Advantages: Great village, well placed as a base for exploring Disadvantages: The dreaded A30
We are regular visitors to Cornwall as my husband has family connections. He has been going every year for nearly 43 years.(It must have something going for it ,right?)We stay at St Agnes, on the North Cornish Coast.More rugged and exposed than the sheltered South Coast, but still near enough for visits to calmer waters if you fancy a change.
St Agnes is a thriving village with a strong sense of community,it feels like a real place, not a Cornish ... ...are welcome to attend. The carnival ,with floats from local businesses, is fun to watch.Local celebrity ,Giant Bolster makes a guest appearence, and is a great favourite with the kids.
The Lifeboat station at Trevaunance cove is another center of activity.Since the charity is always in need, they arrange sandcastle competitions, gig races and bar b qs to attract much needed funds.
St Agnes has 2 great beaches both of which are manned by lifeguards ...

Advantages: No need to fly lots to see in a small area Disadvantages: the English weather
Cornwall is a very special county in England. At Land's End you can be blown by the winds straight off the Atlantic Ocean. Walk across the causeway at low water to the island of St Michael's Mount where you can climb the ancient, cobbled path to the medieval castle, and enjoy magnificent views across the bay to Penzance.
The beautiful Minack Theatre built into the rocks at the edge of a cliff entirely by one woman, Rowena Cade from 1931 until she ... ...a visit. The Eden project looks like a series of giant igloos in the middle of a valley but once close up and inside a world of plants, weird statues and an eco system is waiting to be explored. It can be quite hot inside some of the displays so be prepared escpecially if you go with children or elderly people.
In Mevagissey at Mr Bistro we enjoyed a fantastic seafood meal in truly gorgeous surroundings right by the little fishing port. The meal ...

Advantages: Spingo, sunshine in the summer Disadvantages: Small town, no large nightclubs
...The first time I visited Cornwall it was during the solar eclipse of 1999, but on a subsequent visit, staying in the small market town of Helston near the Lizard Peninsular, I discovered the Blue anchor. I visited the "Blue" as it was known that day, with a group of friends, the thing that makes the Blue different for all other pubs is the drinks it sells. The most commonly drink in the blue is Spingo, this is a beer it brews its self to be anything ... ...or larger drinker, but Spingo is very drinkable, as you may have guessed by the alcohol content, a several pints of spingo at around £1.60 a pint and we all tottered off down to the park to chill in the cornwell sunshine. The blue is a small friendly pub, which would be just as nice in the winter due to the cosy interior and the possibility of a wood fire burning in one of the many grates. If you are ever in Helston, I strongly reccoment a couple ...

Advantages: The beauty of the mediterranean without leaving England Disadvantages: It is perilous to attempt B roads with a caravan or at night
I first went to Cornwall two years ago and stayed in Newquay. It was nice but not really my kind of thing - too many surfer dudes and teenagers! However the other half is a bit of a surfer dude so we went again this year on the provision that we could visit other areas in Cornwall . . . I was absolutely gobsmacked - at times the when driving around the coast you cannot believe you are in England - I could have been in the mediterramean - or even ... ...sand.
We stayed at the Quies Hotel in Newquay which has to be the most pleasant hotel I have stayed in. The owners were very accomodating - and even posted me my mobile phone which I had forgotten ( I blame being distracted by the cream teas for this)
We went through Dartmoor which was also stunning - I have lived in England all my life and was not aware that such places existed. Newquay actually turned out an ideal place to stay as it was not ...

Advantages: Should be beautiful. Disadvantages: Tacky and expensive.
We have visited Lands End once and I am sure that will be our one and only visit to this place. We expected to find a place of natural beauty where we could enjoy the views from the cliffs and the sensation of being at the edge of our country. What we found was amusement arcades, tacky shops and expensive cafes. Any natural beauty of this site is distracted by the greed of the businesses situated here. You even have to pay £3 to park your car on ... ...expect this type of format at the more popular seaside resorts and there we can all enjoy the noise of slot machines and the smell of hot dogs, but Lands End surely is something special, not just another opportunity to make money. If you want to see how this site should be, then go to John O'Groats. The Scottish people know how to preserve a site of natural beauty. The people running Lands End have a lot to learn. ...

Advantages: The water sports, beach and sea. Disadvantages: The house was not up to standard
Cornwall is an extremley fun, exciting and hot place to go. near a beach and just like somewhere abroad.i stayed in between Rock and Polzeath. Rock is brilliant for watersports like water skiing, banana boating and wakeboarding, and if you want to go ringoing you have to have your own boat and rings.Polzeath is a wonderful place for sunbathing, surfing, relaxing on the beach and eating lots of ice_creams especially toffee-choc-fudge-ripple. The house ... ...and it was in a quiet area. It had a swing and a proper barbeque and I think they are getting a pool in it. The mariners and Oyster Catcher are great pubs which my brother and sisters go down to vertually everynight and have great fun.I recommend it for famillies especially the young. ...

Advantages: scenic Disadvantages: bit of a drag getting there
...The point is they thought Cornwall was fantastic. They never booked up much in advance if at all and swore by the service and delights of the county's bed and breakfast places. I could not agree more on the delights of Cornwall (Tintagel is one of my favourites-there's was Perranporth)By coming back often they frequently paid return visits to B&Bs and had become firm friends in some places.
Now I like travel. But, the same place two or three times ...

Advantages: Beautiful bar on the beach - kids are welcome as are animals Disadvantages: Winding roads to get to it. Have to pay parking
Blue bar is a lovely bar on the beach. They serve lovely food and a wide range of drinks from coffee to cocktails. At weekends they have live music and through out the summer they are host to many events including surf event's as Porthtowan beach is annually host to the surfers against sewage surf contest.
There is plenty of outdoor seating so perfect if you want a beer whilst watching over the children playing on the beach.
There is a car park ... ...but is worth it as the bar and the beach are lovely and friendly.
To get there head towards Truro then towards Redruth where you will come to a roundabout that is signposted towards St Agnes and Porthtowan then just follow the signs and the lovely scenic Cornish winding roads.
