My Continental flight itinerary offered aisle seating for both Atlantic crossings and for the return from Newark. I could live with one short flight (to Newark) in which I likely wouldn't need to disturb my seatmates. I also considered how full the plane was when I actually booked my flight. Based on past experience, I've learned that a full flight is more stressful and uncomfortable than one that is partially empty. Choosing a ...

...tour company and they used Continental Airlines, whom I had not flown with before. Most similar UK companies also used this airline for such destination. A quick search on the web showed why - it was the only major airline that flew to the necessary airports with only one stop over, as there were no direct flights.

Continental Airlines was founded in El Paso Texas in the 1930s, and has experienced mergers, take-overs and near bankruptcy to become one of the largest airlines in the world. It flies to more UK destinations that any other US airline making it a viable choice for those not wishing to trek to London to fly to the USA. I requested of my ...

...me onto a flight with Continental Airlines. OK the flight times were good, with a morning out from Gatwick and an evening departure from New Orleans, and the fare was reasonable, but that’s where the good bits end, and the black comedy that was my travel experience commenced.
Let me elucidate:

...partner and I flew with Continental Airlines in August of 2006 and I have to say we had a great experience using their airline.
As usual check-in was a bit slow, which is to be expected with most airlines, especially in the busy months. They check-in first and business first classes and then proceed to us economy folks, which didn't bother us in the slightest. It did take us marginally longer than usual due to the extra security there was that time ... ...The great thing about Continental is that when you check your bags at belfast they are checked all the way through to your destination, which saves a lot of time and hassle. All you are left to do at the connecting airport then is grab your bag and move it to the correct location for the next flight, no standing waiting in anymore queues.
As soon as we boarded the flight everything was Americanised, the money was in dollars and the staff were all ...

We flew Continental between Gatwick-Newark(NY)-Gatwick 2 weeks ago. Our experience can only be described as "Superb". We had a morning "outbound" flight, and an evening "inbound" flight. The check-in at Gatwick was fast and efficient, with friendly and helpful staff. I think they must be introducing a new "Self-Service" system, as there were plenty of staff around to direct you, and also to do preliminary checks on passports. We also were impressed as the cost of the flights were in the mid-range level which was also a pleasent surprise.
Please Note: I have edited this review, the plane was a 767 NOT a 757. ...

Advantages: Now fly from Stansted. Great Value, Good staff, Trouble free Disadvantages: None
...I chose to fly with continental to the shores of Virginia for two reasons, firstly the price and secondly the fact that they offer a service out of Stansted, Essex. The latter is a new service which began on 1st May, I flew out on 17th May and the whole trip was hastily arranged.

Two films were shown on overhead screens each set about 3 rows apart, not quite the same as another airline's in seat screens but ...

We set out at 7 in the morning to Gatwik in London for our 12 o'clock flight. After 2 hours of traveling by car we reached the Airport and waved goodbye to my dad. Advantages: Modern planes, confortable seats, great frequent flyer programme Disadvantages: Houston (their main hub) is awful
My wife had flown Continental for the first time last year on a trip to California to visit family. Her only complaint was that transiting through Houston was a nightmare, even though she only had handluggage. Advantages: Direct flight to where I wanted to go, good food Disadvantages: Plane seemed small, no on demand TV
I have flown with Continental three times, each time was the Manchester to Newark transatlantic flight. I have since heard that Continental have had some negative reviews, but with it being an American carrier I didn't really know a lot about them prior to booking so I had no pre-conceived expectations before the flight. Advantages: Cheerful stewardesses (well, if you didn't laugh, you'd cry) Disadvantages: Small, cramped, hot, uncomfortable, mediocre service
...my torturous outward-bound flight on Continental “Saunalines”, as I called them. This was akin to being strapped into a sardine tin for ten hours at a non-regulatory temperature of 100°C, having food and drink thrown at you at infrequent intervals by ancient stewardesses and being forced to view the in-flight air disaster movie. The alternative to the movie was having to speak to the rather stout child next to me, who was occupying half ... ...potatoes. Yummy.
Is Continental the only airline that has a minimum entry age of 90 for their stewardesses? Maybe this would explain their apparent lack of co-ordination when serving passengers. As my appetising lunch was flung at me with great velocity, the accompanying stale bread roll decided to leap off of the plastic tray onto the floor.
After playing football in the aisle, a stewardess whose face needed ironing handed me back this fur covered ...

...haul flight to america with continental airlines. I regreted every minute of it. Our flight on the way out was an extra hour on top as it was due to the time zones.
