Quick review of Center Parcs

Whinfell Forest, 8 person villa. Wildlife was the best part of the holiday - lots of birds and red squirrel feeding from the patio table. The disappointments were; only 1 medium size fridge (we had 2 in our last visit to Sherwood); also the bath tap came off and bath plug mechanism broke. Worst was the abysmal lighting; yellowish energy saving bulbs made reading very difficult and took a full minute before the light reached acceptable level in the bathroom. Narrow roads have large boulders along the edges - NOT cycle friendly. Activities all very expensive and swimming pool much smaller than Sherwood. If you have a young family, don't want to cycle and don't want to read indoors then it's probably OK for you. ...

Half Term Trip to Les Bois Francs (France)

Advantages: Car Free Environment
Disadvantages: Crowded and Dirty

We booked a VIP Cottage on a lakeside location. A few weeks beforehand someone warned us that in order to take full advantages of the facilities we should ring straight away and book them. Even then we were only able to get a couple of games of Tennis (only 45 minutes each), a 10 minute session on a trampoline and a 15 minute session on the Quad Bikes. The VIP cottage turned out to be part of a prefabricated concrete terrace of bungalows. Inside ...
...freshener). Outside was some cracked plastic furniture. We asked to be moved and were shown a few more similar units that all had their own variety of smells. The lake was one of many man made muddy ponds, most of these prefab terraces were alongside these ponds. We did not use the swimming pool area at all. It was too crowded and it looked dirty. The main enclosed area resembled a very cheaply built airport terminal. The plants were dusty, the plastic ...

Fantastic holiday well worth the money!

Advantages: Everything you need for a family holiday on site!
Disadvantages: Expense

Fantastic resorts overall. Clean, well laid out, wide range of facilities to suit everyone. Surroundings are fantastic and there is lots of nature for the children to see. Ideal for families as there is everything there to make families life easy from baby changing facilities, well stocked shops and helpful staff. My tip would be take your own food as the lodges provide an excellent base and the restaurants can be expensive. The swimming facilities ...
...go around about tea time and they are much quieter! Outdoor childrens areas and certain facilities are free but others need to be booked in advance before you arrive - this can be done online so its very convenient. Some activities such as bowling can be booked when you are there - on the boards they advertise special offers - so check them out! ...

Center Parcs not just for kids

Advantages: Holiday heaven for the right price
Disadvantages: Can get very busy at certain times of the year

You might imagine that Center Parcs is just for families and screaming kids, but you would be wrong. Center Parcs holidays are immense fun for adults also. My wife and I go on holiday to Center Parcs once a year to wind down. The holiday usually proves to be absolute heaven, and we recommend CP to our friends. Go in the Winter period when it's cheaper. Visit the sub-tropical swimming paradise, with its jacuzzis, outdoor jungle rapids, cold plunge ...
...of accommodation. Then for a small extra play some badminton, table tennis, squash, tennis.. The list of outdoor activities is endless. Hire a bike for the week, and cycle round the forest. The villas and apartments all come with satellite TV so you can enjoy Sky Movies after having gone for a meal in one of the lovely restaurants - Italian, American, French. Check the prices - you'll be amazed! ...

antidote to stress

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

i have never experinced such a relaxing weekend.i recently visited centreparcs (elveden) for my second time.it is such a peaceful place, and great for activity's.The best part of it all has to be the subtropical paradise.it is a beautiful swimming area surrounded with palm trees and a bar in the centre of the pool. It is all inside a big dome at an amazing temperature of 29 degrees.the pool has a wave machine, wild water rapids which also lead outside.spa's ...
...visit including dry floatation, spa baths and tanning beds.At centre parcs i experinced one of the best sensations ever! after experincing a turkish bath i then plunged into a pool of freezing ice-cold water.I have never felt so refreshed.there are others sports to do such as tennis, badminton, bowling, horse-riding and golf but unfortunatly they are charged per session.so if anyone is feeling stressed out or tired i recommend centre parcs. ...

Whinfell - what a disaster

Advantages: Pool etc ok
Disadvantages: Noisy, dirty, road closures, building sites, arrival of the dreaded starbuks !

just got back today from a completely disasterous break at whinfell. our first two visits there i couldn't have faulted, but this time they put is bang in the middle of a building site (they are re-furbing some of the lodges, cement mixers, lorrys, vans, dumper trucks etc all hurtling past the front door, mud everywhere, hammering, knocking, drilling (you get the idea!). not a bit like the advert for peace and quiet. they also closed the road meaning ...

Great holiday for new parents...

Advantages: Excellant for families, plenty to do if you want to
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive but good value overall

If anyone is a new parent and is facing the dilemma of where to go on holiday I can recommend Centre Parcs. No it's not like a glorified holiday camp and there's not even a hint of hi-de-hi anywhere! It really is as relaxing as the brochure promises (even with a little one in tow). Personally I can't even ride a bike but hired a tricycle and baby went in his own little trailor on the back of his Dads bike. The babysitter we had was great so we went ...

Quick review of Center Parcs

Center Parcs - Sherwood Forrest

Advantages: Fabulous for families with children.
Disadvantages: Due to poor availability, you may not get a choice of where on the complex you are to stay.

...from a fabulous weekend at Center Parcs in Nottingham. This was our first visit for my husband and I along with our 3.5 year old little boy. We are generally not outdoor activity people, but we thoroughly enjoyed this break and even though we were caught in the rain several times, we would definately book again. I highly recommend hiring a Burley Trailer for children. It attaches onto the back of an adult bike and can carry two children up to the ...

Center Parcs Sherwood Forest Is In The Doghouse

Advantages: You can leave.
Disadvantages: Noisy, expensive, not dog friendly at all.

...warning to dog owners regarding Center Parcs Sherwood Forest. Last year we decided to choose Center Parcs for our holiday destination as we have a dog and the Sherwood Forest park was billed as extremely dog friendly. On arrival, we drove up to our lodge to unpack the car. The 'secluded' lodge was approximately 4 inches from the one next door, and the 'private' area at the back looked directly into the window of the lodge opposite. Although we ...
...and we could live with it. Once we were settled, we walked our dog to the designated exercise area so she could have some off-lead time as it had been a long car journey to get there and she would need a proper stretch and run. Considering the site is in the middle of a forest, you would expect a lovely spacious area for dogs to run, especially when a place is described as being dog friendly, yes? Imagine our horror when we discovered the 'off-lead' ...

better than a holiday in the sun!

Advantages: calm. peaceful, a perfect place to relax
Disadvantages: very dark at night- only disadvantage if you are used to light pollution

I went to center parcs in june. We visited the longleat one in wiltshire. After rave reviews about it from my auntie and countless times saying we would go, my mum, sister and I took the plunge and decided to spend four days there. What a brilliant four days. It has something for everyone! My mum is very into relaxtion and found it absolutely wonderful at their spa. A wide range of treatments and sauna rooms from all across the world. My sister is ...
...pool her sort of thing also with the odd water slide nearby so she could occasionally take a dip. I am more of a sporty type. There were numerous water activities including sailing and canoeing. There was also activity fitness trails and walks. It is also a lovely surrounding to take an early morning run. As you can see this holiday caters for all types of people, so there is little chance anyone will get bored. A fantastic italian restaurant was ...
