...only drive automatic cars, and Budget was one of the companies that had a list of automatic cars I could choose one from. Staff at the desk were incredibly friendly. I was given tickets to come and go from the airport car park as I needed (I had to go to the airport a few times), so I did not have to pay for any parking. ...and try to avoid is Budget for the simple reasons that I find them sneaky, blatant liars and incompetent, especially in Ireland. I find that most of the time you have slight gripes about most rentals e.g. the car not being cleaned properly, the staff at the desk slow etc, but none of these are major issues. But it becomes a major issue when the likes of Budget don't look after their cars properly and send out unsuspecting hirers in their faulty cars, ...

I have used Budget car hire on a number of occasions from Belfast International Airport over the years. I usually book through an on-line agent called 'Auto Europe' who provide very competitive rates & discounts for regular use. The service provide by Budget staff is at best patchy. I normally book insurance in advance to protect my excess wavier of £600 which Budget charges anything up to £17.50 a day for. My on line charge works out at £3.80 a ...

Never again Watch out for underhand methods with this company! We hired a car for a long w/e in Belfast. Had CDW but refused the extra exhorbitant cost of safeguarding the excess so had £675 taken from my card. On returning the car to the airport there was no-one to check the car which was completely undamaged. They claimed the £675 would be credited overnight - still waiting two weeks later. After chasing Budget, claimed the windscreen was damaged (would have easily seen it if that were true). Had to chase for a resolution, rechase sending out accident forms and I am now promising legal redress unless resolved. BEWARE! ...

Do not trust Budget! I rented a car from Budget which had many scratches. Two weeks after I returned the car, I found that Budget had charged my credit card over £400. When I contacted Budget, they claimed that the charge was for a further scratch to this already-scratched car and that I had agreed to pay this damage charge. After I insisted that Budget prove that the car was damaged and that I agreed to pay this charge (which proof they initially refused to provide), they sent me an undated photo, with a two-centimetre scratch highlighted as being the new scratch, and a credit card slip with a forged signature. My tip: avoid Budget! ...
