This could be a good hotel but it appeared to me that there was no leadership. The staff were poorly trained, if trained at all, it took ages to get a cup of tea in the mornings. The rooms and the interior of the hotel needs alot of TLC. The staff didn't smile at all so one could imagine that they were not happy in their work which reflected in their attitude. The waiters however did work hard but with no back up from management they found it difficult to cope which was apparent to us.
A shame. ...

Paid £250 for the appledore suite for 1 night. Expected the best - got a third rate room, health and safety hazard (lots of cables around the room), 1 out of order shower, 1960s decor including damp patches on ceiling, poor TV reception. Extras were good - champagne, chocolates, fruit and jacuzzi but not worth the cost. Complained twice to reception, no duty manager available. Filled in form before leaving then sent lengthy letter with photos. Manager replied and said she left ansa machine message for us to call when actually she had said she'd call back. However she did refund £200! Seems that they realise we did have a point after all. Advice - go elsewhere, we certainly will next time. ...

This hotel is awful!!! By all means go to the area but do not go to this hotel. my girlfriend got bad food poisening. the staff were rude and generally useless!!! the room we stayed in was like something out of the 60's. The first morning at breakfast we entered the restaurant early as we did not sleep well only to find the useless waiter asleep in the corner, he was the most useless of them all!!! For what we paid we certainly did not get value for money!!! To sum it all up I can say it in 14 words ....... DONT GO TO THE DURRANT HOUSE HOTEL IT WILL NOT BE A PLEASANT EXPERIANCE!!!! ...

The food was dreadful (truly, truly dreadful), the bedroom smelly, and the staff either didn't speak English, or were dismissive and patronising. Some of the front desk staff were clipped and condescending in their attitude. My party had concerns we wished to pass on to a supervisor, and we were told that 85% of the guests hadn't complained, so there couldn't be a problem.
The refurbishment that apparently started some time ago (looking back on ... ...far (and there are still wires dangling everywhere). The advertised pool was green and slimy, and the advertised Indian restaurant wasn't there. (Again, looking back on this site, the pool hasn't been available for much of the year).
We, as a group, were there for a dancing weekend, but the floor was far too small and, on one occasion, a major leak directly above the dance-floor left us all strutting our stuff around buckets and towels on a damp ...
