I was a little confused because the Channel Tunnel and the Eurotunnel sound like much the same thing to me. Hopefully this will make things clearer for you...
The Channel Tunnel is the tunnel itself that connects the UK to France. Eurotunnel is the operator of the high speed train transport system which links the UK and France through the Channel Tunnel, and it runs between Folkestone which ... ...opening back in 1994. The Eurotunnel system is made up of 3 tunnels - two main tunnels for trains and one tunnel which acts as a central service area. Each tunnel is 31 miles long, and runs approximately 40 metres deep under the seabed. It is actually the longest undersea rail tunnel in the world, which is pretty impressive.
The tunnels are in operation all year round, all day and all night long. Around 400 trains pass through the tunnel each day. ...

...the high seas?
Then Eurotunnel is the one for you. What is Eurotunnel? Well, it's the train service that runs between Folkestone and Calais through the Channel Tunnel carrying motor vehicles. It takes thirty-five minutes to make the crossing, runs twice an hour during the day and two hourly at night.
Why Eurotunnel? It's the quickest and, quite frankly, the easiest way of getting to the continent. I say this as someone who crosses the channel between ... ...The journey time of Eurotunnel compares favourably with the ferries, the quickest of which take seventy-five minutes, and it's nearest rival in terms of speed, the catamaran that operates between Dover and Boulogne, which takes fifty minutes. Not only that, boarding and disembarkation procedures are also swifter, while the terminals at both Folkestone and Calais are directly linked to the motorways, saving further time. Furthermore, on the British ...

...What is it **
Eurotunnel is the channel tunnel crossing. It is a train which runs from just outside Folkestone in Kent, to just outside Coquelles, just outside Calais in France. The train is basically a car and lorry transporter. You drive on in England, and drive off in France (or vice versa) sounds so simple!!
There are two types of trains, one to take the lorries, and one to take the cars. The lorries have their own loading area, so there will ... ...There are plenty of Eurotunnel staff around, to help you, especially at the help desk.. There are also a number of screens displaying the train times, and if they are boarding or not.

So my boarding time is called – off I drive. There are lots of Eurotunnel people there to guide you in the correct direction.
First off you pass immigration and customs for the UK. I have never been stopped; in fact I have never had to ...

...The great thing about the Eurotunnel is that the travel time is on 35 minutes and the whole process is reasonably painless. To get to Folkestone you need junction 11 of the M20 to get to the channel tunnel itself. This is so clearly signposted and for about 20 miles there is a sign every two miles letting you know how far away you are. When you get to Folkestone simply follow the signs to your needed entrance e.g. cars one way, coaches and lorries ... ...I would definitely recommend Eurotunnel to people who just want to get to France easily and quickly with very little hassle. If you have small children however the ferry may be the better option as they can get out and move around and there is much more there to entertain them. Also the dutty free on the ferry is much better then in the Eurotunnel terminal. So enjoy and don't forget the passports :)
P.S. if you are going in the next week or so there ...

...am a recent convert to Eurotunnel I have to admit. The thought of driving across to France never really appealed until I bought tickets for the rugby world cup this year and had to make 6 seperate trips to Paris.

...the poor service provided by Eurotunnel on the 28 Jan 05. I arrived at the Eurotunnel exit off the M20 at about 1630hrs. Quick review of Eurotunnel
I booked the car transport on the Eurotunnel and then called to make a car reservation. Both companies I called alerted me to the fact that I would end up on the wrong side of the road and strongly recommended against it.
I tried to cancel my reservation within 24 hours (and weeks before the date), but was told by Eurotunnel that they would do nothing to hlep me and would return not a penny of my family's money.
Be very careful about dealing with these people! ...
