"...THE CHANNEL TUNNEL AND THE EUROTUNNEL ,,` I was a little confused because the Channel Tunnel and the Eurotunnel sound like much the same thing to me. Hopefully this will make things clearer for you... The Channel Tunnel is the tunnel itself that connects the UK to France. Eurotunnel is the operator of the high speed train transport system which links the UK and France through the Channel Tunnel, and it runs between Folkestone which ..." Read review

Quicker than the boat

AdvantagesIt's quick and easy to use

DisadvantagesNothing to see out of the window

"...on to the high seas? Then Eurotunnel is the one for you. What is Eurotunnel? Well, it's the train service that runs between Folkestone and Calais through the Channel Tunnel carrying motor vehicles. It takes thirty-five minutes to make the crossing, runs twice an hour during the day and two hourly at night. Why Eurotunnel? It's the quickest and, quite frankly, the easiest way of getting to the continent. I say this as someone who ..." Read review

I've been under the sea - but didn't see Nemo!!

AdvantagesQuick, easy, efficient

DisadvantagesNone at all

"...too bad! There are plenty of Eurotunnel staff around, to help you, especially at the help desk.. There are also a number of screens displaying the train times, and if they are boarding or not. ** Getting on the Train ** So my boarding time is called off I drive. There are lots of Eurotunnel people there to guide you in the correct direction. First off you pass immigration and customs for the UK. I have never been stopped; in fact I ..." Read review

What is there to know about eurotunnel?

Advantages35minute crossings, more then 50 crossings a day & cheap rates!

Disadvantageslimited cheap rates if you book closer to the time of travel

"...with us to be eligible. Eurotunnel also do Annual insurances which you only need to travel once with them for a year and you can travel with whoever else you like to be eligible. And trust me, they have it covered.... 'Xcuse the pun :P Green cards, these do not cover you for Europe. They reduce to third party fire and theft. You can however get a day's European breakdown cover from Eurotunnel at a discounted price by the AA at 8.99 and a days travelling ..." Read review

AdvantagesQuick and efficient

"...The great thing about the Eurotunnel is that the travel time is on 35 minutes and the whole process is reasonably painless. To get to Folkestone you need junction 11 of the M20 to get to the channel tunnel itself. This is so clearly signposted and for about 20 miles there is a sign every two miles letting you know how far away you are. When you get to Folkestone simply follow the signs to your needed entrance e.g. cars one way, coaches and lorries ..." Read review

This is the age of the train!! Review with images

AdvantagesQuick, Clean, Friendly Staff

"... I had never been on Eurotunnel before and to be honest had no idea what to expect. I have a couple of thousand pounds worth of Tesco Clubacrd vouchers (yes you heard right) so I thought I'd use some up. I went to their website to look at the times that would suit me. The train travels regularly- I think a couple of times an hour - and is on the move 24 hours a day. I chose my timeslots and rang the number given. I also had to mention I was paying ..." Stress free channel crossing

AdvantagesQuick, cheap

"...am a recent convert to Eurotunnel I have to admit. The thought of driving across to France never really appealed until I bought tickets for the rugby world cup this year and had to make 6 seperate trips to Paris. Eurostar had hugely racked up their prices so we decided to look at Eurotunnel. They are incredibly good value. We paid between 45 and 140 return for a car on the service. This was booking on the website and well in advance as it can ..." Read review

Tunnel of Love Review with images

AdvantagesBetter than the boat/plane

"...a different operator. 1. Eurotunnel who are the operators who control the trains. 2. Le Shuttle the name of the train service between Folkestone & Calais. 3. Eurostar the train service between London & Paris - Brussels. I tried the journey from Waterloo to Brussels and will be able to relate this experience to you. Before then some history and background to help you make your decision as to whether to travel and if yes how to make it more ..." Read review

Hurry up and wait!

AdvantagesSpeedy crossing when all is well

DisadvantagesBad policies and delays are common

"...the poor service provided by Eurotunnel on the 28 Jan 05. I arrived at the Eurotunnel exit off the M20 at about 1630hrs. Due to a passenger trying to take an unexploded mortar through customs, the tunnel was shut down. So I waited in the queue of traffic, and eventually I made my way, until I got to the ticket booth. It was now about 1945 hrs. The lady in the booth asked me if I would prefer to take the 2100 P&O ferry from Dover, because it didnt ..." Read review

Advantagesshould be faster

Disadvantagesvery bad timekeeping. Can be IMPOSSIBLE to use toilet if parked in wrong place

"whist in the past I have found the tunnel very good, so decided to take a day trip(not having used the tunnel for a few years) tp re-live the experience. The whole thing was a disaster, from rubbish information booking in, to getting on the train where I knew it was going to get better, some hope, the train was 30 mins late setting off, just getting an apology (presume it was) from some french lady with a very strong accent, which I could not understand ..." Quick review of Eurotunnel

"I booked the car transport on the Eurotunnel and then called to make a car reservation. Both companies I called alerted me to the fact that I would end up on the wrong side of the road and strongly recommended against it. I tried to cancel my reservation within 24 hours (and weeks before the date), but was told by Eurotunnel that they would do nothing to hlep me and would return not a penny of my family's money. Be very careful about dealing with these people!

Eurotunnel Shambles

Advantagesspeedy IF it works

Disadvantagesexpensive, unreliable, useless customer service, long delays ...

"...of our journey by using Eurotunnel - BIG MISTAKE WE WONT BE MAKING AGAIN! We arrived on time and immediately saw that there was a delay of one hour! When the delay finally turned into 4 hours and no sign of ending we checked into a hotel. We have 3 year old twins and had a 6 hour drive in the dark ahead in the UK. Whilst we were waiting the expensive shopping centre selling cheap rubbish and low quality food. No childrens play area and no seats ..." Read review
