fun for family and friends

Advantages: lots to do for everyone
Disadvantages: a bit pricy

Butlins ahhh the typical family entertainment centre. Actually it has provided great fun for families right from the beginning and it still does now. Butlins in my opinion has improved greatly since those big white pavilions were built now you could go there for days an not get bored. ~~~Accommodation~~~ Right lets start with the very basic. You can go to Butlins in a touring caravan if the fancy takes you… or if you want to enjoy the fun but ...
...accommodation is on the Butlins site itself close to the entertainment and the action. You can chose to go half board or self catering. All apartments have their own kitchenette. The apartment that I stayed in was one of mid range value and lets just say you could live in in full time. It had two moderately sized bedrooms. And a kitchenette/ sitting room the bathroom was a good size as well and actually had a bath in. all accommodations are provided ...

Still a little grim

Advantages: good for the kids
Disadvantages: a week far to long

Every half term since my daughter started school four years ago we have gone somewhere different in this country, this year we decided to give Butlin’s at Skegness a go. We got the brochure and looked at it and decided if we should have a weekend or mid week and actually decided on the full week. We duly paid our deposit and eventually the final payment which came to a total of £344 plus £1 for using a credit card, so £345 for a weeks self ...
...the best type of accommodation. Arrival went smooth enough and we got to the apartment and were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. After unpacking and putting things away as you do we went out for a meal with the kids and another couple that we were on holiday with to the Sun and Moon bar restaurant, which is a Tom Cobleigh establishment. We were surprised to find that they had only 5 menus for the whole restaurant and I could only imagine ...

A Traditional Holiday

Advantages: great fun, lots to do and see
Disadvantages: very expensive these days

...months afterwards too. So Butlins holidays in the 1980s were wonderful, dream-like and full of happy memories. But what about nowadays ? I have been to the Butlins camps in Minehead and Bognor in the last decade, since having four children of my own. Things have definitely changed, not always for the better either. Butlins is trying to lose its working class, cheap and cheerful image. It has done this effectively by introducing more expensive ...
...professional. The whole Butlins experience has been polished and preaned, but they have outpriced themselves. It is now cheaper to go abroad than to go to Butlins for a week. But it still retains that image, where people will turn their noses up if you say you are going to Butlins. The irony of it is that the "ordinary" family cannot afford to go on a Butlins holiday now, and those that can afford it feel it is beneath them. ...

ARE YOU A BEAVER

Advantages: good for children no flying
Disadvantages: a little expensive, shows repeated sometimes

...how many will remember the butlins song for kids? Beavers, beavers, beavers all, we like sing and act a fool, we like to drink to keep us cool, we are the butlins beavers..... Butlins has been around for some time now. Over the years it has changed, the main time being with the sell off. Some of the camps have now been sold. Like the ones in scotland and wales. This was probably down to to weather, cold in scotland and floods wales lately. Still ...
...butlins have to offer now? Butlins now have 3 camps namely at bognor regis, minehead and skegness. The facilities at these camps have all improved over the years and have syline pavillion, splash waterworld, sports and leisure, centre stage and reds plus lots of bars and restaurants.Butlins is for all the family and has little clubs from birth age right up to teens. Then night clubs for adults only too. BUTLINS SKEGNESS what a brilliant holiday

Advantages: Loads of entertainment for everyone
Disadvantages: Some extra charges, food can be expensive

I first went to Butlins in Skegness in March 1999 as it was a preview week a sort of a taster to show everyone how it had changed. i was very impressed and went back in feb 2000 and feb 2001. i choose to go at school half term because it is cheaper and the kids dont need to have time off school. i also book off he teletext because that is cheaper than the brochure although you have to wait till about 6 weeks before you go. About my last Butlins ...
...me and my 4 children and i will put the rest in paragraphs.. ACCOMMODATION Absolutely lovely, spacious and clean and although they were economy i found they were no different to my friends who was staying in studio (maybe a bit near the entertainment) although ours wasnt far away either. ENTERTAINMENT Fantastic, while we was there there was a Britney Spears tribute an illusionist and loads more in the Centre Stage. There is also the Reds but ...

Disadvantages: None if you know what you're doing!

...and son have been to Butlins Skegness since son was 3, fifth time there...OAPs have not been on hols in 18yrs...seasoned pro's that we are got through it unscathed! 1) Check in: Why queue?? you do not need to join the giant snake protruding from the door at your place of check in...if you are early, go back later and check some stuff out, we were a little late coming on the national express...walked straight in got our keys...then us and OAPs were ...
...times to go for breakfast and dinner, while the restaurant is do-able, the best times for breakfast are 8-15 to 8-50 for turning up for a seat, you miss the earlies and also the people that can't get up in the morning. Dinner is best eaten around 4.40, get in there before the ten past five rush, that way you are sat down at the seat of your choice and not herded round like cattle banging chairs into all and sundry! I appreciate these times may not ...

Butlins Skegness management lied to us

Advantages: Redcoats and restaurant excellent
Disadvantages: Very limited facilities off-peak

...and 6yo) we holiday at Butlins two or three times a year. We were offered a half-board package at a reduced rate; off peak during the first week in April 2003. DIARY. Monday: arrived and housed with no problems. Fox kids Fort was closed at 5pm instead of dusk (7pm). Dragon coaster and other rides not operating. This so-called "U" break was in fact a 60's break with no entertainment for kids after 8pm all week. Restaurant was totally brill in every ...
...play area. We return to Butlins and pass the Dodgems where the staff have clearly had their butts well kicked - they are out of their kiosk now and are placed to police the ride. The Fox Fort is now open until dusk too - only problem is some kid has done a Poo in there, so, yes, you've guessed - guest services again - then I guard the Poo while the No 2 squad fails to arrive; luckily I spot a road cleaner Brian who did a great disposal job. Should come with an Idiots guide to....

Advantages: Entertainment, Parking and Entertainment
Disadvantages: Hard work seeing and doing what you want.

...dream holiday would be at Butlins before my wife and I had got the brochure. I guess it’s just one of those things you think you should do while you have a young family. My wife and I are in our 30’s and our 4 children are 14, 7, 6 and 4 so entertainment and value where my main considerations. When the younger kids saw the brochure there was no real turning back as they love Big Dave from Playhouse Disney, the Power Rangers and Noddy. After dredging ...

Great, cheap breaks

Advantages: Not just for kids
Disadvantages: Very busy

...returned from a weekend at Butlins and thought I would write a review on this... After a recent holiday to majorca my partner and I felt a bit down and wanted something else to look forward to so we booked a last minute weekend break to Butlins.... At first we were a bit dubious as we know it would be very busy being school holidays and didn't think we would find as much as we would want to entertain us... We booked online at a total cost of £190 ...
...There is also a few cafe's situated throughout. Other entertainment includes a smal fairground, go-karts, Mega Zone laser, numerous arcades, Gala Bingo, Archery, Pool,Table Tennis, Splashes Tropical Swimming Pool and outdoor fun pool, Bowling and lots more. I would certainly recommend Butlins for a long weekend break. ...

Butlins - a place for all the family. the old, the young and the inbetween. but it hasn't always been like that. Butlins has recently declined in popularity over the past few years and less and less people are deciding to go there on holiday/for a short break. they offer many facilities including leisurely things such as tennis courts, swimming pools. social things such as bingo, kiddies discos, teenager discos, pubs and clubs. there are many things ...

Disadvantages: Less to do for toddlers

...a 5 day holiday to Butlins at Minehead for the end of September 2005. We were very pleased with the price, which included dinner, bed & breakfast and were staying in a Silver Apartment in order to get the living space. If we had just stayed in the Silver Accommodation, once our son had gone to bed at 7.00pm, but we would have had to go too, so we upgraded in order to be able to watch the telly at night! From the brochure description, we had hoped ...

BUTLINS - MINEHEAD march 2003

Disadvantages: needs a coat of paint and more looes!!

...just up the road from Butlins and makes a pleasant walk where yoy van wander around the shops. Arrival We arrived on the Friday but as we were not premium guests we had to wait until 1600 to check in which went smoothly enough. Food We had decided to go half board as the children are always hungry and on our first trip to the restaurant it was chaos to say the least. It wasn't really very well explained and a top tip is to sit as far away from the beaten track as poss to avoid getting bumped into and having to move etc. However people soon came to grips ...

Time for mum and dad to relax!

Advantages: Great entertainment and food
Disadvantages: Apartments could be cleaner

...board side of things. Butlins have recently changed their restaurants. It used to be that you had to sit at a specific table everyday, waitress service and a choice of 3 or so options for each course. Now it is all self service, which at first you think 'what a cheek', well I did, and being 32 weeks pregnant was not something I was going to look forward to. However, you could eat as much food as you wanted with so much choice, especially in the evening...pasta, ...
...With a 3 year old, Butlins is the place to be. He was in his element for the 5 days. Noddy's toyland had lots of rides suitable for his age. There was a soft play area with 3 levels in which he spent a few hours each day (giving mummy and daddy a bit of a break!). The massive swimming pool has boat flumes, wave machine, whirlpool and an area of water slides and play area for younger children. A large funfair is outside with go-kart racing and there ...

...a four night stay at Butlins and I must say the whole family had a fantastic time!! :O) We had booked a Silver self catering holiday for 2 adults and 4 kids for middle of April for £158 !!!!! Now you can't quibble for that price. We arrived at 4pm which is check in time. Adult Weekend Breaks Review

Advantages: Great nightlife, Fantastic atmosphere, Wide variety of food/drink
Disadvantages: Poor accomodation, Food served in the main restaurant wasn't fantastic

I went to the adult Hot Summer Party weekend with a friend for three nights. I can't comment on the family holdays as I haven't been on one of these breaks, so this review is really just for people who are looking to go on one of Butlins' adult breaks. For me, one of the best things about the holiday was that there were no children around. It was nice to be in the swimming pool and restaurant etc without running into kids and hearing screaming babies. ...
...day you can sit outside on the green, go swimming, use the arcades in the dome, or go for a walk along the beach, which we found was a fantastic cure for hangovers. The food served in the restaurant wasn't amazing, but there was a wide variety to choose from, and you could eat as much as you wanted. There were also lots of fast food places which served pizzas and burgers etc. The nightlife was also great, with a traditional pub, an Irish pub, a ...
