Crowne Jewel of Chester

Advantages: Great Location. Clean and well laid out rooms
Disadvantages: Car Parking, Exterior Aesthetics

...House, but The Crowne Plaza Chester (part of the Holiday Inn Group). Then to my dismay the website said the hotel didn't have any family rooms, so I decided to phone the hotel direct. Except I was put through to a central reservations team. I advised my requirements and said if they didn't have any family rooms did they have any connecting rooms. A very efficient, and friendly, girl took my details, put me on hold for a minute or so and came back ...
...off we set. arriving in Chester we followed the instructions supplied and arrived at the hotel without hitch (this was in the days before my shiney new TomTom as well). This is when my dissapointment hit. We arrived at 4.30pm on a Friday night (not a time I felt was particularly late) to be told that the car park was full and we'd have to park in the public NCP car park across the street, which we had to pay for (as it turns out you have to pay for ...

Chester Moat House/Crowne Plaza

Advantages: Excellent location, car park very near by, complementary use of lovely leisure facilities.
Disadvantages: Building not very attractive, must pay for car park.

...is plenty to do in Chester including river walks, great shopping, the Roman museum. The hotel is also next to the Gatehouse Theatre - we could literally see it from our room - so if youre looking for a theatre break than it is very convenient. It is also close to many restaurants and bars for a good night out. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and as vegetarians there was still plenty of choice. The parking was right next to the hotel (both the ...
...£7.50 for 24 hours they were reasonable. The building is not very attractive from the exterior, this is certainly not a country house hotel - there are no windows at all on one side of the building and the entrance is under a bridge. However, once you get inside, the decor is lovely and makes up for the outside. The hotel has recently had a name change from the Moat House to the Crowne Plaza due to the refurbishments which are ongoing unil May 2006. ...

Great long weekend away in a little luxury

Advantages: Very close to city centre, Close parking, Gorgeous Rooms
Disadvantages: Charge for Parking, little difficult to find on ring road

I chose this hotel due to a bargain on laterooms, and because it was very close to the city centre, with parking. I telephoned the staff before arrival and they were helpful and polite. Check in was easy with 3 desks, all manned. The room was very tastefully decorated, with little extras and plushness without being fussy which made you feel it was a special hotel. Mini fridges and safes in the rooms as standard (no fee). We ate our evening meal at ...
...service. Breakfast on both days was excellent - but I wouldn't have paid their full rate for it. The leisure facilities were excellent, very clean, and again attention to detail for example moisturiser, haridryers, free towels etc. The refurbishment finishes May 2006 and I would definately recommend it to anyone for a great base for a weekend away in beautiful Chester. ...
