...drinking. We went to Dublin in January this year, and had a fantastic time.
Our flights cost £55 each return (incl. taxes) from Heathrow to Dublin on Aer Lingus. We booked online - www.aerlingus.com. The flights themselves were pretty good, with no delays and friendly service, which makes a pleasant change from Air France. Plus, our bags arrived with us this time (see previous review on Air France). The only thing about Aer Lingus is that you have ...

4. Dublin is a friendly, quaint little city
Dublin is great. The citizens of Dublin would never exude irrational hatred of poverty-stricken immigrants and asylum-seekers from war-torn Eastern European countries. Neither do they have a superior nature towards the rest of the country. The city has no crime whatsoever and the police are not corrupt and run by Mafia-esque gangs.
5. Ireland is stuck in the 1930s

Why is Dublin the fastest growing city in Europe? Because it just keeps doubling and doubling and doubling! Odd that seemed funnier in my head.
Anyhow to begin, some confessions. I am not Irish. I don't live in Dublin. I don't visit Dublin every other day that has a 'Y' in it and I don't even drink Guinness very often. However, I recently organised a trip to take a group of thirteen for what was my first ever visit to the Emerald Isle. So if you ...

It was no wonder that for my 20th wedding anaversery last May, i invited two friends of ours to share it with us and make a week-end of it. So...we booked for a two night stay in Dublin
Got the flight from Blackpool for about £20.00 each and booked into the Temple Bar hotel on Temple Bar (which is a well known, popular Dublin area)

We decided to visit Dublin for a few days. We were going to Israel via Amsterdam and in those days it was cheaper to fly from Amsterdam to Dublin than it was from London. We flew on Aer Lingus for a little over an hour.
Dublin is the capital city of Erin, (the Gaelic name of Ireland). The currency then was the punt or the Irish pound,(they use the Euro now). The official language is Gaelic but English is used as well. Dublin’s ...

Advantages: Small, lots to see Disadvantages: The crime
...18 months since I visited Dublin and this is a very fast changing city, so some things may by now be completely different. Having said that, given that attractions like the Book of Kells have lasted about 800 years, I don't think a few months here or there will make that much difference.
My first impressions of Dublin on arrival were that it was both a lot smaller and a lot busier than I had expected. This is a boom town: thanks largely to the ...

Having visited Dublin about 10 times in the last year ( to see my gorgeous girlfriend) I guess I'm suitably qualified to advise on a Dublin weekend by now.
1. Travel> Boat
Unless you live close to Holyhead, get on a plane to Ireland. I have been by boat twice and the cost for one person (sometimes 2 or 3)is more than the plane. Boats take between 1.5-3 hours depending on which one you take. I think Irish Ferries and Stena operate the services, ...

...just a short hop to Dublin for a few days. I couldn’t help but watch the ever-changing wing shape with intensity throughout the flight. After a quick pop above the clouds we touched down at Dublin International Airport.
First impression of the city, lying in the sweep of Dublin Bay, was the wide River Liffey dividing it into a north and south half. It struck me how architecturally minded Dublin is with its huge Georgian-style buildings from ...

Advantages: The people! The Guinness and the beautiful city. Disadvantages: May be ruined by too many rude tourists
I was last in Dublin in December just before Chirstmas. I hadn't been to Dublin for a few years until then. So When I got there I was surprised and wowed by how much it had changed and by how much it had stayed the same!
It seems Dublin has only got better, its the best City in the world to shop outside New York. The people are the most freindly bunch of people in the world. And the cold fresh sea air that blows in from the irish sea is just perfect ...

I went to Dublin for the first time last year to attend my brother and sister-in-laws wedding.
My wife and I took my two under 5's with us who where really excited about going on a ferry for the first time. We stayed in a town near Dublin called Dun Laoghaire (pronounced dun leary!)as it was a ferry port and close to the Royal Marine Hotel where they were holding the reception.
Dun Laoghaire was much like any typical english town (apart from ...

Advantages: Friendly, Lots of choice Disadvantages: Quality of gay accommodation- try out an ordinary hotel to use as a base!
Ireland and in particular Dublin is changing. No more the backward reserved country it once was it now has some of the best Gay facilities and attractions of anywhere in the UK.
Staying In Dublin
Dublin has three main gay guest houses. Frankies, The Horse and Carriage and The Inn on the Liffey. All are small and it has to be said not up to the standard of the prices they charge. On the plus side all are central and within easy walking distance ...

...during the day, remember that Dublin is right by the sea. If you head towards Black Rock from Dublin City Centre you will pass by The Strand...here is the sea and when the tide is out you can walk out miles! If you're into doing something relaxing and are feeling energetic do go here...it's very calming. But watch out for the tide - it comes in really fast and if you're not careful and not keeping your wits about you you'll find yourself being surrounded ...

For me, a short, red-haired, freckled Irish girl with an extremely strong Irish accent, I'm the stuff most Americans dream of and considering the other members of the bus were either internationals talking on their phones, business people hidden deep in coats or else students like myself but were lucky enough to be taller and have blonde/brown/black hair, I was perfect for them to talk about.
They were of course Americans ...

I have been to Dublin twice in the past 6 years, on both ocassions I was only there for 4 short hours as I awaited my ferry back to England after fishing trips. Both visits were really to kill time but in the short time I was there I fell in love with the city and must return.
I managed to explore a different part of this wonderful city each time and my lasting thought is that I really must make the time to go back to Ireland for a non fishing ...

Advantages: Guiness quality Disadvantages: Rising price of a pint
...the pint one gets in Dublin is richer in flavour and velvetty thicker in texture than anything I've had in London.
It is perfect with local oysters on the half shell. Or with Irish stew. Or the extraordinary cheeses of the emerald isle. Or even with rich chocolate desserts!
The only problem: the Irish economy is growing at such phenomenal speed, you may pay a few more pence for your pint. But a little goes a longer way in Dublin! ...
