Come fly with me
Review of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) by
marcellep2
Advantages: Local
Disadvantages: Check in hell
Thank you for choosing Edinburgh airport for the interest of safety please ensure no baggage is left unattended. With recent events still in everyone's mind Edinburgh Airport now has armed police and bollards at the front of the terminal. I have flown from EDI airport before and after the recent events at our neighbouring airport in Glasgow.
Getting to the airport

As good as it gets these days
Review of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) by
ScottishWestie
Advantages: User friendly, decent service & staff, flight choice
Disadvantages: Security can be slow, location due to volume of traffic on mian roads
...medium'. This where I think Edinburgh Airport has got the balance just right, you can fly across the Atlantic, Europe & domestically without the hassle of a large airport & it remains quite user friendly.
Edinburgh airport is situated on the outskirts of the city & is easy to access by shuttle bus from the city centre or by taxi. If you are driving there it can be difficult in peak times & you need to take this into account, add between 45-60 minutes ...

Getting High in Edinburgh
Review of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) by
proxam
Advantages: Convenient location...for me
Disadvantages: Lack of destinations
...directly overhead to and from EDINBURGH AIRPORT which is only 6-7 miles from my house.
So, when I saw an offer from flyglobespan.com, a new low-cost operator, for scheduled flights to Barcelona for less than £100 return, I booked up quicker than a greyhound passing a Korean restaurant.
• THE PAST •
The present Edinburgh Airport was opened by Queen Elizabeth I/II, in 1977.
The airfield that was to become Edinburgh Airport was the ...

Flying From A Tartan Airport
Review of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) by
StereoMike1983
Advantages: Nice departures lounge
Disadvantages: Domestic baggage claim didn't appear secure
...girlfriend and I travelled to Edinburgh for a short weekend and as I was able to get discounted flights, we decided to fly up.
Edinburgh Turnhouse is situated about 8 miles outside Edinburgh city centre and is the only commercial airport for the Scottish Capital. Operated by BAA, the same people who run Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted to name a few, it was originally built as an RAF base during WWI. Today it sees flights operating not only to destinations ...

BAA, BAA, buy, buy
Review of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) by
Pinotage
Advantages: New, more shops and restuarants
Disadvantages: Bigger, slower to move through
My, how it's grown. Edinburgh airport was a small easy to handle airport that you could pass through in a matter of minutes. Now it is all grown up. Being run by BAA this mostly involves being made to walk unnecessarily long distances in order to pass rows of shops.
Unless you think an airport should encompass a shopping centre, then I don't think the new airport offers any major improvements, although I suppose they can handle more flights and ...

Fly Away
Review of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) by
sandie7
Advantages: more shops and restaurants
Disadvantages: longer to walk places
Edinburgh Airport, the airport I use every year. Edinburgh Airport has improved a lot. It has plenty of shops for people to buy magazines and things before boarding their plane, also there are lots of restaurants to eat at before you go. There are your trolleys as usual to carry luggage about or you even put it on the plane when it's time. One thing that's been changed which I liked was how you used to be able to sit in the restaurant and watch planes ...

Edinburgh Re-vamped
Review of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) by
MWS1963
Advantages: Modern,Clean
Disadvantages: Layout
I have just travelled from the airport, and am pleased that the renovations in the Departure areas are at last finished.
It gives the Airport a much needed larger seating capacity and some much needed additional coffee and bar areas with some great views, which it lacked while undergoing much needed renovation to meet the growing number of travellers.
The new lounges for businees passengers are nicely located, while the ordinary travellers are ...
