(don't get crowded to) Death on the Nile - MS Kasr Ibrim

Advantages: Not crowded, still pretty exclusive, do it now before everyone gets there
Disadvantages: Quiet, not much nightlife, limited shopping, not everyone's cup of tea, very very hot

...new trip for Egypt, a cruise on Lake Nasser (above the Aswan High Dam) towards the Egyptian/Sudanese border. This is a very different prospect indeed. There are only 6 ships working this 250km-long lake and in fact I only saw one other ship in the four days we were on the trip. Meals are buffet style, but the food is plentiful and worth queueing for. Between stops at temples the scenery is the lake and mountains rather than the villages and farms of the Nile: just enjoy the peace and the sound of the water. Excellent guide and tours. The approach to Abu Simbel is spectacular and the Sound and Light one of the best I've seen. Highly recommended. ...
