Advantages: fun for all the family Disadvantages: looks run down in places
...if possible I decided on Flamingo Land, it was cheapish, nearish and I couldn't see people driving from all over the country to spend the day in North Yorkshire. Flamingo Land was first set up in 1979. I recall people from school, spending two weeks in a caravan there and having a great time or so they said. Caravan Parks always remind me of Mablethorpe and my Nan's caravan as a kid - I had no great desire to relive a caravan holiday thanks very ... ...caravans. The accommodation offered by Flamingo Land in their adjacent Caravan Park is of a very high standard, with plush fittings. Apparently it's not the vogue to have calor gas lighting like my Nan had way back in the 70's. These caravans even came furnished with DVD players and microwaves -I'd have sold my soul for a TV and not have had to listen to Radio 2 every evening with my Grand dad smoking his pipe and humming along to some great classic ...

...NEWS! I VISITED FLAMINGO LAND YESTERDAY AND DISCOVERED THAT MANDY THE POLAR BEAR HAD DIED WITHIN DAYS OF ME WRITING THIS REVIEW. I DEDICATE THIS REVIEW TO HER.
Flamingo Land is situated in Kirby Misperton which is about 4 miles from Pickering and 6 miles from Malton, North Yorkshire where we live. From the North , you would take the A64 to York and follow the signs to Pickering. Flamingo Land is well signposted for quite a few miles before it, therefore ... ...wondering why we stayed at Flamingo Land if we live so close – some friends were visiting from Ireland and we don’t have the room to accommodate guests so we all decided to have a week at Flamingo Land. It was last August and we forgot completely that we were only fifteen minutes from home! It was fab! )
Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo has been rated in the UK's top 20 attractions list and claims to receive over 1.1 millions visitors per year. ...

I would recommend the Tesco Deals tokens as I got £70 of tokens (valid at several theme parks) for about £17 or £18 worth of Club Card vouchers (and then had to pay £18 to it, a total of about £36, instead of £88 for 4 adults and a baby. Advantages: Lots of great rides and entertainment Disadvantages: not much to do in bad weather if you want to stay indoors
...I went on holiday to Flamingo Land and had one of the best holidays of my life and so I would like to share my experiences of the park in the hopes that others will too enjoy it in the way that I did. The park itself is located in North Yorkshire about 20mins from Scarborough and Whitby. It is a family run theme park with an extensive zoo and holiday village. It is possible to just visit the park for the day however I would strongly point out the ... ...everything!
~The Zoo~
Flamingo Land originally started out as a small zoo with guess what? Flamingos as the main attraction. However to day there are many different animals ranging from tigers to polar bears to Shetland ponies. You really can spend a whole day here. Throughout the day they feed the animals and you can go along and watch. I recommend the penguin feed because they are sooo cute! Along with all the main animals there is a superb bird ...

Flamingo Land is perfect in almost every way deemed possible in the theme park industry. ...then I can thoroughly recommend Flamingo Land as the place to take them. My son, who is now 13 and daughter (18) never want to go anywhere else. We’ve been to euro-disney, but they still rate Flamingo Land higher.
Entrance fee for a day visit is £14.50 per person or £54 for a family of four. But one day is never usually enough, so we prefer to book a short break in one of the caravans. They do sleep up to 6 people, but personally I don’t ... ...new ride this year at Flamingo Land is the CLIFF-HANGER, which stands 120 feet tall. Its like a bungee jump but you have to sit down, theres enough seats for 16 people. Then the ride just takes off up in to the air, at a G Force 4 and stays there for about 16 seconds and then drops back down on the bungee rope. Quite exhilarating. Then theres the VIKING SHIP, a thrilling boat ride that swings its passengers 70 feet high in the air. There are numerous ...

Advantages: Prices, Ambience, Rides. Excellent day out. Notable innovations Disadvantages: Reassuingly few, older areas still need sprucing up tho'.
I'll give you a quick history lesson. Back in the early eighties, Flamingoland punched pound for pound with it's fellow new fangled 'theme park' concept with Alton Towers, even to the extent that both parks acquired a state of the art 'corkscrew' roller-coaster. However, while Alton continued to expand at a pace, FL sit idly on it's laurels, and by the early nineties, Both were shadows of their former self - Alton had become the UK's answer to Disneyland, ... ...Both had attendances in the eighties approaching 2m visitors, but by the mid nineties, while Alton were touching 3m visitors, FL had slumped to less than 1m. In short, FL had become a shabby, run-down chore, with superior rides such as the Bullet not even able to lift the sense of malaise about the place. Through tragic circumstances though towards the end of the decade, Gordon Gibb, just 18 at the time, took charge, and the transformation of the ...
