Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Rude staff, tired decor, poor value for money.
I stayed at the Duxton Hotel in Wellington in February this year following the wedding reception of my sister in law. The reception was held in the hotel so we decided that it would be far easier to stay over afterwards. The hotel is located on the sea front and you have amazing views (if you are in the front half of the hotel) of Wellington Harbour.
You arrive at the hotel and your car is taken away by a valet to be parked somewhere - so far so ... ...would be mistaken though - the reception staff do not grace you with a smile - they are straight faced and unwelcoming, serving you as if you are doing them a favour by staying there.
We were given the key to our room which was, at least clean and tidy, although there were hairs in the shower area that belonged to the cleaner/ previous guest - who knows?
The decor was tired and despite requesting a double room we were given a twin. The room had ...
