Sun, Sea, Sand And Skyline

Advantages: Excellent Entertainment, Sports facilities, Childrens Clubs, Swimming Pool
Disadvantages: Drinks In The Clubs can be Expensive, Clubs can be Over Crowded

...to go to Spain or Butlins and the answer will be ‘Butlins’ at least that’s the answer my 9 year old gave anyway. We have visited Butlins in Skegness 3 times previously. I guess it’s because there is simply so much to do for children of all ages that Butlins has to be the fun capital of the UK, even better than good old Blackpool! Butlins used to have many sites scattered across the country and in the days of old when I was a child myself (I can just ...
...A few years ago Butlins decided to have a total revamp. A lot of the sites that were previously Butlins now go under the name of ‘Haven’ another caravan/campsite company that also have excellent facilities. Butlins were transformed in to all action, fun packed resorts with facilities and entertainment second to none. In order to do this restructuring was needed and millions of pounds needed to be spent. This couldn’t be done on every single site ...

Go To Bognor For Brilliant Butlins Break

Advantages: The non-stop entertainment is first class, as are the redcoats.Great fun WILL be had by all.
Disadvantages: A bigger funfair would've been good.No net curtains in the accomodation.

...I took the family to Butlins was September 1999. There was me, the other half, and three kids, aged 8, 4 and 10 months .To be honest, I wasn't expecting much; it was just a British holiday camp. Which usually meant crap weather, and lots of cheesy holiday ‘fun’. But having a baby on board, I didn't really want to travel abroad. But judging by the fact that there are only three resorts to choose from these days, things had obviously changed since ...
...a great escape. Got kids? Butlins run a creche all day, which has to pre-booked, and a babysitting service in the evening. The charge for this was £5 an hour, and their ‘babysitters’ are mature women who have fantastic references. This holiday was the best I have ever had, certainly in England. They make everything easy for you, from start to finish, and if you are graced with three young kids like me, this is heaven on earth! The redcoats deserve ...

Butlins, Minehead - Cheap and cheerful

Advantages: good for kids, keeps them entertained, therefore keeps you happy!
Disadvantages: chalets are a bit tatty

...from a weeks break at Butlins in Minehead and we all had a fabulous time! Booking We booked our break quite late – about 6 weeks before we were due to go. The reason for this is because the longer you leave it the better the deal you get. Butlins offer some fabulous deals for late availability. Our break from Monday to Friday half board for 2 adults and 2 children worked out at £340.00. Bookings can be made direct through Butlins or through ...

This will show accommodation details and your check in desk number. Checking in You can check in on arrival from 4.00pm. They have moved the check in desks to the main pavilion now, which makes it much easier. Once they have confirmed your details you are handed a [pack that contains the keys to your accommodation ...

Want a cheap holiday

Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: None

...I took my family to Butlins at Bognor Regis. We found an offer in The Sun newspaper and you collect tokens for a cheap holiday. We had to give four different dates and locations and then they let us know where and when we would be going. Sounds strange I know having to be told when and where you can go but the savings are big. You pay £9.50 per person for a long weekend or a four-day week stay. Obviously like always there are extras such as an entertainment ...
...We decided to go half-board and the whole weekend cost £170 for the four of us to go and all we had to worry about was having a snack in the afternoon. Right enough about my bargain let me tell you more about the holiday. To find the site you have to follow the A259 coast road and then you cannot miss the place. If you travel by train the site is just a five-minute taxi ride away. Once there you will find so many activities on offer such as:- Amusements ...

Butlins Minehead - spent a whole load of cash!!

Advantages: Food is fantastic and place is child friendly
Disadvantages: Not much is free and not enough to do

...was out first trip to Butlins having previosuly tried Pontins and Haven years ago. This time it was my partner and I and our 13mth old son. We booked on the Mother and Baby magazine week as they described it as the perfect place to take a little tot. Travelling to - well considering it was a 5 hour journey for us and I have a habit of getting lost I think we did well as we made no wrong turns at all! You can follow the A38/30 striaght off the M5 ...
...you book midweek leave very early on friday if you go near the M5 and M6 as it took 10hours to arrive home! We were greeted by a red friendy redcoat and found the car park easily and check in was equally smooth. Our accomadtion was too small to fit the travel cot in (we had booked Silver Room) so we asked if we could upgrade. They were very helpful and for just £19 we upgraded to a 3 bedroom apartment with lots of space for our toddler. I think ...

Jolly Old Skegness

Advantages: Cheap, entertaining, easy to get to and great value for all.
Disadvantages: The red coats! I'm sure half of them auditioned for Popstars!

...been taking us kids to Butlins every year since before I was born. First Filey and then Skegness. It was THE place to go. By the time I was 16, I went through the usual teenage phase of not going on family holidays, but my family still continued to go with my little brother, niece and Nephews. The kids still love going there. In February, my niece finally convinced me to go back to my old childhood haunt and so I spent five days of the half term ...
...money holiday for young children, Butlins is still the place I’d go, just watch out for the Red Coats because they are all fame wannabes and are not as helpful as they used to be. So if you don’t want to go abroad and want to keep the children happy without having to smash open a cash machine with a sledgehammer, this is the place to go. You want proof, my sister got promoted and offered to take the kids to Disney Land. They refused to go, and ...

EXcellent Soul Weekend

Advantages: Good time, family enjoyment, well-known name
Disadvantages: If you eat out all the time you could blow a fortune!

...Weekend Break at the Skegness Butlins in the Spring of 2000. It was brilliant. My best mate's brother-in-law, Steve, booked it over the internet and most of her family went - Steve, his wife, 2 kids and a friend, my mate and her hubby, one of her kids and his girlfriend, and me. Enough of us to get a discount on the rate! Drove there to arrive on the Friday afternoon (check in was 4pm) and we stayed until Monday morning. We were in 2 apartment type ...
...Check them out at the Butlins website: http://www.butlins.co.uk Even though these Weekenders are usually "out of season" offerings, all the other stuff was open. The food places, arcades, bingo, etc - all the stuff that helps suck your money down. Each of the couples that were with me spent 22 quid or more over the weekend. Fans of mine know I am a cheapie. I blew a whole twelve quid the whole time we were there, and it would have been under a ...

Sunny skegness.

Advantages: Cheap all in entertainment
Disadvantages: The British weather

I had always gone to butlins as a kid. Filey as it was the closest to us, but we did spend one year at Minehead. I remembered having a great time every year so this year, after not having a holiday for over 20 years, decided to book a holiday at butlins, Skegness. I booked over the telephone and found the staff I spoke to very helpful and polite. Paid my deposit using my solo card and when the confirmation arrived a week later paid the balance. All ...
...A week before we were due to leave I recieved a letter asking me if I wanted to upgrade from a studio apartment to a gallery apartment. After talking it through with my family (husband, 18 year old daughter and her fiance) we decided to stay with the studio apartment. It would have cost us an extra £5 each. That's all!! As Skegness was so far away, almost 500 miles, we left home on the sunday and stayed at my sisters (100 miles away) overnight. ...

A fun packed family holiday

Advantages: Great time for all the family with lots for things to do for all
Disadvantages: expensive eating at takeaway places

After recently coming back from Butlins Skegness, I thought I would write a review on the place. On arriving at Butlins the first thing you have to do it to find your check in desk to get your room keys. This is very easy if you have a desk number, unfortunately if you haven’t then expect a hour wait as you queue up to get the information from the service desk. However a quicker way around this I found out after waiting for an Hours is to go ...
...the Red Coats they will then jump the queue for you and tell you where to go (in the nice way). Anyway the rooms are excellent, well-decorated, and tidy and if you are going self-catering they provide you with everything you need to cook your meals. There is a television in the room, and our room had a very nice breakfast bar to which you can eat your meals on. The bedrooms are not luxury, however are ideal for you to sleep in at nighttime. The bathroom ...

We're All Going On a Summer Holiday!!

Advantages: Kiddies love it!!
Disadvantages: Not a lot to do when it rains and you're there for a whole week!!

...a few days later at Butlins Skegness. Here's an account of how my family found the experience. A little info about Butlins: Billy Butlin formed the company in 1936 to provide affordable holidays to families with young (and older) children, with Skeggie being the first resort, and the famous Redcoats were born. They boast a friendly atmosphere, family entertainment and plenty of facilities to keep everyone amused. Butlins later opened up two more ...
...and when we went to Butlins the panto was Dick Whittington. The kids and adults alike enjoyed this production and for those not interested in the panto, there was a performing Circus also arranged on that day and time. (This was actually a bit of a disappointment, as both were worth watching in my opinion.) There are also discos for the younger ones, live shows such as the School show which was hilarious, and comedians, organised for every evening. ...

Nice Place, Shame About The Vomit.

Advantages: Cheap, Good leisure facilities, good location
Disadvantages: Vomiting problems, Rude staff

We visited Minehead Butlins on June 28th 2002, having booked a one week half board holiday in a Gallery room for approx £190 each. I was accompanying several adults with a range of physical and learning disabilities, who had some very specific special needs, that Butlins had assured me would be catered for in several telephone calls and letters passed between myself and the camp in Minehead before our departure. Checking in was a joy for us, as due ...
...The walk in shower that Butlins had promised us was sitting on the floor in one of the bedrooms. A dirty great hole was in the bathroom where the shower should have sat. The room itself was filthy, and had a terrible smell about it. These problems aside, it was clearly not big enough to manoeuvre our clients and their equipment around in. Butlins were aware of our needs before we booked, so I was a little annoyed that they had blatantly ignored our ...

The next day dawned, suprisingly the sun was shining and aforementioned daughter was bouncing on the bed, ready for whatever the holiday was going to throw at us. So you can do self-catering and stay in one of the older blocks, shop at the on site supermarket or eat at the various restaurants including Harry Ramsdens, Burger king and the Tom Cobbleigh pub. Or you can do half board, stay in a modern pastiche of the Truman show town and eat in a refurbished ...

Relive your childhood.

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, lots to do.
Disadvantages: Not for the culture-vultures!

I'd never been to butlins before this. And for some strange reason (partly fueled, I suspect, by large quantities of alcohol), my wife and I, her parents, her cousins, plus cousin's girlfriend and 5 month old baby, and of course our 2 yr old, Emily, decided to take a pilgrimage to Minehead in early June "for a break". To be honest, I didn't really know what to expect from Butlins. I thought it would be cheap and tacky, and full of the sort of people ...

It seemed to be a mishmash of flashing lights, shouting voices, music, screaming kids, electronic beeps... although I'm the first to admit that it could get very wearing, it actually heightened the excitement for our whole party. After collecting the keys, we reparked the car nearer (slightly) to the accomodation, and grabbed ...

Hi de Hi de Ho

Advantages: Good, cheap family holidays!!!
Disadvantages: Not the height of luxury

...biased with my opinion of Butlins 'cos I was once a redcoat (not for long, couldn't sleep with enough people to gain any credibility in the job). I love Butlins! I used to go there for many a weekend break, just 'cos it was so cheap and a real escape from life! In the olden days, they used to do "adult only" comedy weekenders which my boyfriend and I used to love; no kids getting under your feet, and the comedy was absolutely brilliant. They have ...
...the past couple of years Butlins have cleaned up their act somewhat. They no longer allow parties of "lads" in and it has become a real family orientated holiday. The whole holiday sites have had a makeover; the accommodation (which was a little shabby in the past) has been revamped and modernised and really offers great value for money. When I went last year, they had done away with the adult only weekends (which saddened me) - but I got a leaflet ...

a great family holiday!

Advantages: loads of kiddie orientated entertainment and a chance to be a kid again yourself!
Disadvantages: expensive over crowded venues in peak times.

I have been going to Butlins since I was 8 yrs old. i am now 32! We go there every year at least twice. We go to Minehead in Somerset and its a sea side resort with stunning countryside and views, lots of things to do outside the camp (if you get time). The west Somerset railway, Dunster castle and the beach to name but three. There have been a lot of changes to the camp over the years, and its certainly not hi-de-hi like people might think. We ...
...totally then this is it Butlins has it all. i love being a kid again for a weekend! Be careful of the full price offers in the brochure, always look online or in the paper for the best deals. check out the prices for half board, self catering is very often only around £20 cheaper, the food you get in half board is well worth the money as the restaurants such as pizza hut, burger king, bar rosso and skyline cafe are hugely expensive. Since going ...
