Advantages: Laid back lifestyle - friendly faces Disadvantages: Going back to the hussle/bussle once you know this place
I recently visited Cornwall for exactly 18 hours on a weekend where i dreaded staying in London a minute more than i had to.
I got on the train at Waterloo and headed for Penzance.
A five hours later through beautiful countryside, cliffs, lakes and valleys I arrived to see St Michael's Mount loytering in the middle of the ocean. I was captivated and fell in love at first sight.
The walk through the centre of Penzance was peaceful and rich in feeling ... ...feel - exactly what i needed compared to urban exploitation and pollution.
The sound of seagulls,(it wasn't as annoying as it sounds)and the fresh sea breeze cleaned the cobwebs of my mind, soul and body....
I stayed at an arts club in town which i thoroughly recommend to anybody going to Penzance - the staff were extremely welcoming and the views spectacular - my window looked directly out to the mount.
But wait there's more...........by night ...

Advantages: Beautiful scenery, plenty to do Disadvantages: Quite a way to travel from the rest of the UK
...biased - I live in Cornwall and it is the most wonderful place to live! Born and brought up in the Duchy, I can heartily recommend the county to any visitor. There are thre main points of entry, the A39 (Atlantic Highway) that takes the visitor close to the northern limits of the wild Bodmin Moor and skirts the coast close to the marvellous ports of Boscastle, Bude and Port Issac. Also, on this northern coast stands Tintagel - the legendary home ... ...of Plymouth with the Duchy.
Cornwall has one Cathedral City - Truro and the third naturally deepest port in the world - Falmouth (after San Fransico and Sydney). Tourism now is the major industry along with a shirking fishing industry and unfortunately there is no longer any tin industry - though an exploration of the many mine workings is well recommended. ...

Advantages: Beautiful beach and scenery Disadvantages: what to do if it rains!
Cornwall has got to be my favourite county in the UK. I love nothing more than laying on the beach and my husband is a water sports fanatic so it is the perfect place for us. He introduced me to place in north Cornwall called Polzeath. This really is a very beautiful village. The beach is actually a small bay and the sand is golden and when you stand in the sea, you can actually see your feet (which is quite a novelty these days!). There is a shop ... ...rate and it can be fun to watch some people on their boards! There is a bed and breakfast in the village that I can strongly recommend as well as a camp site. The local pub is called the Oyster Catcher and is a smashing pub. It's very friendly and can get a bit lively at night.
If you have had enough of the beach there are some lovely walks across the headland. You can walk for miles and miles just looking at the beautiful view.
If you enjoy a ...

...everything gets done `d`rectly` in Cornwall - sorry, being sarcastic here! - it means that Cornwall has probably the slowest pace of life in the U.K. and compared to most cities, you would find it very much on the `small` side. Advantages: Great beaches, good restaurants, good shops, things to do Disadvantages: Weather, caravans and campervans on the narrow roads
We stayed for two weeks about nine miles south of Padstow right by a lovely beach last September.
The weather was a little disappointing but the holiday was fantastic, we were two couples with two kids each, and there was loads to do, things to go and see, great beaches for when the weather was right. The old men got to go surfing (boards £10 in Tescos!) but get a wetsuit, it helps when you're going in, though once you're in you really don't notice!

Englands most southerly county (or if you're a native you would say the only unliberated country in Great Britain!) CORNWALL
It is a county that mainly survives on tourism and has many different types of accomodation form holiday cottages to hotels to B&B's to campsites.
The only drawback ... ...get abroad but most years we manage to have at least two hot days in May let alone the summer and come home with a tan!

Advantages: Brilliant opportunites for tourism, friendly, knowledgable staff, fair trading Disadvantages: can't think of any
There is now a reason to go to Cornwall!!!
You may not have heard of it, but on eof the Millenium projects may actually be a success.
It's a series of giant biodomes nestled in a redundant china clay pit and it's going to house a huge collection of plants giving a range of climates. For some reason local people have resisted this amazing opportunity for growth in tourism in the local area, but with perseverance the man runnning the show has managed ... ...In fact the project is so popular, they've had to open the Visitor Centre well in advance of the actual site opening. I mean, they haven't even got plants in yet, (to my knowledge) and they're still getting something like double the number of visitors they expected.

Advantages: incredible beach Disadvantages: mainly for beachers
Polzeath is in North Cornwall and is an incredible location. On the surface, it has the same sort of surfer atmosphere as places like Newquay. You will find one of the best beaches ever. It is wide, very long, and very flat. Therefore it's great for beach games and relaxing, and because it is flat the tide comes in quickly which is great news for surfers, coupled with the big, big waves (usually!). On either side of the beach are lovely rocky cliffs ... ...also some great rockpools, some very big and deep ones, almost small lakes. You can find tons of crabs, tons of fish, and even jellyfish and many other treats. Great fun. It's nearly always hot and lovely there, even if the rest of Britain is horrible. Standard attire is shorts. Full stop. Everyone walks around barefoot. Many topless women and beautiful topped ladies too. It's not all beach though. It's a lovely place too, with friendly locals. It ...

Advantages: Plenty to do, or not to do Disadvantages: Hilly
St Agnes is a special place that has great charm and appeal to all ages. It is a small (ex-tin mining) town on the north coast of Cornwall, about 12 miles south of Newquay and 9 miles from Truro.

Advantages: Great beaches, good surf, fun nightlife Disadvantages: Surfers can be a bit unfriendly
...in Devon, I find North Cornwall the perfect destination for a break, be it a couple of nights or a couple of weeks. My favourite spot is Polzeath, between Padstow and Newquay. The beach is huge and sandy, perfect for familys or beach footballers. The surf is reasonable but rarely big, and one downside is how crowded the line-up gets. Beware, surfers hate kids and parents on boogy boards getting in their way, so watch out!
On the seafront there are ... ...a Spar, and a cafe. I'd also recommend the fabulous pasty shop. Parking is on the beach or up the road on the clifftop, and reasonably priced. Just around the corner from Polzeath is Grenaway, a much quieter pebble shore with great rockpools. Accomodation is plentiful, with surrounding campsites, holiday cottages and B&Bs. Nightlife is pretty chilled out, mostly a surfer-type crowd at the Oystercatcher pub. For a big night out try Newquay, about ...

...about my favourite place in Cornwall now.
My mum said we shouldn't tell anybody about this place because otherwise lots of tourists will come and we won't be able to play on the beach all day.
But I don't mind a few more dogs to play with and I'm so in love with this place that I just have to tell you.

Before Perranporth you'll see a sign called Cubert and you have to drive right into this street. That's where I normally wake up from my nap and start wagging my tail.

Advantages: Friendly, quaint, good shops and food, fishing trips, feels like abroad Disadvantages: Need a car to drive to the village as public transport in Cornwall is not great!
Looe in Cornwall is a quaint little village with lots to offer. I discovered it back in 2008 and couldn’t wait to visit it again this year while holidaying in Cornwall.
It is about 40 mins away from Newquay and you could be forgiven for thinking you was abroad when you arrive there. The whole place is built around a locke which goes out to the sea.
There are plenty of cosey, back-street resturants offering fresh fish caught the same day it is served.

Well worth visiting is Flambards Theme Park. Their recreation of a Victorian village is very interesting, and enjoyable to look through. There are also rides for all ages, and clean, tidy food outlets. The Seal Sanctuary was also an amazing experience.
