Advantages: Fantastic resort and value for money Disadvantages: Customer service, Weddings Department
...never booked a holiday with First Choice before as I prefer to search the Internet and find the cheapest deals myself, cutting out the shop assistants commission. I first entered the First Choice in Rotherham while looking for a wedding destination for my then Fiance and I; as soon as I walked in I was impressed by the store, the main desks were set out as though they were in a large ship, then had a waiting area made to look like an old 60's dinner ... ...about you're chosen destination. Once past the fact and figures you are displayed with the hotels on offer around each country, each in given it's own 'Sun Rating' which really made no sense to me as there was no information on what they were basing ...

** SEARCHING **
First Choice was easy to search online. There is a section for last minute deals that actually search 3 months ahead. Holiday Search options are Depart date, Fly From Airport, Length of Stay, Number of passengers, Holiday Location, start rating, board type, these options are used to search for exactly the type of holiday you want and are then listed with as close a match as possible ... ...Pre-book your seats on a First Choice Airways flight and check in 90 mins before your flight, instead of the normal 2 hours. This option costs £10 per adults £5 per child. This is not included in the price but if you arrive early at check-in you can be seated together anyway as it is a first come first served basis so unless you kids are extremely young it isn't that necessary. In-Flight Meals are included in the price £10 per adult and £5 per child ...

Advantages: Nice Location Disadvantages: Poor Organisation, poor reps, not enough staff to cope.
We booked with First Choice (Unijet actually, but First Choice represent about 20 companies, including, Unijet as we were soon to find out) because they put the usual selling points in the brochure about the hotel being wonderful and the Reps being the best thing ever invented. They were right on the hotel, they we were wide of the mark with the Reps, so wide that it insulting. Lets begin at the start. We arrived at the Airport as per normal and ... ...Strike. So were told by First Choice it was due to Air Traffic Control restrictions and now by the captain due to the taxi strike. I don’t like lies. Anyway, we get to the Airport, no reps there. Got in the queue and proceeded to queue for 5 hours in the blistering sunshine and soaring temperatures for a taxi. Airtours and Thompson were running around handing out sun cream, hats and water to their customers. We had………..nothing, ...

...going to go on our first official family holiday. When DS was only 3 months old, we quickly made the decision to go to a Beaches in Jamaica. By the time the trip would arrive, he would be 15 months old. They didnt even do me the courtesy of replying to all 26 of my complaints, they answered 2 in a very brief manner which was patronising, accused me of not knowing what I had booked ( never mind the fact that we have visited over 60 countries all over the world, some of which most people have never even heard of.) ...travelled to the Maldives with First Choice, and I found it to be a very varied experience. Whilst I found the tour operator themselves to be very mixed in customer service, the airline is of a very good standard for a charter.

We had booked 7 nights at the Hotel Luz Marina in C’an Pastilla departing 12 May 2001. This hotel is now exclusively First Choice until 2005 for the summer months.

...a holiday to Cyprus with First Choice. Before you book your summer vacation this year, read my story. I was a bit dubious about going as I am prone to deep vein thrombosis. I have a gene missing in my blood which means I cannot sit in one place too long, never can go on a long haul flight, cannot drive too long without regular breaks and I cannot get pregnant without injecting a blood thinning drug. So a holiday for me is big deal.

This resulted in me being attached to a heparin drip for two weeks, but this is another story ...

We used First Choice for our holiday to Kenya this year so here is my review of each stage:
Booking We booked through a high street travel agents, not knowing what hotel we wanted or dates, just that we wanted to go to Mombasa somewhere at the start of June and preferably from Manchester Airport. We boarded the plane on time and were shown to our seats to a medley of Kylies greatest hits. ...was the only one left, First Choice (ironically!) on my way back to the bus station.
I just ambled in casually to look at the brochure display when POW! immediately a pushy advisor was at my elbow. I suppose, given that the shop only had one other customer in there at that point, I should have expected it.

I turned my attention to the brochure shelves - half empty! (or should I say half full??!)

Advantages: Agency Staff & Seat Pitch Excellent Disadvantages: In Flight Service
...family holiday to Florida with First Choice for June 2006. First and foremost, the service in the agency at Bristol Galleries was excellent. I had a pretty good idea as to what I wanted and how much I was prepared to pay (the internet is a wonderful thing) , but they were very patient with my questions and came up with some great suggestions - some of which actually saved me money.
