Advantages: Pretty village, great Mountain food at reassonable prices, very Italian Disadvantages: little for beginners or advanced skiiers, few English children in Ski school
...Chamonix or down to Courmayeur (actually, to Dolonne, accross the river from Courmayeur and a free shuttle bus drive away). Gigante and Internazionale are lovely long steep and wide red pistes that I highly recommend.
There are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants all over the area and they serve really good food at very reasonble prices - 1.2 Euros for a cappucino, 6-8 Euros for a pizza, 1.3 Euros for a half litre of water. Mulled wine/gluwein is ... ...area and very different to Courmayeur (higher, wider, easier, fnatastic panoramic views).
The Ski pass also lets you ski a day in Chamonix (France) and in Pila (Italy - 40 minutes away) - unknown outside Italy, but a fantastic little place to go nevertheless.
For non-ski days, pretty Aosta and Chamonix are less than an hour away, Turin, a little further. There's also a sports centre with an ice rink and wall climbing and for a fee, you can use ...

Advantages: Great food and good nightlife Disadvantages: Inconvenient skiing
...partner and I were in Courmayeur a few years ago for a weeks skiing in March. We stayed in the Hotel Berthod, a nice 2 star b & b. It's a family run place that's been owned by the same people for over a hundred years. The rooms are traditional with huge baths - always a big bonus when you're skiing. The village has plenty of lively pubs, such as Bar Roma (good apres ski) and The American Bar. Everywhere we ate was excellent and inexpensive. Pierre ... ...to find you shouldn't miss out on it. The skiing is a bit inconvenient as you have to reach the mountain via a cable car, then plooch through slush to the chair lifts. There are hire shops and lockers up there though, a much better option than lugging your skis up and down everyday. When we were there you couldn't ski back to the village, but I've seen rumours on the net that this has been remedied. The skiing was ok, I'd only done 3 weeks skiing ...
