We reached Cannes by train from Nice. It is approximately a half an hour journey by train from Nice along the beautiful Mediterranean coast and the trains are very frequent. There are direct trains (both high speed TGV and normal) from Paris, too. The nearest airport is at Nice. It takes about an hour by road to reach Cannes from Nice airport. Apart from rental car services, there are bus connections from the airport, too.

I went out to The Cannes Advertising Film Festival. Ok, I know that you thought that this was going to be about glamorous stars, but it's not. This is about how to gate-crash all of the fun parties. The advertising festival (yes you can still meet rich and famous directors - most do commercials just to tide them over between feature films)are normally in about a month or so after the film festival in June.

...any harm. I love Cannes all year around, but the best months are definately June and September-October. This way you avoid the crowds, you can find a spot on one of the two free beaches and enjoy the sunshine. If you like boat watching there are two great ports to cruise around, watch the deckies sweating in the sun. The old town of Cannes is especially beautiful at night, some wonderful restaurants and little shops to peruse. Truely a great town ...
