Advantages: Calm & Relaxed, reasonably close to the ciy, decent transport links Disadvantages: Lack of facilities in the terminal

Brussels South Charleroi is similar to other airports served by Ryanair - 40 minutes by bus from the airport to Maalbeek tube station (just a few stops from the Grande Place). The bus service connects with the Ryanair flights (the only scheduled airline to use the airport) so it has to wait for passenger collect their luggage and clear customs before departing. My attempt to get away quickly by only taking hand luggage ... ...a few each hour from Brussels Central Station to Charleroi. The official journey time was listed as 40 minutes, but on the Sunday when I travelled it was closer to 55 minutes. This was a very pleasant trip in a comfortable train costing 365 Belgian Francs (although I believe that it would have cost the same if I had come from further afield), and which passed close enough to see the famous monument at Waterloo.

Advantages: Easy to get to. Cheap flights with Ryanair Disadvantages: Very small. Not many facilities. Long queues on arrival
...from Gare du Midi in Brussels 2 and 1/2 hours before each flight) and by train ( From Gare du Midi to Charleroi Sud station and then a 12 minute bus link to the airport). The airport itself is pretty tiny with only a handful of check-in desks; therefore expect long queues! In terms of facilities it has a small paper shop, a variety of vending machines and a couple of small self service cafes and a tiny duty free shop. If you think you will want a ... ...to fully check in until you have paid. The Ryanair bus to Brussels costs 10 euros each way- be prepared for a rough journey as the drivers can be quite manic!
All in all, a very small airport with few amenities but clean and with easy transfers to Brussels. ...

...looking for, the result was Brussels S.Charleroi for 57 Euros for 2 people on a 2 day return basis. The first thoughts that were going through my head that it was an absolute dump of a bargain airport but to my surprise it wasnt that bad.
Everything within the airport is very closely knit together e.g. the check-in desks are very close to the departure gates, this is a lot different to my departure airport which was Dublin where I got lost a few ... ...for every flight that comes into the airport that brings you into the city centre. It costs around 10 Euros and leaves you off in the same place that it collects you again. The drop off point in the central station and then I got a train from there to the station closest to my hotel, this station was Port Louise. I thought that an improvement could be made on the facilities within the airport which include the shopping facilities on your departure ...
