My local office in Taunton, has recently moved from the convenient location of the local ... ...so I cycled to the Europcar offices on one occasion I had to make 2 rental bookings at the same time. In the five or so minutes it took to arrange these, the rental agreement number had increased by over 2500, so they are renting A LOT of cars
All the cars are new, as soon as they get to around 12,000 miles they cars are sold on.
My last rental was a Renault Megane estate. This with my business discount cost £26 per day (I had the car for 15 days). ...

And on to Europcar themselves; My first paid for UK experience of this company was when I discovered at the EasyJet check-in desk at Gatwick airport that I needed to return home to complete some very urgent work, leaving my other half to tootle off to Madrid on his own, and me back down the M4 to Swansea. The even bigger downside was that I had to return to Gatwick on the Saturday to collect him, for some reason, driving back down the M4 at ... ...most good companies these days, Europcar offer preferential rates to customers who book on-line, and you can reserve vehicles at any of their world-wide locations.
Their site is ridiculously easy to navigate, you can book cars at any of their outlets across the world and you simply need to provide a debit/ credit car to secure the booking, and provide them with your full name, a contact number and a valid e-mail address

Europcar Car hire in Crete BEFORE ARRIVING IN CRETE: I booked two cars with this company for our stay in Crete on the internet prior to our arrival in Crete. Once upon a time my wife and I had to make a little trip from Munich to Leipzig (Germany). We actually were planning on doing this by car, so we can have a few stops and visit a view places on the way. But of course destiny can be cruel and so can be traffic forecasts on the radio. Booking a car there is painless and easy. Choose location, date and the car. Enter credit card details, done. One thing I liked was that they offered some type of cars, they claimed would be available at my chosen locations. At Oviedo, Europcar has its cars parked as near to the airport door as it is possible to be. A big 'well-done'.
The Car.

We had booked a 3 door VW Polo or equivalent, with aircon.
They do the usual range - micro with 2 doors and no aircon, all the way up to people carriers.
When we got to the car, we discovered that we had a 5 door Seat Ibiza, with aircon.
The car was spotless, maps were provided, it was diesel ( more ... ...give back their report.
Europcar did not bother.! We were politely treated by the same girl in the office, who took the keys, completed the paper work and handed back our credit card voucher - all in the space of two or three minutes.
I have used Europcar in England twice before, but this was the first time abroad. It was a most pleasant experience, making our holiday go extra well. They have outlets all over Europe including UK.

...to Brussels I have used Europcar again. As there is usually just myself or at most one colleague a small car will do but nothing too small. For my last 2 visits I have had a Vauxhall Astra (which I did not like as a car) and a Citroen Xsara (which I did like). On both occasions the car was ready as soon as I arrived and having prebooked through my company it was a simple signature, a check of my driving licence and off to the car parking area.

The staff at Europcar are always very friendly. I have used Hertz in the past and found the Hertz service to be inferior to that of Europcar. The csost are reasonable good at about £50-60 for the 2 days at both places plus insurance. We tend to fully insure our cars to avoid any possible problems. Costs here can mount though and can add 50% to the hire cost if you do include every last element of waiver.

It would seem that by booking this way, rather than through a travel agent has certain advantages. For instance, we almost always seem to get upgraded.
Most of the better known car hire companies offer a similar service and up to date, well prepared cars. Where Europcar excel as far as we are concerned is in the courteous, highly efficient service provided ... ...and highly efficiently by the Europcar staff. For instance, like a prat, I locked the keys in the car in Almeria, Spain at around 8pm one evening. A taxi was sent out from the airport with a spare set at no charge. Try that one with Avis or Hertz! On another occasion, on swerving to avoid another car on the wrong side of the road, I hit a bouldr and fatally injoured both tyre and wheel. ...prebooked a hire car from Europcar on the internet for collection at Paphos Airport. Very straight forward booking via the internet and was sent email confirmation very promptly. You need to print this out and present this on collection.
The collection was very straight forward. The Europcar desk at Paphos airport is directly infront of you when you come through Customs. We signed all the paperwork; produced our Passports and Credit Card but had ... ...of booking over the internet and with the ease of collecting the car on arrival and departure.
My only gripe were the dents and scratches on the car. I just hope europcar had noted all of them and not thought we put any of the scratches on the car. ...

Only one person cared, Kosana in the Europcar Serbia office, but she could not solve the problem by herself. She forwarded my emails to other people. It was impossible to find out who was at the bottom of this, even what office. After seven months, Carole Hesry, a customer service rep at Europcar France, got the word. ... ...wire transfer. Can you believe Europcar charged me the $15 for the wire transfer? So to this day, they have not returned all the money. Plus I had to change my plans many times because of not having 1000 dollars that I was expecting. And I spent a ton of time and stress trying to motivate Europcar employees. I asked them if this was covered under the insurance since it I was not at fault and they said it was, and not to worry about it since I had proof. About a week after I returned I had two new charges on my card from EUROPCAR totaling over $150.00. I had contacted their customer service earlier about a different matter and received a response within a couple ... ...times asking about these charges and have not received a reply whatsoever. So I do not even know what the charges are for. I suspect it has to do with the damages but I was told that I would not be charged for those damages. Since they do not answer I do not know what to think. I have gone to my bank about this issue and hopefully they will be able to get my money back. We got to the Europcar office at around 9pm. We waited about an hour before we got served. We had ordered a "Compact" car which we were told would be a similar size to a Renault Megane. The woman offered us a peugeot 206 which was too small. She spent about 20 minutes trying to convince us a 206 was the same size as a Megane and wasn't an "Economy". When she eventually admitted that the 206 was a smaller car than we'd ordered she said she couldn't ... ...bigger than a 206 but still not as big as a Megane) The car was brand new, had delivery milage on the clock but one of the electric windows still managed to break. Would never use Europcar again, we usually use Avis who always have good service and good cars. ...

Quick review of Europcar
The car hired had a cracked windscreen which was noted on the hire document.
On returning to England I was sent a bill for the damaged windscreen, so I wrote a letter ( in English) explaining the situation, the fact the windscreen was already broken ect.
I received no reply and 431.78 euros was deducted from my account without my permission, it was said when I hired the vehicle that the card was only needed for security purposes. I subsequently phone customer services in France which cost me about £10. Eventually I phoned customer service in England and was informed that I had to get onto Auto Europe, they took up my grievance and subsequently I received a refund.
This transaction has cost me the innocent party £20, ...
