(On the subject of the price - I went into the internet after writing this and found that on Sunday 30 September the twin room would be 120GBP and there are specials for Saturday and Sunday nights so I can only deduce that my higher price was for the rugby weekend!) ...

Advantages: minutes from princes street and stockbridge Disadvantages: slightly small rooms
When my inlaws came to stay for christmas 2004, they stayed in Channings Hotel. Only minutes from the hustle and bustle of the west end of Princes Street, the hotel is on a quiet residential street. The location is also only a minute or two from Stockbridge, Edinburgh's bohemian chic "village in the city".
The two rooms weren't huge, but they were big enough to contain everything we needed. Big, sumptuous beds and bedding dominated the rooms and ... ...facilities included both a bath *and* a shower, and the complimentary toiletries were from Crabtree and Evelyn. The bath towels were massive, and extremely soft and fluffy.
There was a television in each room. while there was no minibar, each room was provided with a bottle each of still and sparkling mineral water free of charge.
