Quick review of Butlins

I totaly agree i went in july 2007 and it was so poor standard i hated it has gone down hill since 2000 - 2001 it was great then but i only saw 2 redcoates the whole time i was there for the weekend and they never interacted with any children there was crowds so bad and the skyline had been made in to a circus and you cant see the stage anymore and no music videos played on the big screen very boring unlike the advert ...

Quick review of Butlins

Since 1980 (when i was a tot) my family have been enjoying Butlins my best memories were from Barry Islands sadly Barry no longer has Butlins and I am unable to take my children there. However every year my family and my sister family go every may this year another 4 families are joining us. Minhead here we come, as adults we are able to sit back relax whilst our children are entertained day and night the food is great and the people we met there are always ready to have a laugh and mix with each other Butlins are still doing it all these yaers later ...

...Uh...where's the fun stuff?

Advantages: Good for young children if you are prepared to make an effort
Disadvantages: There's not as much there as they would lead you to believe...

I went to Butlins in Bognor Regis with my mum and my younger brother (by three years) when I was about fourteen then when I was sixteen. My mum was really excited because we do not usually do anything as family so we were all looking forward to it. We spent about two hours on a coach then when we got there we spent about another two hours looking for the "stuff to do". The arrangement of the "activities" looked fun - lots of colours and shapes, but ...
...to do. There were lots of children of five and under running around and using the mini-fun fair indoors and eating ice cream, and I am under the impression that there were shows to watch but we felt a bit old for the whole thing. None of us are accomplished swimmers and so the idea of shooting through some long tube into a pool of screaming seven year-olds did not really appeal to us, so the pool was not really an option. We could not afford to ...

Skegness is a yes for us

Advantages: Excellent value for money, entertainment and the kids will love it
Disadvantages: Accomodation can be a let down

We have visited Butlins for a number of years for two main reasons.....value for money and unbeatable fun for kids. The imposing Skyline pavillion dominates a large proportion of the site and is brilliant for entertaining in wet weather as everything is under one roof. The entertainment here is professional with circus entertainers galore. Our little ones love the Noddy themed funfair which they can ride on till their hearts content AT NO COST ...
...outside one for the older ones too. One main drawback is still the accomodation which I still find tired and dirty nomatter whether you upgrade or not, still it still didn't defer from our break. You can go catering or self and we've done both. The catered food is edible and plentiful if not gormet and with big names loike Burger King and Harry Ramsdens you can always opt for a quality take-away. All in all we wouldn't hesitate to recommend - ...

Butlins Bognor Regis

Advantages: Entertainment for young children
Disadvantages: Accomodation standards need improving

I think Butlins is a fantastic holiday for young children however not so good for teenagers. There is plenty of entertainment including character appearances, shows, swimming pool and early evening entertainment for children. There is also later evening entertainment for adults. The accommodation is not great, but most of it in Bognor is being knocked down and rebuilt so should improve in the next few years. I would recommend staying in the hotel ...

Butlins Bognor Regis

Advantages: Plenty for the kids
Disadvantages: Not as good as it used to be..gripe..moan

...only 30 as I write!) Butlins is a good place to go with kids, who will find plenty to occupy their week. Adults can catch up on their kip in a tiny chalet and let the kids run off to play. The seemingly millenium-dome inspired canopy that covers a large area is pretty useful given the English weather. Half-board food isn't bad, and the two meals a day is enough given the portions and the timing. ...

A Treat at Skegness

Advantages: Lots to do
Disadvantages: No so much to do for the Adults during the day

From the time we arrived and saw our three bedroomed, vast chalet to the end of our stay we were impressed. We have recently been on Haven holidays but felt that our kids were now old enough, and fed up with Haven enough, to try Bultins. It worked. There was plenty of entertainment from the puppet circus and lots of speciality acts to the four night clubs. We only tried the centre club and in there we enjoyed shows about 70's, 80's, and 90's music ...
...the Madonna tribute band. We also had an evening of unplugged music and that was good to. The children enjoyed the inside swimming pool and the freedom allowing them to prowl through the Pavillion, amusements, fort and other attractions. There was also plenty of places to eat from quality carveries, pub meals, pizza and kabab shops to eating at the chalet where ther was a micro wave and cooker. All in all we enjoyed this holiday and noticed the ...

Noddyland here we come.

Advantages: great for kids, rides included
Disadvantages: accommodation basic at times, can be expensive

...as well, we love butlins mainly because the kids love the little funfair rides and because they are included in the price they can just keep going on them time after time, We always go half board ( I do enough cooking at home ) and we have a silver apartment for the extra space the food is not brilliant but we can always find something we like and if I have,nt had to cook it thats good enough for me. there is plenty to do all day long and they are ...

Chav-tastic Bognor

Advantages: Family Holidays, good for kids.
Disadvantages: It has one in Bognor Regis.

...ol' rock and roll. Butlins was given the but of the main clubs/ bars, the stamp club, and classic cars club run meetings, check out www.bognor-regis.co.uk for dates and times. The good thing about Bognor, is its within driving distance of Portsmouth, and Chichester. Portsmouth being the Modern town for clubs and shopping, and Chichester being the fantastically beautiful old town with many of its old churches. The train station in Bognor is a mere ...
...fragile minds with. Within Butlins you can offload the youngens on to a poor failed acting student in a red coat who will procede to rip their own hair out for the day so you can have a rest. There is plenty of sports and entertainment for them to distroy. If your kiddies are still suckling, there is a creche that you can dump them in, while you purchase and alcoholic beverage or two. In the evening, drag your family along to the Centre Pavillion ...

Get tickets out of the newspaper

Advantages: Use a base to come back to and sleep
Disadvantages: I like to find my own entertainment

...best way to go to Butlins is to collect the tickets out of the newspaper and you can have a 3 or 4 day break for about £40 for a family of 4. I have been to Butlins before and the best thing to do is use the accomodation as a base and get round and see all the sites out side the camp. To me Butlins is still in the 1960's and they have not really woken up to what the public want on a holiday, but I know that I would rather not have a holiday than ...

Disadvantages: could do with more for teenagers

...and two teenage bvoys to butlins self catering for a week .We didn't even have to stay in one of the old hi-de-hi style chalets!!There are now 4 different types of accommodation from economy, the very basic.Studio, better but with a family someone still has to sleep in the kitchen-cum -lounge.Gallery,spacious roomy with separate bedrooms.Deluxe, beautiful but out of my price bracket!!We stayed in gallery accomodation which was great. As for the entertainment ...

Adults only weekend, child free zone!

Advantages: everything's onsite, something to do even if it rains
Disadvantages: can end up spending more than intended!

For anyone who thinks Butlins in full of children and is put off, an andult only weekend could be your thing. The entertainment was great, complex itself was not too busy. (as it was mid september) we had no distance to travel after having a few too many lemonades! just stumbled back to our room. This was very basic, but clean all the same. The price of the break was reasonable, had to ring the booking line as there was a problem with the website. ...
...quoted on website!) Staying half board can save some money. Although you have to eat within set times(getting up in time for breakfast can be difficult after all those lemonades!) It does get busy and food choice's can be limited. On the whole quite a cheap short break. within easy walking distance to a beach, so you have the option of staying on the complex or exploring elsewhere. ...

Advantages: 1 if you dont go there
Disadvantages: Its crap and you can go to a lot better

Went to this shithole on the 24th to the 28th of october..what a dump ...first off they screwed our dates up saying we should have been there the week before(when 4 adults took time off work with 2 small children ).we were booked in as self catering so we had 2 cars full of food...so because of the balls up they "upgraded"us to half board ...we then found a disgusting appartment with no lounge area and no kitchen ...so food wasted. Then went and ...
...microwave and fridge...but no they wouldnt even do that ,..place was just a giant arcade costing more money by the minute...shower stank and we had no curtains in one room ...i then asked someone to sort the curtain prob out ....2 days later they where fixed ....none of the staff hardly speak english ...they dont understand a bloody word ...NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!...just going to set up a web site keep a look out for it ..www.butlinsisbollocks.com ...
