...and stayed in the hotel Cortijo Blanco. It was a hotel we had seen on TV Travel Shop, as it was one of their top 10 holiday destinations.
LOCATION
The hotel is situated in the small spanish village of san pedro de alacantara, which as said by the holiday rep is "untouched by tourism, other than the McDnalds!". The village is around a 15 minute walk from the hotel, however within only a 5 minute walking distance, within sort of a mini village there ... ...little supermarket. In the village there are shops and bars and it has to be said that some of the tapas bars there are amongst the best I have been in, and well worth a try. The village and area is very remote with not much else about but all the essentials are on site.
THE ROOMS
The rooms are in several blocks and are of a generous size. The decor is appropriate though not fancy and generally the rooms are clean and comfortable. Rooms are not ...

Advantages: Beautiful gardens, great staff, fresh food Disadvantages: views from some rooms onto roads

The room : Have to say it was very basic but exactly what you are looking for when you'll spend your days at the ...

Advantages: Absolutely stunning hotel and area Disadvantages: It's a bit tricky getting in and out of the hotel after midnight
It is utterly beautiful, half of the hotel is the original hotel building and the other half further back is much more modern. We stayed in the more modern section of the hotel.
The bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom was lovely, there was a shower over the bath, and the bath itself was very big and deep. The room was very clean and pretty and we had our own little balcony with a couple of chairs on it.
As we stayed on a half board basis breakfast ... ...it had a classy but relaxed atmosphere and the food was served as a buffet. There was quite a lot of options, but vegetarian options were a bit basic. I would definately reccomend this hotel as it is stunning and ideal for exploring the area. I definately reccomend renting a car however, as otherwise getting around could be tricky. ...
