Advantages: great entertainment, free food and drinks Disadvantages: bit cheesy but enjoy it for what it is
Whilst on holiday it was my birthday and given there was a large party of us the inevitable question as to what we were going to do popped up. A few bright sparks suggested the Captain Hook cruise as it was apparently a bit cheesy and it would be right up my street, A few of the woman agreed with this as they had heard there was a Johnny Depp lookalike on one of the ships, masquerading as a pirate. We therefore found ourselves paying US$102 each ... ...Captain Hook cruise. A more accurate description would be the Captain Hook experience because your party is randomly assigned to one of two 17th century replica Spanish Galleons. You then sail off into the night and a couple of hours later the two ships meet up for a mock battle, leaving one of the captains victorious (the one who lost the previous day no doubt).
In between though is two hours of full on cheddar cheese entertainment that is so wooden ...

Advantages: The show is really funny Disadvantages: You are trapped there if you don't like it
BACKGROUND
On our first trip to Mexico we were looking at which excursions to book and the Captain Hook excursion sounded like a good option. The idea is you go out on one of two boats at night, watch a 'pirate show', the drinks are all inclusive and apparently flow freely all night, you can have either a lobster or steak dinner and then towards the end the two boats 'meet' in the water and the 'pirates' jump from ship to ship fighting. In theory ... ...the trip did not start off well in that we almost double booked ourselves. We had booked our dolphin swim for in the day at 1pm and the Captain Hook excursion was to pick us up from our hotel at 6pm if I remember rightly. We had thought this would be plenty of time given that the dolphin swim lasts around an hour. Unfortunately we did not account for transfer times and we had to wait around at the dolphin swim place for a few hours after our swim ...

Quick review of Capitan Hook and his Crew, Cancun, Mexico
just came back from cancun yesterday and spent the saturday night of our holiday (myself and my 17 year old daughter)on the captain hook trip. i have to say i'm quite hard to amuse!! but the captain hook trip was a scream from beginning to end. i've genuinly never laughed as much and my daughter felt the same. it was a great night out for all ages, little ones were kept amused by the younger pirates who took them on a treasure hunt whilst the captain and the other pirates entertained the adults. the games were cheesy but soooooo funny too!
i will definatly do this trip again and would recommend it to everyone. the food was delicious and drinks flowing. ...
