...from my first visit in Cornwall and I thought I have to tell you about it. the journey: It took us just under 4 hours to get to Cornwall from the Midlands, which is quicker then what we've expected. The first (scary) thing you notice when getting further and further into Cornwall is, that the streets seem to get smaller and smaller. At times they are very, very narrow and the "banks" are so high, that the plants will scratch along your carwindow. ...

I know Cornwall, especially around the Tintagel area, very well. Tintagel for those who are not up to speed is connected with the legends of King Arthur and for me the place holds a certain mystique. There are plenty of Bed & Breakfasts, hotels, caravan sites and self-catering places in town and on the outskirts. There is a café at the bottom of the cliff near to the castle entrance where you can get tea and coffee and light snacks. Now you would expect me to say we went somewhere totally exotic and foreign but no, we went to Newquay on the South coast of England. Looe in Cornwall was our destination for our vacation. It was close by 2100 hrs, and we made our track down the lane towards the local beach, Millendreath. At first it seemed ok, not overly steep. I love Cornwall and it is an easy day trip for me living in Devon. There are quaint fishing villages as in Looe and Polpero, the magic of history in Tintagel when you can imagine King Arthur and his knights, Truro is excellant for shopping and has a wonderful cathedral, then of course there is surfing, especially on the north coast, for the more active, espcially around the Bude and Newquay areas. We went to Cornwall for a week in August a few years ago. We stayed in St. Ives in a two bedroom bungalow on a camp site surrounded by woodland and fields. My children loved it there.
