Advantages: Cheap, endless entertainment, friendly people. Disadvantages: Be careful not to get burnt.
...cocktail bars are plenty.
Faro has in excess of 58.000 people. My aunty has recently moved over there with her husband so you can add another 2 to that number.
The old part of the city is surrounded by Roman walls and is very beautiful and scenic. There are many markets you can go to and plenty to see including water parks.
Much of the city has many apartments and hotels. There are many places to eat and it doesn't have to cost you a fortune either. ... ...get very hot indeed.
Faro is the district capitol of The Algarve it is where the airport stands.
The road conditions are unfortunately quite poor in Faro. The drivers are reasonably sensible with lorry drivers being the exception. Do be careful if you are driving in Portugal, as it is very different to driving in the UK. Especially since you won't know the area. There are signposts, but they tend to be not very clear and when your concentrating ...

...I visited Portugal, landing in Faro and staying approximately 20 miles from Faro in a small town near Loule.
The main tourist occupation would seem to be golf as there are golfing parks everywhere, however if you visit the local towns you will find a variety of other things to occupy your time.
At the time of my holiday the Loule 2000 carnival was in full swing, a lot of time and effort was put into the costumes and floats and they where very impressive. ... ...holiday was in March 2000, the weather was wonderful the temperature averaging in the 70's. There are a lot of English living in this area of Portugal, but when you do come across a local, they are usually very friendly.
I visited many places during my short stay, Prair da Rocha, Albufeira, Vilamoura, loule and Silves. The castle at Silves is magnificent. The cost of food and snacks is much cheaper than in the UK, the local markets are well worth ...

...doubtful pleasure of going through Faro Airport. Judging by my impression of Faro airport, I'm glad I was staying in another town!
My breath was really taken away just five minutes after we landed. The toilets had a distinct aroma of p*** They looked clean but the strong smell was enough to make your eyes water.
Anyway, enough of that! Faro really comes into it's own when you go back for your return flight. The toilets had a distinct aroma of Zoflora, ... ...coffee in that particular coffee shop who were suffering. I did wonder if they had not boiled the water before making the coffee. So, that was my experience of Faro International Airport. If you go there you'll find the duty free shopping cheap but don't drink the coffee! ...

I never thought I would be the kind of person who would go to the same place on holiday year after year, far too boring!! Until the year we went to Praia da Oura for our holidays. We stayed in excellent apartments - Club Praia da Oura. They were clean and spacious with everything we needed for a fortnight. We went on holiday in early June so the weather was perfect . The Portugese people couldn't be any nicer or more welcoming. They love kids which ...

This year i went to a place called Ohlos D'Agua in Portugal near Faro. I'd never been there before so i didn't know what to expect but...WOW!!! All the locals were great and made us feel at home. They made sure we had a good time! I really recommend you visit a town called Albufeira which is about 10 minutes away by bus. The place has loads of things to do especially at night when it becomes reallllly lively! There's something for everyone whether ...

In summer 2000 I went to Montechoro in Portugal. During the day was great and at night I thought it would be too. On the first night I saw the bars and clubs and thought it would be great but I did not go out that night. When I did go out I walked into the first bar and and it was all over 40s on the outside and under13 on the inside - all the parents watching their kids. So I want in some other bars and it was all the same. During the day is excellent ...
