Returned car and missed a day paying congestion charge.
BUdget charge 57pounds admin fee on top of the 60 pounds congestion charge fee.

Advantages: COULD be cheap Disadvantages: They add on hidden charges and try to trick you.
I rented a truck from them for a one-way, pre-picked my drop-off point, and had made careful calculations on different prices from other companies. After asking questions and making reservations over the phone, this was SUPPOSED to cost around $90-$100. When I went to drop it off, we found out that they had changed the drop off point on us; from there we received bad directions twice. Advantages: Initially the experience of picking up the car was satisfactory although ultimately misleading. Disadvantages: Appallingly slow customer services. Consistently misleading and lying.
...that point my experience with budget has been consistently appalling. I have been wrongly charged £750 for alleged damage and will now be seeking further legal advice after an extremely lengthy investigation process that exceeded Budgets own 20 working day deadline. I have felt totally misled on a number of ocassions from being told at pickup "Yes we will be open for you to return vehicle at 7pm on Sunday" which I have since discovered means no one ... ...you will be liable for the vehicle left in an open car park until we check it after an undefined period of time. I have also discovered that "we will complete an investigation in 20 days" is a guideline and that an investigation will take a undefined period of time to even begin. We hired 2 cars from Budget while on holiday in Florence, Italy. Collecting the cars took 2 hours which was just the start of things to come. One of the cars broke down on the second day and we had to wait the whole day for a tow truck to arrive. The car was then taken to a garage and fixed only to break down again on the third day. Again we had to wait for a tow truck and were without a car. In the end Budget supplied another smaller car via Avis. ...

...and friends to never use budget rentals for the rest of their lives. Our rental truck was stolen the first day we had it (yes, it was full of our belongings). Budget would not let us file a stolen vehicle claim with the police (the actual owner of the vehicle has to file the claim), nor would they file a police report. We were told that the insurance we paid for would cover the rental cost of the truck, but not our belongings. That is pretty standard ... ...(totally not secure). Also, Budget illegaly retrieved the truck before the police (the police are supposed to inspect a stolen vehicle before it is returned to the owner). So, we will never know if the lock was punched or if a key was used. We suspect the truck was stolen by an employee because they switched our truck at the last minutes after we had filled out the contract, and then they illegally retreived it. I WILL NEVER USE BUDGET AGAIN DUE TO A VERY UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT IN WHICH I WAS CHARGED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF MONEY ($84 FOR ONE DAY IN AN ECONOMY CAR) AFTER BEING MISLEAD AND LATER LIED TO BY TWO DIFFERENT COUNTER REPRESENTATIVES. THE FIRST ONE SIGNED US UP FOR A PREPAID FULL TANK OF GAS WITHOUT TELLING US, AND THE SECOND REPRESENTATIVE SAID WE WOULD BE CREDITED FOR THE UNUSED GAS (WE HAD USED LESS THAN 1/8 OF A TANK). WELL, WE WERE NEVER CREDITED, ... ...RECEIVED NOTHING BUT EVASIVE PAT RESPONSES REFUSING TO ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS OR ISSUE US A CREDIT. Beware, in the website the total of money you have to pay is NOT GIVEN. what you see in bold is just one of the fees you are going to pay. The total is only given to you once you pay (credit card). All fees are displayed in that page but the other fees are not in bold so that can be very very misleading. This is a very bad practice, it is misleading and they will never recognise that this is so (which is actually worse)

I rented BUDGET car while i was on a trip to medical conference. We agreed on price as decided, however on my return they charged me price almost double the price adding this and that charge that they did not mentioned a bit about. Two of their staff lied saying that they have menoned thus i have no option just pay. I always rented my car at budget but now i decided i never rent again. Watch out for Budget. I filled the car with a full tank of gas (7 gallons) before I returned it. The guy checked the tank and said it was fine and printed me out a receipt. Three days later I got a bill for $64.70. They said they had to put in 10 gallons of gas (yikes! I paid $2.19 for the gas I put in). I called customer service. They said that unless I had a printed receipt the best they could do is credit me half. I said that I had a credit card ...
