...their own particular charm. Estepona has none of the razz ma tazz associated with Holiday resorts. It has one of the longest, cleanest (Blue Flag and all that) beaches on the Costa del Sol if not in the whole of Spain. There are tall watch towers, manned all day (Thing of Bay Watch - I actually have a photograph of a lifeguard in a red suit!!).
The town is built on a couple of hills running back to the Sierra Nevada and you walk straight off the ... ...town to the west of Estepona (About 8Km) where you can see the largest car boot fair on the Costas, one difference, everything that you see came out of a Spanish loft and therefore, everything is so collectable!! Coins, medals, lamps, "Genuine" Moorish cannon balls!! Further west in Sottogrande, there is another Marina, also very grand and for the Golfing set and, here, on a Sunday, there is a craft fair - something different again, many of the stall ...

...if that were the case. Estepona is a little known resort (and I use the term 'resort' very loosely) half way between Malaga and Gibraltar.
I had the pleasure of living in Estepona for a year, and we left only three months ago, so things are still relatively fresh in my mind! Let's start with the good points, shall we....
Estepona has good all year round weather. The summer finds temperatures in excess of 100 degrees (Fahrenheit!). The hottest months ... ...Jan-Mar.
The beaches in Estepona are wonderful. They stretch for miles and the sand is soft and golden. The beaches are cleaned every night, so that the next morning, if you get to the beach early, it appears as though you are the first person ever to tread there. Advantages: Lovely weather, great beaches, many restaurants Disadvantages: Not much for tourists in the town itself
...As you have probably guessed Estepona is sort of split into two parts. There is the main town where the residents live and the tourists with the holiday apartments in which I have to say has the best beach in Estepona. In the main part, which is where I spent most of my time, there are many shops and restaurants. There are a few which we have been over the three times I have been, although I can't remember all the names of the restaurants off the ... ...Other great things about Estepona is the fact that there are many banks dotted all over for your convenience. There is also an internet cafe which also has telephone and fax facilities. This is actually the best place to use the telephone as you make your call then receive a bill so you don't have to worry about being cut off.
