4 Stars Dubai Or Not To Buy? Review with images 11/04/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Great weather and food, beaches, malls

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not always super easy to find a restaurant in some parts of town

With our mother out of the country, and our "family Christmas" reduced to me and Big Sis, we decided to do the sensible thing, shun the UK, and head off for some sun at the end of last year. Sure, we might miss the White Christmas people were talking about, but I had faith in Chris Moyles when he said It's Never Gonna Snow At Christmas. And maybe, if I was lucky, any snow that did come would hold off until we were back in January, so we could enjoy it then... Even before their financial situation kicked off, there were some great deals to be had in the United Arab Emirates and for less money ... more

Advantages Advantages A Bustling Nightlife, Very cheap Shopping with a huge array of different popular retail stores, Beautiful Hotels, Beautiful Beaches, Pleasant weather between October and April, Brilliant service in restaurants across the board, Lots to do

Disadvantages Disadvantages Alcohol is generally quite expensive, Ramadan (holy month of ramadan means that you must not eat or drink in public during the day)

    * Initial Note * Dubai is an absoloutley gorgeous city, rich with culture and history, complemented with the huge modern shopping malls and brilliant service that Asia is famous for. As a lot of people that I have been in correspondance with over the months whilst at CIAO, will know, I spend a lot of time in Dubai. Although getting hot now (Being April), Dubai is definately worth a visit! I would recommend it over any other destination, as I will now explain. Dubai has a wealth of different things to do. It has a bustling night life, a wide array of tours in to the desert (desert safaris) ... more

4 Stars A quick gallop round Dubai Review with images 28/02/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Gives you a good idea of what is in the city

Disadvantages Disadvantages You have to go at a pace and you do have the feeling of being rushed

The cost of this tour was AED 250 or about 42 pounds per adult from Ras Al Khaimah and AED 180 or 30 pounds per adult from Dubai. We had the luxury of an extra 3 to 4 hours travelling in the bus for our extra money. The trip is advertised as including: pick up from your hotel, Air conditioned coach, English speaking guide, and mineral water and entrance fees. We were informed by our representative when we decided to go on the tour that we would have an hour for lunch at the Souk Medinat, Jumeirah and then have from 3 o’ clock at the Dubai Mall where we hoped to meet up with a friend and use ... more

5 Stars From Dubai With Love Review with images 25/03/2001

Advantages Advantages Dubai is a safe place with very good quality of life. There is universal brotherhood everywhere.

Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me, but the hot weather for tourists who are not used to this.

I had written the original review on 25th March, 2001 and updated the same as below: First update marked * * Second Update marked ** ** Third Update marked *** *** on 31st May 2006 Kindly read below. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was Friday, the 24th January 1975, when I first landed at Dubai International Airport by Kuwait Airways. The airport looked small with sand stretching on the sides. I had left my motherland for the first time and I felt a twinge in my heart for leaving my dear ones back at home. There was a sandstorm while ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice Weather, beaches, food, destinations, shopping!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be too hot if you go between June-August!

I've been to Dubai twice now, once when I was one, too young to remember anything, and again three years ago. All I got to say is WOW! I didn't know what to expect when we decided to visit family in Dubai, I had no idea what is was going to be like, but assumed for some reason it was going to be similiar to India. ~~The Journey~~ We flew with Emirates, and the jounrny took about six hours from London Heathrow Airport. I was really looking forward to it. We arrived at Dubai Airport and my excitement grew....we got off the plane and made our way down to arrivals to meet our family. ~~The ... more

Advantages Advantages Clean, safe, sophisticated, very friendly, modern, shopping! Offers the best of East and West

Disadvantages Disadvantages None (At present I really cant think of any..just hope too much tourism doesn’t kill the place in 10 years time!)

Imagine gazing at clear blue skies, walking along clean, golden sandy beaches whilst soaking up the sun and admiring the clear blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. A place where you can also shop till you drop with bargains in the bazaars and souks. Then, at dusk watch the sun go down in an oasis where you taste buds are awakened with the aroma of the finest kebabs and vegetables sizzling away over an open fire delicately laced in spices. Where can you find all this and so much more? in a desert; yes, that’s right! in the fast developing and sophisticated city of Dubai in the Middle East. I ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too Hot

Dubai Experience I have been travelling on Emirates from 2001 and me and my wife had accumulated about 30,000 skyward points. Of this about 13,000 were to expire on End-Sept-2005 and I thought it may be a good idea to use them. There was a London to Dubai offer for 20,000 points to be used in October and I picked it up. We flew from London Heathrow by EK006 on 28-October-2005 and came back on 2-Nov-2005. The Investigation:- I used the internet to collect information about Dubai and found that there was not really too much information that was available on the net. Some of the sites that I ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

Dubai is the second emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and lays along the shore that face the Arab Gulf. Dubai is divided in two parts by a small creek. The southern section is called Bur Dubai while the northern is Deira. The two sections are linked by two bridges, Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud, and one tunnel, Al Shindagha. Twenty minutes away are the beautiful sands of Jumeirah Beach. Its skyline is very similar to many American cities with skyscrapers and towers, but despite of this fact Dubai keeps some artistic and cultural interesting places. The old Al Fahidi fort is located in the ... more

Advantages Advantages luxury, crime free, clean ,great shopping ,different

Disadvantages Disadvantages unbearable heat, likely to spend far too much!

Dubai is not just the capital of the world for duty free cosmetics (I'll get on to that in a minute!) its also a terrific destination if you like unsurpassed luxury and customer service AND! if you can tolerate furnace like temperatures! Dubai is just a seven hour flight from the UK and therefore ideal for a short break. It is definitely a luxury destination and you'll never find any last minute bargain packages, however,if you shop around you should be able to put your own package together for a five night stay for around £500.00. Trailfinders is a good place to start. Dubai is not huge but ... more

Dubai is often called ’’The Hong Kong of the Middle East’’ because of its role as a free port and sometimes as a the ’’Venice of the Middle East’’ because it is built on water. It is the second largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) As many as 30 different nationalities co-exist amicably in this tolerant, cosmopolitan City. Dubai is a very pleasant city, not only to visit, but also to live in. It has all the mod cons of an affluent western metropolis - adequate water, reliable electricity, state-of-the-art communications, well-stocked ... more
