    Cosmos - Cosmopolitan Europe For my honeymoon my husband and I decided to do a tour of Europe. I didn't want to fly as I had a very bad experience on my GAP year after a flight and wanted to be relaxed at all times on our honeymoon. After long hours searching on the internet we decided to book a Cosmos Tour called Cosmopolitan Europe. It lasted 14 nights and 15 days and would start in London and end there too.     After reading various ops on tour operators and their terrible service I felt I had to put fingers to keyboard and tell you all about my experience with Cosmos in Gran Canaria. To be honest, tour operators seem to have quite a bad reputation in general but I am pleased to say that I was pleasantly surprised by Cosmos. We arrived at Las Palmas airport and were met by the first Rep who directed us to our bus and welcomed us to the island.     We wanted a special holiday this year, as it was our first wedding anniversary! I took a big loan out and we allocated a large portion of the money for a hoiday of a lifetime! Niether my wife or I had travelled abroad before. so we were careful to point out to the travel agent we were complete amateurs and we wanted a holiday that would account for this! The travel agent was very helpful and suggested we went for an all inclusive at a popular resort! In the end we opted for a resort in Majorca!     I have to say, that of all the tour operators I’ve ever used (and there have been a few), Cosmos is definitely the best. Their service is second to none, and I now go out of my way to try and book my holidays with them. When we booked our holiday to Tunisia last year, we found a “palatial” 4 star hotel in the Cosmos brochure for less than half the price that Airtours were offering (we booked out of the brochure, not last minute).     In my opinion Cosmos Reps are the most unhelpful of all holiday companies. For example:- Last year on holiday to Tenerife, we were supposed to get picked up at 5.00pm from our hotel to take us to the airport. At 4.30pm we moved our baggage to the main exit at the front of the hotel and waited it came to 5.10pm and no sign of the bus or the rep. then it came to 5.30pm there was still no sign. We phoned the emergency reps number on the Island and the man said he would sort it out. At 6.00pm the rep phoned the hotel and I took the call. he said that the bus had been at the hotel at 5.00pm to pick ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages You never know quite what is included and what is not. Many hidden extras have to be paid for.

    On a recent holiday to Egypt, I was disappointed to find that most of the items that were stipulated to be part of the All-Inclusive deal were not in fact even available. Furthermore Cosmos kindly sent us to a hotel resort totally catered for Italians, this includes entertainment, staff, books, events etc WITHOUT informing us before our departure. To add to this they also supplied us with a German speaking rep who had no grasp of the English language and therefore we were unable to take advantage of many of the All-Inclusive offers.     We booked with Cosmos when we did our 4th visit to Egypt,and I have to say it was the best visit we had.Price wise there wasnt a great deal of difference to any other visit[about £580 per person]but there was much more for our money as far as tours were concerned.We like to do a week on the Nile and a week in Luxor and all packages usually include 10 guided tours whilst on the cruise,but Cosmos went that little bit extra .Anormal part of a cruise is a felluca sail in Aswan round Kitcheners Island and a visit to the High Dam,but this time we were taken onto the island to spend time in the ... more

    Booked with these clowns last year and went to Fuerteventura. On our last day the awful rep in panic, told all customers that they will be picked up and taken to a hotel near the airport a day early. This was due to a potential bus strike. We spent a night in a vile hotel, with no food or drink, even though we had paid for all inclusive. We waited in the airport for an entire day for our flight and missed our last day. The Cosmos rep told us we had to go along with this idiotic plan or we might not be able to take the flight home and they would wash their hands of us. So we were forced to ... more

    Advantages Advantages None--totally useless.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Curt, only interested in selling trips. Totally uninterested in customers.

    Our Cosmos Rep in The Gambia was the most useless I've ever met. Introduction Meeting? He didn't hold one--bit swore to us he did--err, I was there--you were just selling a trip to group of guys! Polite manner? He didn't have one. Ability to give information? Did he know anything? Didn't seem to. Our room had only cold water in a basin, no working shower and broken fittings, we wanted to change rooms. His solution? I can take you to another hotel--you pay me the brochure price difference.     I recently travelled with cosmos to Falaraki in Rhodes and was some what disapointed. We booked for a young and lively resort and went with cosmos because of the deal they had. Due to the fact my parner is 6ft5 we were advised when booking to get to the airport early to be given seats with extra legroom. When we arived at the airport they told us we could only get them if we paid extra £15 per person each way which we could not afford to do, so wasted our time rushing to get to the airport.
