...between the Marriott and the Crowne Plaza. We chose the Crowne Plaze because last time we stayed at the Marriott it was very busy and we didn't fancy a hectic weekend.
We got a good deal for the 3 night stay - £159 for a room, bed and breakfast with dinner on the first night for the first two nights, and £69.50 b&b for the third night. Just about the same price as the Marriott but with dinner thrown in.
The hotel is not much to look at from the ... ...age just a little. The reception, lobby and central stairway to a first floor lounge, however, are quite welcoming and spectacular - makes you feel that the hotel is a bit special.
Our room which was just a standard on the fourth floor was good, roomy with a king size bed - not much to look at out of the windows just the Yorkshire Post building and passing motorway.

...the normal rate for a Crowne Plaza, but the teletext offer is more than reasonable), and we arrived on the Friday afternoon ready to enjoy ourselves.
We checked in, had a coffee from the stock in the room, and went down to the leisure suite for a swim, sauna and jacuzzi...really relaxing!
Then we did it all again!
After that we went up to the bar and had a lovely capuccino and people watched.Interesting! After a hectic night out in the nearby ... ...(again) and breakfasted. SUPER food and wonderfully presented..makes you want to try everything. And after an afternoon shopping for England, we made the most of the satellite television and bathroom facilities, getting ready to hit the city again. When we went home on the Sunday afternoon, we felt as though we'd been away for a week to somewhere a long way from the families. It was very relaxing and I'll be doing it again!

...get good discount on the Crowne Plaza. When we arrived, late at night and tired, the staff were friendly and helpful. We made our way to our room and it was above standard, providing everything we needed and was clean. Due to the fact we arrived late we orded a pizza for delivery to the hotel - the staff were fine with this. The breakfast was lovely and again staff were very accomadating when my boyfriend asked for his eggs to be done a different ... ...which may have worked out for the best as there were a few Christmas work parties being held in the hotel. The sauna,swimming pool and steam room were lovely, and were included in the price. The steam room was particulary nice as it had ambient lights and music.
Going back to the cons - the mini bar - be careful, everytime you take something out of the bar - just to look at and put it back - you will be charged! Something to do with a kind of electronic ...
