Pop Half Century

Advantages: It's a Disney hotel
Disadvantages: Has the longest bus queue at the parks

...hotel itself is one of Disney's newest hotels, and is the newest in the value range. It consists of a main building housing the reception area and the dining/shopping area, and 10 buildings housing the rooms, these buildings are in the shape of a 'T' and are on 4 floors. There are lifts available to get to the top floors, which is very welcome after a long day in the parks when you can't be bothered to walk any further! There are 3 buildings for ...
...and Lady and the Tramp, with giant figures at the entrances. It has its own pool in the shape of a bowling pin, and the entire pool area is very much bowling themed. We stayed in the 'Tramp' building, with a view of the pool. Apparently it is possible to see the Epcot fireworks from the top floor of the Jukebox building. There are 2 buildings for the sixties section, this is right in front of the main building and is considered 'preferred' (i.e. ...

I Miss Pop

Advantages: Location, price, staff helpfulness and friendliness
Disadvantages: Food court

Though I'd been to Orlando four times before (staying on International Drive each time - last visit 2000) this was my fiance's first visit to both Orlando and America. We stayed at Pop Century in January 2007 for two weeks. Upon arrival we headed straight for check in. There was no-one else in the check in queue so everything was sorted within 5 minutes. The staff were both helpful and friendly. I had arranged for a gift basket to be delivered to ...
...staff brought it straight out and made as big fuss on discovering we were celebrating an anniversary during our stay. We were allocated a room in the 50's section of the hotel. Though our room was one of the furthest away from the main building in the hotel, this did not affect the enjoyment of our holiday in any way. The walk was no more than 3 minutes from our room to the food court, pools and shops. The room itself was fairly simple but gave ...

Pop Century I Fantastic

Advantages: EVERYTHING
Disadvantages: none that i know of

Disney's Pop Century Resort. We recently visit Pop Century in march 07. Our second time in Florida, last time staying on I- drive. The disney hotels offer more than any other hotel in Orlando. Upon entrance to a very large que to check in, it was quickly gone and you are given your "Key to the world" Your disney passes and room keys. A great idea unless you decide to lose them. First views of the hotel is a lot to take in surrounded by bright colours ...
...It is very confusing finding your room, out of the 2880 rooms (making it one of the largest hotels in the U.S.A, you would understand the problem. The rooms are a resonable size and have everything you need to survive, your holiday in Florida. If like most people your there to do the theme parks and shopping, you don't really need to worry about the room size and whats in it, as you will get back, sleep, wake up, wash, then go again. Though the ...

Disney's Pop Century Resort, Florida

Advantages: Great for kids, close to amenities, safe
Disadvantages: Don't go if you dislike kids!!!!

We have been visiting Orlando, Florida for many years now but have only recently discovered the Disney Pop Century resort. Located about 25 minutes from Orlando Airport, the first thing we noticed about the resort was the colourful entrance. There is a security guard at the gate and it is manned for 24 hours so immediately, we felt safe. The are two types of room available, standard and preferred, the main difference being that you are situated ...
...a preferred room. All rooms contained two double beds and were more than adequate for two adults and two young children. There is an ensuite bathroom and everything was very clean. Some rooms overlook the lake which you should bear in mind if you want a quieter stay because the pool areas are open until 12.00 midnight and can get noisy. We were overlooking the pool but were swiftly moved when we requested it. The pools are large, colourful and ...

WDW accomodation at a reasonable price.

Advantages: Location, theming, facilities.
Disadvantages: No full-service restaurant, relatively small rooms.

Disney's 'Pop Century' Resort is aimed at those who wish to stay on-site at Walt Disney World (Florida) without having to blow the budget. It is Disney's newest "value" resort and was opened in 2004. I stayed at the resort with my wife for two weeks in the summer of 2007, having previously stayed twice before at Disney's All-Star Movies complex. (Take a look at my 'All-Star Movies' review to read about Disney's original "value" resort.) Like all ...
...built around 'Hour Glass Lake' and draws its inspiration from the popular culture of the 1950s to the 1990s. Specific areas in the resort are themed to reflect specific decades; through the music, dances and products that were popular at that time. Whilst it does not have a full-service restaurant, the resort does have a well stocked "counter service" dining area, which offers a wide variety of hot and cold foods. The resort also has an arcade, gift ...

Disney pop century - want to go now!!!!

Advantages: Very affordable, all you need
Disadvantages: No night time entertainment

In the past our family have stayed at disney on a number of occasions and thought for a change we would stay at the new pop century disney resort. Located at the disney resort in Florida USA, this resort is very central for all disney parks and attractions We found this hotel great, you really felt you were in the heart of all the disney fun the rooms were colourful, spacious and child friendly The staff were very friendly and coureous and always ...
...was completed in 2004 and is one of the newest disney "affordable" hotels. Expanding 4 floors and a massive 5760 rooms the buildings are each separately themed on different decades of the last century. What this basically means there are different buildings ie 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. Each theme has larger than life icons including a massive rubiks cube (1980's) and playdoh. Different themes also include pop dance crazes like the ...
