I would say. I have to confess, from my experience of long haul leisure travel in economy going back to the 80's I held a fairly negative perception. Objectively this is probably not entirely fair, however, a 5-hour delay in Kuwait on one return flight and a 30-hour delay to another are not easy to forget. I tried them after a hiatus ...
...an inferior service to the British Airways flights out of Heathrow in Business (also there is the issue of timings which are not great for business travellers and price which I will come on to). Anyway, I therefore have to travel from heathrow in most cases and that is never a hugely enjoyable experience, role on the opening of Terminal 5 I say. Check in In both airports the check in arrangements are generic - by this I mean wherever you are going ...

The Worlds Favourite airline.

Advantages: A good standard of service
Disadvantages: Current cut backs in service provision.

British Airways. I recently took a trip with British Airways from Gatwick airport to Venice Marco Polo airport and Heathrow to New York and Bangkok. Who are British Airways? British Airways is the National carrier of the United Kingdom although some might say after the ethnic painting of the tail incident and Margaret Thatcher covering the awful design with a tissue, this painting incidentally cost millions of pounds and was a completely ridiculous ...
...agent. 2. By Telephone direct with British Airways. 3. By logging on to BA own website. 4. Through an on line travel site such as E bookers, Netflights or Expedia for example. I booked directly with British airways on their website which is quite easy to navigate and use. Their website can be found at www.ba.com It is quite a comprehensive site offering you the opportunity to book complete holiday packages including airport transfers and local ...

CHEAP, BUT NOT NECESSARILY CHEERFUL

Advantages: Good prices, on-line check-in
Disadvantages: Hot cabin, poor quality food

...WHO ARE THEY? The original British Airline, and the first full UK carrier, they fly to virtually every part of the world through their operations, which incorporate a range of franchises and membership of the "oneworld" alliance, which also includes American Airlines, Aer Lingus, Cathay Pacific, FinAir, Iberia, LanChile and Qantas. From their website: On their own they fly to 152 destinations in 72 countries, on the oneworld network, 565 destinations ...
...in 141 countries, that is a lot of flights! Needless to say, after 911, they hit some hard times, but in the last financial year reported a substantial operating profit, despite dropping the prices of many of their economy flights substantially, sometimes making them more competitive than their budget counterparts, the downside for me is that they do not fly from Wales. ------------------------------------------------------------ BOOKING This ...

...to write an op on British Airways, having probably made over 200 flights with them all round the world (I would say over 95% of them with BA). This op will really concentrate on the latest flights I have been on, and my experience of BA on these flights. ** Who are British Airways? ** They are basically the national airline for the UK (although Richard Branson might have something to say about that!). BA fly to most destinations around the world, ...

BA = Brilliant Airline

Advantages: A long list of superlatives
Disadvantages: Not always the cheapest

...raised in earlier reviews for British Airway and the surprisingly low average rating given to them by fellow reviewers, I can't help but wonder whether we're thinking about the same company. My experiences of BA have been, for the most part, exemplary and they remain one of my favourite airlines to fly with. I've always found the service to be polished, with a good range of features and for me a flight with BA is always a more distinguished event ...
...flying. *Check-in with British Airways* I try and make use of online check-in whenever possible and this is made easy through the BA website. In addition to this, customers with suitable tickets and baggage can often use the fast check-in machines provided by BA at most major airports. I've always fancied using one of these, but have never quite got the right combination of tickets/e-tickets and boarding cards! Staff at check-in are always well spoken, ...

21st Century Air Travel, 19th Century Attitude

Advantages: Very good new product for intercontinental flights, good service to premium passengers, nice lounges.
Disadvantages: Terrible meals, small seat pitch in Economy, rather unfriendly staff in Economy, outdated service philosophy, wrong strategies.

British Airways boast themselves for "defining 21st Century Air Travel” with a range of new products and services. And whilst BA is indeed a very innovative airline, it still hasn't invented the right medicine against its greatest flaws: wrong focus and bad attitude. And bad taste, I should add. If we believe the official BA lingo, then everything about this airline is new. New Concorde, New First, New Club World, New World Traveller Plus, New World ...
...writes the 103rd opinion on British Airways. It appears that this is the first opinion in this category which is based on the experience of more than just a handful of flights. I have flown with them around fifty times throughout the last eight years, and hence feel entitled to a qualified opinion on BA's products and services. I will restrict myself to BA's Club and Traveller Classes (Business and Economy), as these are the classes I have travelled ...

Bad Arbitrator

Advantages: Variety of destinations and flights
Disadvantages: Poor customer relations

In February our family holiday took us to Florida. This was to be a special holiday because it was probably the last time we would all be together on holiday - both my children are grown up and really don't want to accompany us anymore. However this time my mum was also coming. At the time she was 75 and it was her first visit to America so it really was an extra special occasion. Because of the terrible September 11th tragedies there were fewer ...
...advance and before the sad events of September 11th. As on previous occasions, we had booked to leave from our local airport. Around Christmastime 2001 I heard on the radio that all flights to America from our local airport had been cancelled by way of economy measures. We had paid the deposit months ago and the final payment was due. My husband called into the travel agents to ask if they knew anymore but they told him they had not heard of the ...

The worlds Favorite airline?

Advantages: Free Drinks all flight
Disadvantages: Seat pitch is not the best around

...For this trip I used British Airways web site as this would give me a discount of my hotel costs. I find BA’s website a lot better for booking flights than any of the other airlines websites, the main reason for this is it is very easy to see all the options available to get the best price. You start by entering the airport you wish to leave from, the destination airport this can be the name or the three letter airport code if you know it, number ...

Once the “get flights” button has been clicked the system goes off and returns the flight costs 7 days before and after the date you entered for outbound travel, this is great as you can adjust your travel dates based on cost, select the date you want and click continue. The return dates are shown in the same way, again select your date and click continue. The site will then give you the flights available ...

London to Barcelona.

Advantages: Friendly service, cheap flight, got there!
Disadvantages: Iberia-operated sardine can on the return leg!

I flew BA from Heathrow to Barcelona (BA 482, Euro Traveller) with four friends last September. Being rather impoverished students, we booked via BA's website at £100 each, including taxes. This would be the first time I'd flown since going to Indoenisia in 1997 at the tender age of 14, and considering one of our engines blew up and our airline (Garuda Indonesia) had a fatal crash the day after out flight, I was rather anxious. Fortunately, there ...

Check-In at Heathrow was unremarkable; the staff were friendly and thorough, managing to find a tiny pair of nail scissors in my friend's hand luggage which she'd neglected to remember were there! If there are any health reasons which result in you needing to carry needles, make sure you inform the airline ...

Unusually, British Airways still gives the child discount to UMs - many airlines don't. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Big Day - At the Airport ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Especially when sending your child(ren) off to fly alone, really DO ensure you get to the airport two hours before the flight. Best of British Struggling to Survive

Advantages: Quality, Service, Comfort
Disadvantages: Relish

Poor old British Airways, no longer enjoying the position of Brits first choice for air travel. It all seems to have gone downhill for them since Thatcher tried to cover their modern art tail design with a hanky she produced from her gigantic bag. I don't know why she didn't just concentrate and melt it with her demonic powers. Anyway things have been going considerably worse since the twin towers toppled and BA have announced their decision to ground ...
...terrorist attack had an obvious effect on their business, several days of no cross Atlantic flights followed by weeks of reduced custom as people readjust to the tightened security. Not to mention the devastating effect of irresponsible media hysteria discouraging people from flying. However on top of this they have had severe pressure from the new budget airlines. As Ryanair and Easyjet compete to make the lowest profit possible on certain popular ...

BA - Blooming Awful

Advantages: Wide variety of destinations
Disadvantages: Dirty plane, broken seats, bad service in the air

Recently we tried out British airways after a gap of over 10 years, (had a bad experience then) We flew from Longhaul as it was the only airline flying non stop direct to our destination. Check in was great as we checked in over the internet before leaving for the airport, We had to queue for almost an hour to hand over our baggage though as the airport was so busy they had only 1 dedicated baggage drop off point and this was also being used for ...
...its best, it looked new from the outside having been apinted in the new logo, inside was another story, the floor, walls and seats were dirty, I had to clean the dirt from the tray before it could be used. My seat was broken and I was advised that I would just have to stay there as there was no other seat available on the plane.11 1/2 hours in this seat was not the best thought on my mind, I spent most of the flight standing up, Still one consolation ...

The Sun Never Sets on the Empire but whatabout BA

Advantages: Lots of snacks and refreshments on long haul flights.
Disadvantages: Usually more expensive than other airlines.

British airways (BA) has been a constant staple of mine whenever I have to travel to various parts of the world. Usually I would purchase tickets based on price but if its a difference of just a couple of tens of dollars, I would pick BA. I have several reasons for doing so. First, I get frequent flyer points because BA is in the one world alliance. Second, its an airline I am comfortable with. I had flown with BA to various parts of the world and ...
...but at other times, BA can be downright horrible. I guess it is safe to say that the service is dependent on their local representatives and there are inconsistencies in their training and recruitment process. I have flown with BA mainly in the economy class. Over the years, I have found the seats shrinking and than expanding. I'm sure its not me because I am consistently growing bigger so it has to be the seats. I guess BA went through a period ...

Advantages: Check-in was a breeze. Comfortable seating and decent service.
Disadvantages: Poor punctuality meant we were nearly diverted to a different airport.

...the Grampians, in Scotland, with British Airways. I normally fly by the cheapest route and that usually means using a "budget" airline. This time, by using www.priceline.co.uk to book our tickets, BA turned out to be the cheapest route. Cheaper, even, by going by train - but then what's new? Buying the tickets I used Priceline, where you make a bid for your tickets and, if successful, they instantly book your tickets for you and charge your credit ...
...In so doing, we got our tickets for £149 instead of BA's advertised price of £335. A hefty, and most welcome, discount. The booking immediately appeared on my BA Executive Card account, viewable online at www.ba.com. Check-in My major moan about budget airlines is their general insistence on not allocating seats at check-in. The resulting stampede for the best seats once you board the aircraft is a nightmare and if like me, you're an aviation enthusiast ...

Classy Club Class

Advantages: Luxury. Leg Room. Freebies.
Disadvantages: It didn't last long enough.

I'd been having a really, really terrible time at work of late for one reason or 25 more (Ahh, bless!) The SAD season was approaching faster than a boy racer on the outside lane of the M25 and I wanted a bit of luxury. A bit of sun. A touch of R&R. Answer? Holiday! Due to the devastation of the 11th September I wasn't that keen on a long-haul flight so needed somewhere closer and with a touch of sun. Never been to Spain before - prefer farther afield ...
...temperatures in November around 68, perfect for a fortnight away. Of course, it rained and rained but we'll not get into that. Booked the villa, the car and just needed flight tickets. In line with the bad time at work, a treat was in order. Start off the holiday as we meant to go on. Let's fly Business Class, or in BA's lingo, "Club Class" (CC). Now travelling this way isn't usual so don't go thinking I'm only a few quid behind the price of a pair ...
