Center Parcs - Family Fun in the Forest!

Advantages: Great family holiday, perfect for kids, lovely natural setting, plenty to do
Disadvantages: Lodges can be shabby, you will wear yourself out with all the activity!

Center Parcs is a resort type holiday where the aim is to enjoy a family holiday in natural surroundings. Accommodation is in self catering units, although there are plenty of restaurants available. The holiday can be as relaxing or as active as each individual chooses. There are plenty of optional activities available for those that want to keep busy or expand their horizons. The basic cost of the holiday includes accommodation and you then pay ...
...This review covers the Center Parcs at Whinfell Forest in Cumbria. There are three other UK Center Parcs villages at Longleat Forest in Wiltshire, Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, and Elveden Forest in Suffolk, but I haven't visited those and cannot comment on them. We had never been to Center Parcs before writing this review and didn't know what to expect. However, there's an advert running on TV at the moment which shows a family falling asleep ...

Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest?

Advantages: Relaxed Environment, Plenty to do, Fab Accommodation
Disadvantages: Costly to eat out.

...diamond for my review on Center Parcs the Oasis Whinfell Forest back in September so I decided that when I went back last week that I would write up a review of my next visit…. Sherwood Forest. Last time I just went for the weekend which was the Friday to the Monday as cars are only permitted on both of these days. Advertised in Oasis was a Welcome Back Discount for up to 25% if you booked another trip within 28 days of returning. My boyfriend and ...

As Relaxing As Sleeping In A Beehive

Advantages: Lots and lots and lots to do to keep the kids entertained
Disadvantages: Most of it requires you spending all your time with the kids

...our front door to the Center Parcs site in Elveden where my wife assured me we would have a peaceful and relaxing break from the pub. To be fair, several of my friends and my bar staff have all travelled to the same destination and assured me that, once settled in, I could be anywhere in the world and would forget totally that I was just twenty minutes away from home. Certainly, Center Parcs Elveden - like all Center Parcs establishments - is set ...
...dread. In fairness, however, Center Parcs is a family fun-filled venue and I will grant my friends a little bit of leeway with their description that you could be holidaying anywhere. Once onsite, with the car safely tucked away back at the main car park, you really are housed amongst the trees and unless you wish to see the rather dull architecture of nearby Thetford there is no real need to venture offsite. Checking in is a breeze but you cannot ...

Centre Parcs: SHERWOOD FOREST: An Honest Review

Advantages: Location; Wildlife; Accomodation; Range of activities; Shops
Disadvantages: Quite expensive; accomodation could be a fair distance from main areas!

I have been to Centre Parcs (SHERWOOD) a few times, and thought I'd share my experiences with this review. The last time I visited Centre Parcs was with my partner in February of this year - the only time I have ever been during the Winter months, but as it is both of our birthday's around January/February time, my partner took me as a birthday treat, and I have to say it was probably the best birthday present ever. We stayed in an 'Executive Lodge', ...
...morning - Monday afternoon. == ARRIVAL == When you arrive at Centre Parcs in Sherwood Forest, you are told you will not be able to enter your accomodation until around 3pm. I was slightly put out by this, as we had arrived at 10am, and would have to leave our car within one of their carparks (you are not allowed to drive around the actual Parc - you are only allowed to drive to your accomodation to drop off your cases etc). However we had thought ...

...am a great fan of Center Parcs and I have been lucky enough to visit all four of the UK Villages several times, so I have a good knowledge of the facilties on offer at each and I can definatley tell you that they all have very different properties that may help you to decide which one to visit. ---CENTER PARCS IN GENERAL--- - Although every village has different features they do all share some of the same Center Parcs properties. ...holiday arised and she suggested center parcs as she is a regular there every year. I wasn't too sure but thought i'd give it a go. The one we booked was Longleat village as this is the closest one to where we live. I am writing this while it is still fresh in my memory as we only got back 3 days ago. Disadvantages: Poor Service, Expensive

...a 5 day break at Center Parcs Oasis Whinfell Forest in the Lake District. Until recently, when Center Parcs took over, the resort was known simply as Oasis and was run by an entirely different company. It's a place I've been visiting for the last 3 years, so I was interested to see how it might have changed under its new owners. About Center Parcs Oasis Whinfell Forest: CPOWF is set in 400 acres of pine forest on the edge of the lake district. ...
...it is because of the Center Parcs takeover. I have to say that on the whole staff are generally lackadaisical in their attitude, and barely smile. We reported a fault in our lodge on the first day and no one had come to fix it when we left. Previously when we have needed maintenance, they have arrived within 20 minutes. You can stand at bars for ages whilst staff chat amongst themselves or ignore you and polish glasses instead. Here I must single ...

A Centre Of Excellence

Advantages: Huge range of activities, good for families, excellent facilities for small children.
Disadvantages: Mediocre service especially in pool bar, mediocre level of cleanliness.

Center Parcs is regarded by most customers as one of the best family holiday places around, and certainly one of the more original (although it has been around in the UK for 20 years now, and was in Holland for many years before that)! The key element of the holiday village is that it is good for most ages and most types of people; the break can be as active or as peaceful as you like. There are three Center Parcs in the UK, at Sherwood in Nottinghamshire, ...
...there are many other attractions; Center Parcs is particularly good at offering a large range of sports, including clay-pigeon shooting, archery, horse-riding, sailing, caneoing, windsurfing, golf, tennis, short-tennis, teble tennis, badminton, snooker, ten-pin bowling, football, basketball and many others. It is good fun just to have a sociable knock about with friends and family but for most sports there are competitions if you are keen or just ...

...answer. Where we stayed... Center Parcs have three main types of accommodation. One bedroom apartments- aimed at couples, witha balcony or patio but no facilities for self-catering. Comfort Villas- normally 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms, all ensuite (bath with shower over), with kitchens (microwave, oven, hob, fridge), patio, TV, hi-fi open fire and central heating. Executive Villas- as above, but the ensuite have either a jacuzzi bath or a hydrobath. These ...

2 Women in a jacuzzi

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: Not a particularly relaxing choice

Last summer I enjoyed a weekend break at CenterParcs in Elveden Forest. This was a birthday suprise for my friend and I, (we share the same birthday), and our husbands' booked it as a present (the kids stayed at home!) CenterParcs is somewhere I have often thought about but never booked because of the price, it is quite expensive (it cost the boys £500.00), and I'm one of those people who would rather go abroad for the same money. Having said that ...

These Villas are also nearer to the main site. My friend and I spent the first 3 hours of our holiday bubbling away in the jacuzzi and managed to get through 3 bottles of Baileys! ...

Toddlers love Center Parcs (Sherwood Forest)

Disadvantages: expensive, lots of walking/cycling, things book up fast

...into a spa. Although Center Parcs do have babysitters available (£5.50 an hour) we prefer not to use them as our kids are so young, so we went separately. I know it may seem strange, but no one bats an eyelid if you are alone. You get provided with a bath robe to loll about with, and you will feel completely revitalised and ready to deal with kids when you get back. I recommend this holiday - very pricey in school holidays, but totally worth it out of season. We always prefer to go in the winter - march, november etc - ...

Rise of the phoenix-Center parcs Elvedon

Advantages: Location, Facilities, Ideal family holiday
Disadvantages: Can get very expensive

...in the fire of 2002 Center Parcs Elvedon has risen from the ashes, but is it bigger and better? Firstly for those of you who are unaware of what Center Parcs is. There are also villages in France Holland and Belgium. Elvedon is the village that we return to again and again having visited twice ...

A Really Great Time

Advantages: Facilities
Disadvantages: Prices!

I recently visited the Centre Parcs in Longleat...this is what it was like: The Area: Set in the heart of Longleat forest, you really can't complain about the scenery surrounding the chalets and leisure buildings. It's absolutly gorgeous. You feel so far away from bustling cities! I visited in mid-September when all the leaves were all still quite nice and green. Very pleasant indeed. The Accomodation: This was nice. You can get different standards...I ...
...I stayed in had all the essentials including a full kitchen, nice clean bathroom, radio, TV etc etc. The chalets are all positioned so you don't overlook anybody else's apartment so its all very secluded. You have a balcony which must be great in the summer for BBQ's. Above all, the accomodation was very clean. The Sports Facilities: What an amazing range of things to do! However long you, be it two days or five, you will never run out of things ...

Bye bye kids. See you later.

Advantages: Definitely a family location.
Disadvantages: Costs can mount up.

Mmmmmm... Center Parcs - Why did it take me so long to discover this most excellent of adventures? A family of friends, and my own family decided recently to share a holiday. Having experienced this before in a less-than-successful light (Caravaning in France) I was quite reluctant. None the less, I was persuaded by the reasonable prices (Only off-peak is reasonable!) and the suggestion of separate a Villa for each family. We visited their UK Longleat ...
...opinions of all four adults. The place is wonderful. PLUSSES: -------------------------------- The really DO cater for kids, and from what I could see, for disabled and elderly visitors too. Every restaurant and building has access for buggies and wheelchairs, and almost all of them have a small play-area for kids aged about 2+. The swimming pool is big, fun, child friendly, FREE, centrally located. Fun, fun, big... I loved it. I visited at least ...

We have no time to stand and stare…

Advantages: Tons of activities for all ages
Disadvantages: Popular activities get full instantly and costly

Center Parcs is made up of four woodland destinations. There is Longleat Forest, Elveden Forest, Sherwood Forest and Oasis Whinfell. When I say forest, I mean forest. It’s like having a holiday theme park in the middle of a giant secluded wood. The surroundings are just stunning. As I understand it Elveden has had a massive refurbishment after there was a fire there a few years ago and the Center Parcs company has only recently taken over Oasis ...

We plan to return to Longleat Forest this September for a five day stay. When you book a holiday with Center Parcs you can book anything from a long weekend break to 2 weeks, whatever you feel like. You can pay in gradual instalments to suit your budget, and a couple of weeks before your due to ...
