The CN Tower is an impressive structure that brings in around two million visitors every year. It is symbolic of Toronto, really stands out against Toronto’s skyline and has officially been named one of the seven modern wonders of the world. Being at the top of the tower is a completely fascinating and absorbing experience though probably best to stay away if you are afraid of heights! Location The CN tower is located in the Canadian city of Toronto within the province of Ontario – east Canada. The tower is located beside the waterfront or Toronto’s “HarbourFront” at 301 Front Street West.. It ... more

Advantages Advantages Breath Taking views value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you suffer with vertigo or fear of hights you may have reservations

It was early evening when I paid my visit to the Tower; the sky was still bright with the sun although it was making its journey further west. I had spent an exciting day exploring the city, taking a ferry over to the harbour islands and touring the wonderful gardens and the amusement park located at their center and to crown the day was a visit to the CN Tower. It was the last week of August, Toronto was in the height of its tourist season, a week before Labour Day and during the Canadian Exhibition celebrations and I was on a once in a life time holiday. From virtually every point of the ... more

So this next review is about my experience in the CN tower, when I visited Toronto Canada. I had visited a number of big attraction sights in Toronto, but this was one of the one’s that a enjoyed extremely. It was fun, exciting, bold and out of this world, it was a plus that I wasn’t afraid of heights, so for anyone who does suffer from vertigo, it might be a challenge to visit this place. I had been to Toronto once before, however I was only 8 and thus didn’t have the chance to visit the CNN tower only views it from outside. I promised myself that I would come back one day to visit this ... more

As soon as I had decided to go to Toronto, I began looking up things to do and see while I was there. Visiting the CN Tower was on the very top of my list! History The CN Tower actually stands for Canada’s National Tower, after the railway company who built it, which was something I didn’t know until I actually visited this amazing attraction. When the tower was completed in 1976, it became the world’s tallest freestanding building at a massive 553.3 metres (1,815 ft) tall and it kept this title for 34 years. The tower was originally used as a communications and observation tower. As well as ... more

If you only do one thing while visiting Toronto, make sure you visit the CN Tower. The views from the top of Toronto's highest structure will make you fall in love with one of the world's most beautiful cities. From up here you can see all of downtown Toronto as well as the beauty of Lake Ontario and Toronto Islands. ♣ The tower ♣ The CN Tower was built in 1976 by Canadian National (CN), in an effort to demonstrate Canada’s strong industry. At 533 metres (or 1,815 feet), the CN Tower has, perhaps surprisingly, gained the status of being the highest building in the world. It is also ... more

Advantages Advantages High, great view, must see

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, queues, too high for some!

If you asked most people to name an attraction in Toronto then the CN Tower would probably come top of the list. It is an icon of the city and a massive tourist attraction. So is it worth all the hype? HISTORY: The CN Tower or Canadian National Tower is described as the 'Canadian Wonder of the World' and with good reason. The Tower was built in 1976 by Canadian National and was originally designed to be used for transmitting TV and radio signals. It was never intended to be a tourist attraction but what did they really expect? It is still used for its intended purpose but is also now a huge ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Vertigo anyone?

In honour of Canada's birthday last week I thought I would write a review about the CN Tower (Canadian National is what CN stands for) which is the defining feature of the Toronto skyline. Set next to Lake Ontario the CN Tower is an iconic Canadian image and a building for the record books. Finished in 1975 the CN Tower is the World's Tallest Free Standing Structure at just over 553 metres. According to its website (http://www.cntower.ca/) the CN Tower also holds the following records: * World's highest public observation gallery * Sky Pod at 447 m (1,465 ft.) * World's highest bar - Horizons ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages ...only on a clear day, expensive, queues can be horrendous in summer

It’s bloody tall! That’s the first impression you get when you stand at the base of the CN Tower and look up (you cannot see the top of the tower when you do this, as the observation deck obstructs your view). And it’s no surprise it’s so bloody big, as this is in fact the World’s largest free-standing structure, at an incredible 553m high (I know, it’s etched on my souvenir mug, which was bought just last month!) Seen from far away this tower looks impossibly thin, but once you reach the base of it, you realise it’s a very wide strong tower, giving you a little confidence that it will stay ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great experience

Our recent trip to Canada started and ended in Toronto, and with just over a day to kill before the flight brought us back to good old Blighty, there were a couple of things we really wanted to do. One of these was to travel up to the top of what was once the world's tallest free standing structure, the CN Tower. To be honest, the Tower, which sits a few blocks away from the shoreline of Lake Ontario, is not the most accessible place if you approach it from the north. You arrive with too many stairs and bridges to negotiate, and if you don't enter the building at the right point, you can get ... more

The CN (Canadian National) Tower is without a doubt the star of Toronto's impressive skyline. It towers over some of the smaller yet still impressive buildings around it and makes it one of the most eye catching and unique skylines in the world. No visit to Toronto should pass without a trip up the CN Tower, that's for sure. Standing at over 533 metres the CN Tower has gained and lost various accolades. When it was built, it was the tallest tower in the world and the tallest free standing structure in the world. It lost both of those titles after thirty odd year when other buildings took over ... more
