El Cortez is one of those old places that still survive the demolition frenzy in Las Vegas. Located in Downtown - not the best place to go if you're here for just one or two days - is one of the locals favorite, well sort of..
It used to be a place humming with activity, however, given the return of the machines (which locals favor) you can find some days where many areas are devoid of customers.

One restaurant (Roberta's) offers passable fair and there's also a coffee shop with prices starting around $6 (Gone are the days of .99c breakfasts).
