...the hotel with you.
The Edison hotel was built in 1931in true Art Deco style it is situated on 228 West 47th Street just half a block from Times Square and one block from restaurant row. A few steps in either direction and you can enjoy the great theatres of Broadway so the situation of this hotel is perfect. From our bedroom window we could see Times Square.
Check in
We arrived at the hotel by taxi from JFK airport and were immediately greeted ... ...and set them down in the lobby for us he then left just as quick and did not wait for a tip. The desk was long and well staffed I did not have to wait and handed over our hotel voucher and after a couple of signatures I was given the card keys to room 2118. We were on the 21st floor of this 22 storey hotel.
I was then shown where the lifts were and wished a nice day. There were a row of lifts servicing the 22 floors ( 6 I think ) and 1 came in seconds.

Advantages: Right by times square Disadvantages: The view wasn't great
This Febuary just gone I was lucky enough to jet off to NYC with my school. We stayed at a hotel just off of times square, it was a great hotel (considering it was 2 stars).
Rooms: Although they weren't huge, they were just about the right size. With two double beds, a big cabinet with a TV in it, bedside table and a chair there was still room for 3 of us girls and our gigantic luggage!
The room was quite dark luckily the lamps could be turned ... ...sleeping on a slab of concrete, I actually enjoyed sleeping in them and also they were very spacious so with me and my friend in there, there was still lots of room. Also you wouldn't have to be cold in that new york winter because I found the bedding was quite think. The bathroom wasn't exactly huge so it made getting dressed in there quite hard, but the shower and basin were both clean. Although the toilet scared me because it made the loudest ...

Advantages: Fantastic Location, Great Service, Helpful Staff, Disadvantages: Only the View
I stayed at the Edison Hotel in New York over New Years 2005/2006, and had a wonderful time. Although my first impression of the hotel was that it was just an ordinary building with lots of rooms like so many others in New York, but that opinion soon changed when I entered the hotel. The decor was nothing short of delightful, bright and colourful, with paintings, mirrors and furniture completing the set-up of the foyer area. The staff were extremely ... ...from the Edison. The Edison also has the 'Piano Bar' which is very welcoming and had a fantastic atmosphere on New Years Eve and a very wide range of Alcoholic bevrages.
As our visit was during the new year celebrations, which took place on Times Square, the Edison proved to be the ideal location as the New York Police Department closed of an 18 block perimeter around Times Square. Luckily, the Edison Hotel was well within the perimeter and just ...

Advantages: Rooms are spacious, clean, fresh and everyone is so friendly. Disadvantages: No disadvantges, loved this place.
I visited this hotel with my school in February 2007 and there was a group of 40 with 5 teachers. The group included boys and girls, there were very welcoming when we arrived after a long flight from England and getting up a 4.30. They allowed us up to our rooms, which where very spacious and comfortable. They had big double beds, which could have easily have fitted three people in. The bathroom was spacious and clean with lovley hot water for when ... ...long weary day. They provided us with big white fluffy towels to use after our bath and shower and layed out complimenatry gifts for us to use.
The hotel is just round the corner from Times Square which is buzzing all the time with the bright lights.
I recommend you visit this hotel, with its friendly staff and comfortable beds. ...

Advantages: Great Location Disadvantages: Nothing!
The Edison Hotel, Is a clean basic hotel, that doesnt cost to much money and is in the centre of Times Square
The Hotel:
The Edison is located on west 47th street and Broadway and is literally steps from Times Square, Not even half a block! As you enter the lobby is is large and elegantly decorated. The checking in staff were lovely, polite and helpful. A bell boy carried our bags into the lift and showed us to our 7th floor room. We entered the ... ...people, it had a chest of draws and a closet to put all our things there was plenty of space, although the rooms were not the largest Iv stayed in, in NYC they were not small. They were decorated old fashioned but the things were not actually old, there was no bad smell and everything was very clean. We opened our curtains and had a view of Times Square (if you tilt your head to the right!). The bathroom was adequit size with toilet, bidet, bath ...

Advantages: Clean, Good facilities, Great location Disadvantages: Lounge small, Busy, sofa bed uncomfortable
The edison hotel in time square is a good hotel overall.
Starting with the location, I can't complain, It is a 20 second walk to the heart of times square and easy access to most places on manhattan. Inside the hotel, the reception area is quite good, very busy as it is New York but also because there is a diner connected to the hotel next to the reception, The lounge is tidy with comfy sofas but it is very small and no food or drink is allowed ... ...relax. The shop is good, sells nearly all kinds of souvenirs and sells I <3 NY tshirts for $10 and that's for four tshirts!
The rooms are great, Very clean and friendly staff, Bathroom is great, marble and comes with shower gel etc. all the essentials, The beds are comfy except the sofa bed which is hard and you can feel the metal pole underneath which is disturbing through the night, The tv it good and has cable so you have lots of good channels. ...

Advantages: great location, clean, big rooms Disadvantages: sometimes noisy
The Hotel Edison is right in the heart of the Big Apple so first off, perfect location!
I stayed on about the 4 floor - i was with a big group of people but 4 of us stayed in a room with 2 double beds, as shown in the one above and we had ample room; they are of a really good size.
It is a little noisy seeing as you're right up and close to the action, but what do you expect when you're staying in the city that never sleeps!!
All staff I came ... ...was always someone on the door. There is a 24 hour deli literally right next door to the Edison which became very useful for late night snacks and essentials! The Edison is great value for money, especially if you love being right in the centre of it all!! ...
