So you want to go to France using the Eurotunnel...? Recently I spotted a cheap deal on the Internet to take a car to France on the Eurotunnel; it cost me £29, for the car and two passengers. I thought this price sounded rather good and decided I would book it there and then. That's the real reason I wanted to try out the Eurotunnel, I'm always a sucker for a bargain! Let me tell you about it... ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º° THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CHANNEL TUNNEL AND THE EUROTUNNEL °º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø I was a little confused because the Channel Tunnel and the Eurotunnel sound like much the same thing to ... more

Thinking of taking the car over to Europe? Can't face the prospect of sitting for hours on a pitching and rolling ferry while being charged the earth to have a meal of average quality? Are you like me, do you go green round the gills as soon as a force three breeze blows it's way on to the high seas? Then Eurotunnel is the one for you. What is Eurotunnel? Well, it's the train service that runs between Folkestone and Calais through the Channel Tunnel carrying motor vehicles. It takes thirty-five minutes to make the crossing, runs twice an hour during the day and two hourly at night. Why ... more

So I’m going to Germany, what is the best way to get there? Well I needed to carry quite a lot of bits and pieces with me, I am working is a long way from an airport, so the best option is to take the car. ** What is it ** Eurotunnel is the channel tunnel crossing. It is a train which runs from just outside Folkestone in Kent, to just outside Coquelles, just outside Calais in France. The train is basically a car and lorry transporter. You drive on in England, and drive off in France (or vice versa) sounds so simple!! There are two types of trains, one to take the lorries, and one to take the ... more

For my man's birthday I decided to treat him to a trip to France. Originally I had planned to go by ferry as I thought it would be cheaper. Now, I'm a teacher and his birthday fell on Easter weekend so we were pretty much stuck in "peak" time. The Easter weekend was rulled out due to family commitments etc so I put it off until a week later, on the Saturday. As I said already the ferry was my first idea as I thought "heck for the two of us it's bound to be cheap!" How wrong could I be! I tried every website known to man up to two months in advance of booking and the cheapest I could get it for ... more

Picture the scene. A nice sunny day, driving back from holiday. Up to Calais. Then a one hour ferry trip across the channel to Dover. However this one hour ferry trip would last 12 hours. Involve rescue helicopters flying above. Have the captain tell everybody to stay in doors, whilst 40-50 feet waves splashed over the windows. See grown men praying to God that they would live. Have sick all over the place and cutlery and food flying everywhere. Imagine complete mayhem, as the coast guard would not allow the ship to dock, because it was too dangerous, and the ship would just have to stay out ... more

I am a recent convert to Eurotunnel I have to admit. The thought of driving across to France never really appealed until I bought tickets for the rugby world cup this year and had to make 6 seperate trips to Paris. Eurostar had hugely racked up their prices so we decided to look at Eurotunnel. They are incredibly good value. We paid between £45 and £140 return for a car on the service. This was booking on the website and well in advance as it can get a lot more expensive if you leave it too late. Those who only decided to go to Paris last week paid up to £300 return for a journey we had paid ... more

***INTRO*** The UK and French governments have divided the operation into 3 main parts & given each to a different operator. 1. Eurotunnel who are the operators who control the trains. 2. Le Shuttle the name of the train service between Folkestone & Calais. 3. Eurostar the train service between London & Paris - Brussels. I tried the journey from Waterloo to Brussels and will be able to relate this experience to you. Before then some history and background to help you make your decision as to whether to travel and if yes how to make it more enjoyable. ***THE PRODUCT*** This review is concerned ... more

I would like to share with you my ordeal at the hands of Eurotunnel. Here is the letter that I sent them complaining about their service, and the reply they sent me. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to complain about the poor service provided by Eurotunnel on the 28 Jan 05. I arrived at the Eurotunnel exit off the M20 at about 1630hrs. Due to a passenger trying to take an unexploded mortar through customs, the tunnel was shut down. So I waited in the queue of traffic, and eventually I made my way, until I got to the ticket booth. It was now about 1945 hrs. The lady in the booth asked me if I would ... more

whist in the past I have found the tunnel very good, so decided to take a day trip(not having used the tunnel for a few years) tp re-live the experience. The whole thing was a disaster, from rubbish information booking in, to getting on the train where I knew it was going to get better, some hope, the train was 30 mins late setting off, just getting an apology (presume it was) from some french lady with a very strong accent, which I could not understand a word of. As we only had a short time (full bookings) this half hour made a big difference, just time for a cup of coffee at cite europe ... more
