Crowne Plaza (Birmingham)

...I have stayed in Crowne Plaza hotels around the globe and this is nothing more than a 2-star hotel with a Crowne Plaza board on the roof. This hotel is badly in need of updating and a price review!! When you compare the cost to other nearby hotels, you get a lot more for your money (nice exec suite!) at hotels only a stone's throw away. The first one is the Crown Plaza in the City Centre which is the one mentioned in the other review. ...mistake. I wanted the one by the NEC because of the Free transfers to the airport. On arrival the staff were very helpful in sorting out cancelling the reservation at the other hotel and getting us a room at their hotel. We even had a free upgrade and I dont know why! On arrival and discovery of the mix up we steeled ourselves for a fight (mainly with the travel agent to try and get them to sort out the mess they had created - not for the first time!) However it was completely unneccesary. The hotel staff were fantastic and arranged a transfer with the other hotel and booked us into two beautiful suites.
