An Oasis of Paradise in the Arabian Gulf

Advantages: A Bustling Nightlife, Very cheap Shopping with a huge array of different popular retail stores, Beautiful Hotels, Beautiful Beaches, Pleasant weather between October and April, Brilliant service in restaurants across the board, Lots to do
Disadvantages: Alcohol is generally quite expensive, Ramadan (holy month of ramadan means that you must not eat or drink in public during the day)

* Initial Note * Dubai is an absoloutley gorgeous city, rich with culture and history, complemented with the huge modern shopping malls and brilliant service that Asia is famous for. As a lot of people that I have been in correspondance with over the months whilst at CIAO, will know, I spend a lot of time in Dubai. Although getting hot now (Being April), Dubai is definately worth a visit! I would recommend it over any other destination, as I will ...
...not a new Ibiza, but Dubai is growing so fast, that I wouldnt be suprised one day that the cultural style and diversity that pushes on the development of Dubai, will soon allow the club culture to surpass of those more popular clubbing destinations in the Meditteranean today. Dubai, unlike some of the other popular young places to visit such as Ibiza, Malaga, and Ayia Napa, it maintains an heir of class, a cut above the rest is the best way I can ...

From Dubai With Love

Advantages: Dubai is a safe place with very good quality of life. There is universal brotherhood everywhere.
Disadvantages: None for me, but the hot weather for tourists who are not used to this.

...when I first landed at Dubai International Airport by Kuwait Airways. The airport looked small with sand stretching on the sides. I had left my motherland for the first time and I felt a twinge in my heart for leaving my dear ones back at home. There was a sandstorm while I was moving along the roads of Dubai and my spirits further descended to low ebb. But that was the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Days transformed into years and my family ...
...my decision to come to Dubai for greener pastures. Because Dubai made me, and Dubai is in me. Better known as the Pearl of the Gulf, Dubai is one of the seven emirates that form the United Arab Emirates and is a paradise on earth. It stretches 72 km along the Arabian Gulf and has an area of 3885 sqkm. Dubai is the second largest emirate. Dubai creek, on the banks of which Dubai is located, divides the city into two parts: Bur Dubai and Deira. There ...

Paradise, I'm not joking!

Advantages: Nice Weather, beaches, food, destinations, shopping!
Disadvantages: Can be too hot if you go between June-August!

I've been to Dubai twice now, once when I was one, too young to remember anything, and again three years ago. All I got to say is WOW! I didn't know what to expect when we decided to visit family in Dubai, I had no idea what is was going to be like, but assumed for some reason it was going to be similiar to India. ~~The Journey~~ We flew with Emirates, and the jounrny took about six hours from London Heathrow Airport. I was really looking forward ...
...for some reason I assumed Dubai was a developing country and was quite poor, so was half expecting to see homeless people on the streets...boy was I wrong, on our journey way down to my uncle's home, the scenery was so modern! Beautiful buildings, the architecture, the cleaniness of it all. ~~Places to visit~~ There is so much you can do in Dubai, and very easy to get to, apparently there is a saying that everything is only 20 minutes away from ...

PARADISE IN THE DESERT SANDS...

Advantages: Clean, safe, sophisticated, very friendly, modern, shopping! Offers the best of East and West
Disadvantages: None (At present I really cant think of any..just hope too much tourism doesn’t kill the place in 10 years time!)

...developing and sophisticated city of Dubai in the Middle East. I recently had the opportunity to visit Dubai on return from my journey to India and was pleasantly surprised by this modern hi-tech city that manages to combine the best of the West whilst retaining the best of the East’s charm, culture and friendly emirate hospitality. Although I spent only a couple of days in Dubai, it was enough to give me a feel for the place and explore much of ...
...2010. So, where is Dubai? Dubai is the second largest of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE). From UK, it is just 7 hours away and from Asia just 3 hours with an abundance of direct flights. I will discuss the essential travel details of visiting Dubai at the end of this opinion (should you be tempted!) On first impressions of this city, I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean, modern, and sophisticated the city looked. ...

My Dubai Trip ....

Advantages: Time Flies and one falls in love with the place
Disadvantages: Too Hot

Dubai Experience I have been travelling on Emirates from 2001 and me and my wife had accumulated about 30,000 skyward points. Of this about 13,000 were to expire on End-Sept-2005 and I thought it may be a good idea to use them. There was a London to Dubai offer for 20,000 points to be used in October and I picked it up. We flew from London Heathrow by EK006 on 28-October-2005 and came back on 2-Nov-2005. The Investigation:- I used the internet ...
...information that I got on Dubai from the site was great and very up to date. But as it is a paid site all cannot get the information from there. The Money:- I made a big mistake of taking UAE Currency from the UK. I bought AED 6.16 for a £ from Lloyds Bank, Thomas Cook was giving at AED 5.73 / £. When I landed in Dubai, the exchange rate at the airport was AED 6.49 / £. Thus I lost almost 5 % value because of my mistake of getting the currency ...

not only sand

Advantages: *****
Disadvantages: -

Dubai is the second emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and lays along the shore that face the Arab Gulf. Dubai is divided in two parts by a small creek. The southern section is called Bur Dubai while the northern is Deira. The two sections are linked by two bridges, Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud, and one tunnel, Al Shindagha. Twenty minutes away are the beautiful sands of Jumeirah Beach. Its skyline is very similar to many American cities with ...

In the external courtyard there are many different types of wooden boats used by locals for fishing or shipping goods to the nearby Persia (now known as Islamic Republic of Iran) or to the farther India. Quite recently a new section has been added. Its location is in the basement of ...

Shopping Mecca For Make Up and Perfume

Advantages: luxury, crime free, clean ,great shopping ,different
Disadvantages: unbearable heat, likely to spend far too much!

Dubai is not just the capital of the world for duty free cosmetics (I'll get on to that in a minute!) its also a terrific destination if you like unsurpassed luxury and customer service AND! if you can tolerate furnace like temperatures! Dubai is just a seven hour flight from the UK and therefore ideal for a short break. It is definitely a luxury destination and you'll never find any last minute bargain packages, however,if you shop around you should ...
...good place to start. Dubai is not huge but all of the hotels are in the six star category with prices to match for food and drink. A stunning feast for two in the Dubai Forte Grand Hotel costs around £60.00. Alcohol is freely (not exactly free at around £4.50 for a pint of lager!) available for tourists in hotels, so don't fear having your little toe chopped off as punishment for taking a tipple. The city of Dubai is very, very high tech and ...

Dubai is often called ’’The Hong Kong of the Middle East’’ because of its role as a free port and sometimes as a the ’’Venice of the Middle East’’ because it is built on water. It is the second largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) As many as 30 different nationalities co-exist amicably in this tolerant, cosmopolitan City. Dubai is a very pleasant city, not only to visit, but also to live ...
...I had always avoided visiting Dubai because of the tales of the strict Muslim laws but my curiosity was aroused when I learnt that more and more of my friends in London were visiting Dubai and also that the world’s most expensive hotel Burj Al Arab was constructed in the shape of billowing sail which cost nearly 4 billion dollars to build. So when I went to India this February, I decided to stop over in Dubai for 3 nights on my way back. The ...

...to making it permanent. Dubai is a very cosmopolitan city with people from all over the world of different religions living together in peace. I know some might think “but what about all the troubles in the Middle East”, but please take my word for it we have witnessed none of this in Dubai or surrounding areas and I can honestly say I have never felt safer. The city continues to grow daily with new buildings, roads and shopping malls shooting ...

You can see a typical bride preparation scene, a dhow (boat) unloading its wares and enter a souk of the 1950’s, you can even look into an Islamic school. You then enter an oasis, a wonderful tribute to the sea and archaeological finds from the area. A restaurant and children’s play area can also be found here. The entrance fees are Dhs3 (£0.50) ...

Where the East meets the West

Advantages: Excellent weather, good shopping, fantastic restaurants and nightlife, excellent service,
Disadvantages: Can be really hot in summer months, in the souks woman tend to get stared at alot by locals, woman also should cover up in public areas such as souks, alcohol is a bit on the expensive side and can only be bought and drank inside 4* or above hotels

I first went to Dubai in March 2001, it was love at first sight. From the sparkling blue sea to the magnificent towering hotels this is a destination to set your heart alight. It's not just a Middle Eastern country shroud in religion this is where the traditional East meets the modernised West. You have traditional mosques on one side of the road and the imposing Burj Al Arab ( supposedly the only 7* hotel in the world ) on the other. You have traditional ...
...food is your thing then Dubai is the place to dine. From traditional Arabic outlets where you can eat for as little as £5.00 a head and then you have the huge array of restaurants to dine at inside hotels, you can have Italian, German, Seafood, French, Thai, A La Carte, Persian, Japanese, the list is endless. For a typical evening meal at a hotel restaurant you should be prepared to spend at least £20.00 - £30.00 a head then if you decide you want ...

Diera vs Jumeira

Advantages: Fantastic weather in March
Disadvantages: Stupid car horns!

...looking forward to going to dubai since i started working for a travel agency because everyone told me how great it was. I decided to go see it for myself while i was hopping over to Hong Kong to see my family and since emirates are, in my opinion, such a good airline i decided that a long stopover would be a great idea on the way. ACCOMMODATION I stayed at Golden Sands 3 which is just outside the Diera district and part of a large chain in Dubai ...
...variety of good restaurants. Dubai itself is crammed full of great hotels but nearly all the best ones such as the Hilton and Jumeira Beach Hotel (the wave) are situated around 20mins in a taxi away actually on the Jumeira strip. More are being developed such as the new Palms complex where im told David Beckham has already bought a suite but these are once again in Jumeira. In my opinion Jumeira is the place to be. It has the only really great ...

Dubai A place for Kings and Queens

Advantages: The locals, scenery and shopping
Disadvantages: Price of the trip

I first went to Dubai to visit some friends. I immediately fell in love with the place. It is the only place that I have ever been to which would accomodate every type of break, a honeymoon, family holiday or a holiday amongst friends. I struggled to understand why anyone would visit Spain, Greece or in fact anywhere else in the world. This place has everything. Of particular interest were the shops. With the absence of copyright laws, the shops ...

During my visits I watched Duran Duran and Maxi Priest, these play at the large beach resorts which accomodate thousands of tourists and have excellent facilities including English pubs, restaurants from all nations, swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms and their own stretch of beach which is raked early every morning to ensure that the water is clear, and free of sharp rocks ...

Advantages: upper market
Disadvantages: no comment

Dubai caters for many tastes. Which I’ll discuss in a mo. I’ll get over the discouraging bit first. PRICE. The price of the flight/hotel can be on the expensive side, £625 for a week r/o that’s just a rough guide to price, if you look around you can get good deals at certain times of the year. If you’re a serious jewellery shopaholic and are looking for a holiday of a lifetime head for Dubai, think of all the tax-free shopping you can do. If you’re ...

If your not a serious shopper, maybe you’re into browsing round the souks bartering with the shop owners and picking up a bargain or two. Perhaps you’re a chef looking to buy exotic spices that are sold out of sacks, not pre-packaging that hides the delicious mouth-watering ...

Vacation in Dubai

Advantages: shopping, beaches, gold, nice and warm weather
Disadvantages: Can get too hot :-)

...Stavanger (Norway) via Amsterdam to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. We stayed at the Arif Castle Hotel in Bur Dubai. Prelude We always take a lot of time deciding when to go and where to go on vacation. I first read about Dubai in a local newspaper about 4-5 years back and this was the first time I realised that it would be a fun destination. Well, I had really never thought of it as a travel destination before at all. The article can be found ...
...it is best to visit Dubai in the spring and fall. In the summer it can get VERY hot (up to 50 degrees Celsius). Going there in March was great for us because at that time it is still pretty cold in Norway. The journey begins As I have already mentioned, our trip started on March 13th. We flew Braathens/KLM from Stavanger (Norway) via Amsterdam to Dubai. The 5000 km trip from Amsterdam to Dubai takes about 6 ½ hours. Before we left we bought a travel ...

Getting Married abroad? - how about Dubai?

Advantages: Weather, Shopping, Luxury and Hospitality
Disadvantages: Alcohol Laws, sometimes the price.

...Uncle and Aunt live in Dubai and have done for many years. The Family have made several trips there and we have all loved it so they chose to get married there. And what a good choice they made! The wedding proved fairly easy to organise. Mum was able to communicate all her requirements through email with no language barriers and everyone was so helpful. They got married (offically) in a very beautiful church in the middle of the desert and then ...
...to be arranging weddings in Dubai soon!! So here are my Top Tips for getting married in Dubai: 1. Laws for marriage in Dubai are not as advanced as ours, and you are not yet allowed to be officially married in a civil atmosphere. Dubai has a Church of England where you can offically marry and then proceed to a blessing in the hotel of your choice. The Vicar is English and is more than happy to carry out a 2nd blessing..at a cost!! 2. Pick a hotel, ...
