Advantages Advantages Freshly prepared food, well cooked, Good menu

Disadvantages Disadvantages Service impersonal, too fast!!

On a dark, wet and windy night in late December, we arrived at Café India in Albion Street, in the Merchant City area of Glasgow with great anticipation. I had heard good things about this restaurant and wanted to try it out. On entering the restaurant, we were asked by a waiter to take a seat in the reception area (in our wet coats) and he would be back in a minute. Although I had made a reservation, this seemed to be of little or no interest, as there were plenty of vacant tables. We were quickly shown to a table, but before we could sit down, we had to ask if there was somewhere we could ... more

    Advantages Advantages Decor is nice

Disadvantages Disadvantages Food, service, price, music, location of toilets and pretty much anything else you can think of.

Went in there the other night with two friends and what a massive mistake it was when you consider the riches Glasgow has to offer in the way of indians let alone restaurants. We walked in a couple minutes past six, didn't expect to get the pre-theatre menu (which finishes at 6!!!! What theatre show do you know that's on at 6?!?!?! Stupid time to end) but we were seated and given the pre-theatre menu anyway. After sitting for a good 10 minutes we had decided on our food before a very curt and rude staff member (i think he had a beard) came over and yanked the menus out of our hands and told us ... more

    Advantages Advantages Locality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor service

Eight of us met for a family lunch on a quite Saturday afternoon. Aside from us there were 2 other tables, each with 2 people. Unfortunately during out dining we had to constantly prompt the waiting staff to bring starters, meals, deserts and drinks orders which were ordered but did not arrive. It took 20 minutes for everyones desert to arrive, by which point we had decided we should all just tuck in, rather than politely wait until they had all arrived. This resulted in 2 members of our group trying to wolf down their pud after the rest of us had finished - this did not prevent the waiting ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Food and service

Disadvantages Disadvantages Skiffle between unprofessional staff

My husband and I were in Glasgow last week and visited Cafe India on a recommendation of a friend who goes regulary. I have to say that we were warmly welcomed into the restaurant and drinks order taken promptly. The food was excellent and the service was great - the waiters have a good banter. Everything was great until near the end of our meal a bit of an argument broke out between the 2 staff members behind the bar.. an elderly gentleman in a suit (who I believe to be the owner) and an Asian girl. I found this very unprofessional! Our waiter apologised for this. It was a busy night and I ... more
