Lift me up

Advantages: Fantastic Views, Safe, Reliable
Disadvantages: Not ideal for someone scared of heights

...point is 1085m. The Cable card ride is the quickest and easiest way to reach the summit taking between 5-10 minutes traveling at approximately 10 meters per second. The Cableway was built on 4 October 1929 and since then has received 3 upgrades to ensure its safety. The Cablecars take a capacity of 65 people, and the floor slowly rotates to give you a panoramic view as you ascend. Adult - Return: South African Rand 120.00 which is approximately ...
...website to view if the cable car is running and what visibility is like at the summit to make it worth your while. I was a little anxious of completing the Cable car ride after watching a scene in a James Bond movie witnessing Jaws chew through the cables with his metal teeth and since then I have been terrified of them, however the option I was faced with was getting on the cable car or hiking up the mountain alone not something I would advise ...

Table mountain couldn't be more accessable

Advantages: Quick and easy
Disadvantages: Not as much sense of achievement as walking

...at least walking to the cable cars but it really is a long way! It's considered quite expensive by locals but as a tourist it wasn't too pricey. R85 for a student ticket (usually only SA student cards accepted) and around R100 for the general public. There was barely a wait as the car can fit a lot of people. The car then rotates as it goes up the mountain so everyone gets a chance to take pictures out of the open window rather than through the plastic ...
...specialist equipment. Also, as with anywhere, the weather can change quickly. It's important to seek local advise. The walk from the visitors centre to the bottom of the mountain is considerable so, unless you're resonably fit and in a large group with warm clothing, I recommend taking the cable car. ...

Best view of Cape Town

Advantages: The best view of Cape Town
Disadvantages: Parking in peak periods

...had previously been up the cable car but in March last year I took my partner up to enjoy the experience. The cable car station is situated part way up the face of the mpuntain but is very well signposted from town. Upon entry you may be put off by the large number of cars trying to find a place to park but do not let this deter you as you there are constantly people coming and going and a space will become available. We found one after a few minutes ...
...recommend a trip up the cable car as it is a great way to get your bearings and using it is a great alternative to walking up which would take a few hours! I wouldn't go on a day where there is heavy cloud as this would severely restrict your view and be a waste of a trip. I would take my own refreshments up as the prices at the cafeteria are very expensive even for the English tourist. ...

Quick review of Cable Car Ride up Table Mountain

The ride with the cable car up to Table Mountain is very exiting. Inside the cable car rotates so you can see all the sinery around you. You can see the protia flower which is the national flower of South Africa. You can also see the sea if you are lucky enough to be facing it. So next time you visit South Africa I recommend you go see Tabe Mountain and take the cable car. ...

Table Mountian

Advantages: Fabulous views
Disadvantages: Cant visit when the Table cloth is down (Clouds)

...I have been on the cable car up to table mountian twice now ,back in the seventies when they had the old cable car ,and again in the nineties with the cable car now upgraded the ride is alot smoother. I was very scared at first but went along with my family and didn't want the kids to see how scared that I was..
