Advantages Advantages Superpricee and I live there

Disadvantages Disadvantages May not have the biggest and best of everything

As you may know out there, I'm from Dundee, in Scotland. Actually, you're more likely to know that Richard (superpricee) lives in Dundee as he's forever banging on about it, and surprise surprise, I live there too! We live in different parts of town though - Richard stays in Fintry, and I live in Broughty Ferry, which was once a small fishing village in the good old days but is now suburb of Dundee. The City is the fourth largest in Scotland with a population of about 120,000. There are 2 universities, Dundee Uni. and the University of Abertay (which is a relatively new Uni, having upgraded ... more

Advantages Advantages Vibrant city, lots to do

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has a number of poor areas

It has been the case for a long time that Dundee’s wealth and prosperity was built on the three J’s. Jute, which was imported into the city from India and Pakistan, was spun and then woven in the manufacture of bags used in packaging. Jam which was produced at the world famous Keiller’s factory. Journalism was significant, not least for the huge plant of D C Thomson, perhaps still best known as the producers of The Beano. Dundee remains a large city boasting like Edinburgh and Glasgow two premier league football teams. This winter will also see the opening of a new ice rink to replace the one ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots to offer and close to many other places of interest.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a huge variety of choice for pub-goers. TOO MUCH KARAOKE AROUND!

I have listed a variety of points about my home town, hopefully there's something relivant to everyone. Dundee was the home port of the Antarctic exploration ship RRS Discovery, the historic vessel which took Captain Robert Scott to Antarctica. Hence Dundee's slogan - "City of Discovery" The Mills Observatory on Dundee's Balgay Hill is Britain's only full-time public observatory. (I've not visited for a while but have fond memories of a neat electronic model of the solar system) The "Law" (the hill around which Dundee is built) is a dormant volcanoe. It provides a great view of Dundee, the ... more

Advantages Advantages Better than it was

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still not somewhere I'd want to spend a lot of time

Having tried to avoid going to Dundee as much as humanly possible for as long as I can remember I ventured there recently and was pretty surprised by the changes that have taken place. Last time I went there the shopping centres were grotty, the city uninviting and there was practically nothing to do with the exception of the Rep and visiting the Discovery. I was impressed however to see the centre of town modernised. New shopping centres boasted lots of great shops (big chains venturing up north - hurray)and lots of landscaping especially around the riverside has improved the city immensely ... more

dundee is the most boring and dullest city in the whole wide world due to the following reasons : a. dundee is a place for retired people, there is nothing to do. b. the weather is forever changing, one minute u have rain the next you have hailstones. c. there is the lack of facilties for youngsters, we can go swimming, cinema or bowling. d. the most 'exciting' thing is probably the underagers and the town's slappas territory- mardi gra nightclub. e. the scottish culture is non-exitent, there is no haggis, people do not eat haggis on a sunday anymore (what is the world coming to?) f. the ... more

When you think of Dundee, you dont really get a good picture, you'd probably think that it was rainy and boring.... I hate to disapoint you but it can be! But on the other hand it can be enjoyable. Dundee is originally the home of jute, jam and journalism. There are many interesting places to visit, and a new shopping centre has just opened up. Most of the population of Dundee consists of students so the town is filed with young people. The town is also not too far away from St. Andrews ( with its famous golf courses). Dundee is well worth a visit if you happen to be passing with lots for all ... more
