Cusworth Hall, South Yorkshire

Advantages: Free to visit, good display of exhibits
Disadvantages: Car park charges, no original items in the house

Cusworth Hall is an example of a fine English country mansion house, located a couple of miles to the north of Doncaster town centre in South Yorkshire. If you drive out of Doncaster town centre over the Great North Road Bridge and find yourself stuck in traffic (the road works around here have been ongoing for decades) then have a glance to your left and you will have a wonderful view of Cusworth Hall in the distance. ...are almost upon it. Cusworth Hall sits on the top of a small grassy hill. A large green, landscaped park with scattered woods surrounds it and when it was built in the 18th century the views from here would have been wonderful. Today, the views are mainly of Doncaster, but don't let that put you off, it is still a fantastic view nonetheless. There are also a series of lovely lakes and fishing ponds within the grounds, but these are a more recent ...

Cusworth Hall, Doncaster.... a trip down Memory Lane

Advantages: Good day out
Disadvantages: None

...unaware of until my visit), Cusworth Hall has undergone a major refurbishment and it looks magnificent. It actually re-opened to the public again back in 2007. The tea room is open daily from 10 am to 4pm. For those who are not really interested ...
...==Little Bit of Background== Cusworth Hall is an 18th century country house set in beautiful landscaped parklands, once home to the Battie-Wrightson family (my late grandma owned a tea service which once belonged to the Battie-Wrightson's - it's still in the family). Cusworth Hall is home to some lovely history collections, illustrating how people lived, worked and entertained themselves over the last two hundred years. It really is a lovely and ...

...Items such as fashion through the decades, toys, medical, nursery, kitchen are to name a few. It is a great educational trip for young students!!! There is a car park, which is a small fee and more importantly it has wheelchair access. There is also a small cafe, which offers cream cakes and tea.
