    Bukit Tinggi is a town in west Sumatra. How to reach this tourism-spot? Supposing you are really anxious to know the practical way to have a practical, economical and optimized traveling in Sumatra, you can read my opinion on “General Sumatra”. Verbally Bukit means mountain and Tinggi means High; hence this phrase means “high mountain”. There is a mount called Gunung Marapi (freely translated, this phrase means “the mount that has fire”) that can be viewed in Bukit Tinggi.     I live here for almost 4 years. The people is so friendly. And its save to travel here. For Example you can walk in these city in the midnight and you can a tour with a free lance tour guide from these city. And if you want to travel trough West Sumatra you can travel from here. You can travel To Lake Maninjau for 1 hour, Lake Singkarak 90 minutes , To Kings Palace "Pagaruyung" about 2 hours, to Mount Singgalang and Merapi 30 minutes, to Padang about 2 hours. And if you go to medan by car you can reach it for 10 hours. In Bukittinggi you can buy souvenir's. To Buy Some souvenirs ask some one ... more

    This is where you can get the bus down to lake Maninjau, and also take a trip to the Kings Palace. We befriended one of the locals, who took us to stay at her village, (Merapi), where we visited a local bullfight. She also arranged for us to climb an active volcano in the area. Be warned, this isn’t like Mt. Bromo in Java, which is an easy walk with steps up to the crater, but a fairly hard seven-hour night climb. I think it was about 2,800 meters. We made it to the top in time for the sunrise, which was great, amazing views, although it was extremely cold before the sun came out. Take a good ... more

    I have 3 times visit to “ Bukit tinggi “, a small town in west of sumatra a fresh tube and keep the natural, Bukit tinggi can be reached in 2 hours from the Minangkabau international airport, through “Padang panjang “ that is also cool.
