Advantages: Good accommodation, beautiful, tranquil surroundings, good range of facilities, land train Disadvantages: Cost, hilly, seemed very crowded even off-peak
==== CENTER PARCS - BENELUX OR UK? ====
We have been to three different Center Parcs in Belgium and the Netherlands, and it is now established as a regular half-term option for us and our three children. This year, Flemish half-term was a week earlier than the main UK one, and the prices reflected this. Faced with Euro620 for a midweek stay in Belgium, I checked the prices for the UK. Up till now, I'd imagined the prices in the UK prohibitive, although ... ...a result, mainly advertising specific Center Parcs activities or recommend to your friends. I did not check whether you can opt out of much of this, so I may have agreed to this inadvertently.
One of the many emails encouraged me to pre-plan the activities via the website. For the children, there seem to be a huge range of activities available, but there is no indication of charges for any of them. The website is full of suggestions though, and ...

Center Parcs - Longleat
Taking a young family on holiday is a tricky business with a completely different set of requirements than when going away as a couple. Not least among these is the amount of baby paraphernalia that you need to take. When our youngest was about ten months we took her to New England and managed to get everything into a couple of suitcases and carry on luggage plus a pushchair but now we have two the amount of extra baggage ... ...we thought we would give Center Parcs a go.
Center Parcs is a pretty big beast to try and review so although I will provide some background and booking options I will mainly be discussing our experiences and thoughts on dealing with the company and our time at the Longleat site.
Center Parcs ~
Center Parcs was founded in Holland 30 odd years ago and came to the UK in 1987 promising a new kind of holiday camp experience. There are now four sites ...

Advantages: Relaxing, scenic, plenty to do for adults and children alike Disadvantages: Activities are expensive, restaurants overrated
...12 month old son to Center Parcs, Longleat for a 3 day break. Center Parcs had been recommended to us by friends as an excellent holiday destination for families with children. They were right, it certainly is that. Everything about Center Parcs is geared up to appeal to the younger guest, although adults are certainly not neglected either!
Eating out at Center Parcs was quite expensive and, with the exception of the meal we had at Cafe Rouge, we ... ...noticed that! Center Parcs does have something for everyone, I am sure. The list of activities you can do is endless. You actually feel quite inspired to try out new things! Unfortunately, most of the activities have to be paid for and many of them are quite expensive! For example, I treated myself to the 'Spa Experience' at Aqua Sana, which was £35.
The swimming pool, however, is free of charge and it is fantastic! At first, it just looks like ...

Advantages: Food quality, park in general, choice of things to do Disadvantages: cyclists
Visited this Center Parcs with my boyfriend and had a fabulous time. Positives
Food - We found there is lots to do and such a wide choice of restaurants. We ate out most nights - there is an amazing curry place and also a Strada, Cafe Rouge and Tapas restaurant which were all reasonably priced and situated at different points around the site, which did really make it feel like you were going out for dinner every night
Pool - The pool complex was ... ...everyone - plenty of adults reliving their youth again!!
Accomodation - We booked a 3 bed comfort plus, which we found to be very spacious and loved seeing the deer etc on our patio every day
Drawbacks
Cyclists - beware of those people who really don't know how to steer a bike - there were a lot of them and we found ourselves nearly getting run over on a daily basis
The changing rooms in the pool area seemed to get dirty easily, probably due ...
