British Midland Airways - BD

In my vanity, and partly for convenience, I decided to hop on a VERY short haul flight between LHR and MAN - the usual business-class-necessity briefcase and suit was absent. I was purely along for the ride and the experience. And at the bargain price of £11.00 I was pleased. I booked online at FlyBmi.com and didn't expect much of the airline to be honest. But certainly got more than I expected for my £11.00 fare - a newspaper to keep me occupied, ...
...Only problem was that the estimated transit time of 1 hour melted into 35mins! I had to gulp down my coffee, munch quickly on the breaky and then had a 25min wait in the airport carpark waiting for my lift! All a bit rushed!! The sedatory 4.5hr drive by car was probably a bit more MY STYLE! ...

To begin with the flight was adequate with a meagre sandwich and cursory refreshments offered. Frequently i have noticed that there is no service at all for the first 15 minutes of a flight which means the remaining 45 minutes are very rushed. Flying from Manchester to Chicago can seem a very daunting thought considering the 8 hours flying time. I dont know what i was worrying about. When turning up to check in my baggage, i was issued with my boarding cards and proceeded through security. when boarding my plane, the cabin crew directed me to my seat. as it turned out, the check in girl had upgraded to first class free of charge. The service was great, leg room was plentiful, all seats ...

Flights to and from Moscow are consistently delayed, BMI is to depart from Moscow at about the same time as BA, and us humble BMI customers have to watch enviously every time BA is to depart on time from Domodedovo, Moscow. I was tempted by somewhat lower price than BA, but the punishment - 100% not on time both to and from Heathrow for the last two years ...

I have just travelled to Leeds/Bradford for the weekend on BMI. Arrived at Heathrow T1 at 7.45am for an 8.55am flight. The queues were the longest I have seen for domestic departures at Heathrow - but only for BMI. As queued for a very long time, but reassured by the staff there was no problem with time for my flight and I would be called to jump the queue nearer the time. They kept telling me this until half an hour before departure time. Eventually ...
...at the head of the queue was OK about this but still told me not to worry as my flight had not been called. She then took me to a check-in desk - they promptly told me the flight was closed as it was 20 minutes before departure. I was furious, as were the 15+ people in the same situation. I regularly fly British Midland and benefit both from travelling Euro Class and being a silver car holder in the Diamond Club. Perhaps my views would be different if I did not have these privileges. On return journeys in particular, the lounge access I'm entitled to more than compensates for any delays and, on board, the meals and refreshments are consistently of a high quality. However, I would like to see British Midland do something about delays ...
